I took one (1) week of the new generic drug (Budeprion XL) and went to my doctor's appointment. She told me that the Wellbutrin XL now has a generic pill but I was not to take the generic. I told her I had just refilled my prescription and received the generic brand, so she wrote a new prescription for Brand Only. The new bottle I received today contained an oblong pill manufactured by Clipla USA. I have been taking a round pill manufactured by PAR. I was severely depressed due to the loss of my husband in May. My doctor started me out on Zoloft but it did work well for me. Had tremors and felt sick. He switched me to PRistiq starting at 50 mg. I was better for awhile but the dosage was not high enough. I am now on 100 mg and doing much better. No bad side effects and I have lost a lot of weight (this started even before I started taking the Zoloft). My appetite has definitely decreased but I do not feel the need to eat more and food tastes fine. My pharmacists gave me teva buproprion Xl 150 which stayed on the market after the 300mg dose was withdrawn. It has a different absorption profile than the brand name and I'm wary of it. The only antidepressant I ever took for a short time was Zoloft to get me thru PMS. Age 56. I started taking Cymbalta 2 weeks ago and I feel wonderful. I was moody(never knew when it would happen). Sluggish, gain weight. For the short time, I have been moody one time and loose weight. Plus I'm changed my diet to eat healthier and exercising. It boost the serotonin in system. ## All SSRI's are harmful, some fatal while taking/withdrawling. Cymbalta is a dual SSRI (SSNRI). Take 5htp OTC at a health food outlet, no side effects. Ive been prescribed Wellbutrin xl 150 once daily for perimenapausal symptoms, mainly severe hot flashes. Today is my 11th day. Can anyone tell me please how long I should give this dose. To date I don't see that its helped. After reading many stories on this forum, it sounds like I should give it some time. ## It should take you more or less one month for the Wellbutrin XL to really get going/kick in and for you to actually feel its effects on a continual basis. What does the XR part of the subject RX mean? ## It is just one of several abbreviations used to denote that the medictaion is a sustained release or controlled release formulation. This means that instead of being released all at once, the tablet has been specially formulated to slowly release the active ingredient over the relevant number of dosing hours. Has anyone else had bad experiences with the Zydus Wellbutrin XL? I responded really well to 2x150mg of the Activis brand, for about 6 weeks but 10 days on Zydus 300mg was like coming off it all cold turkey. Nothing done, scatterbrained, tearful and like I was back at square one! Thank God my Walgreen pharmacist had heard this before, called my Dr to get a new Rx for 2x150 Activis and squared it away with my insurance company.
