I take 70 mg of Methadone daily for the past week and that've been tapering down from 100 mg. i go to the clinic daily by 8 am. Today at 6pm I took 5mg of Valium. Now after reading other peoples messages I'm worried! Was this a dumb idea or what?? Ideas and opinions are wanted.... ## Hi DomDarko! I never had a problem taking methadone with a benzo. I was on 110 of methadone 4 almost 5 years, and also took Klonopin the whole time with it. I'm now on suboxone and still take the Klonopin. Sometimes, my doctor would even prescribe Valium 4 break through anxiety and panick attacks. Hope this puts your mind at ease. Just take it as prescribed. ## @DomDarko, Some people may not have any problem using the two together, but based on my research, there are minor to moderate drug inter...

Has anyone heard of the Ashton Method as a way to detox off of benzodiazepenes? I know it is more popular in the UK. I’m trying to find a USA psychiatrist who follows this method. A lot of people have had success coming off without losing their minds in withdrawal. ## My dr. Did a similar approach. Switching me to Valium instead of Xanax and then we got 1mg, .5mg and .25mg compounded so I could make very small tapers. It was the only thing that worked for me after trying to come off on my own unsuccessfully. Dr. Royble at True Life Center in San Diego. There are also some groups that help you to micro taper on your own diluting the pills with liquid. ## I'm looking for one also.

I've been on and off klonopin for 10 years for a chronic pain condition. I've been tapering from 2 milligrams down to .5 for a year now. Last week I started taking my does once a day a night instead of twice and 3 days later I got very sick. The weirdest part is I'm hearing squeaking in my hear when ever I talk. My body is burning terribly and alot of other symtoms such as twitching. I've been tapering with the .5 pills and the .125 wafers. How should I finish this taper? Do I need to go back up for a while? Or stay at this dose? I'm at my wits end and very scared. Should I do water titration? I tried switching to valium one and it didn't work but I didn't do the crossover as instructed I just switched all at once. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks ## I...

Benzo's are a wonder drug for cetain disorders--You can very easily get dependant and stopping abruptly can lead to seizures. Please see a physician who you trust if you think you are getting mentally dependent. You are already physically dependent. People- benzo's ( valium, librium ,xanax ,ativan, klonipin, etc) are not a good drug to get hooked on. ## I have been taking 6 mil of Klonopin for almost 6 years and I want to get off of it but I don't know how to wean myself off of it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you. Beverly ## Please see your doctor before trying to stop any prescription drug, some drugs can have severe adverse effects if you stop them too abruptly.

I want to stop the methadone while my other doc is prescribing me my MS Contin, valium and Oxy so it is easier to stop. ## Hello, Dan! How are you? Methadone is actually notoriously hard to stop and most people end up requiring a lifetime maintenance dose of it. What has your doctor advised to help with getting off of it? ## Dear Dan, I use 2 b on 110mg of methadone. When it came time 2 taper down, I did it VERY slowly . I am on a valium taper for withdrawal of Klonopin which I took for over 20 years. I am one year off of the Klonopin I am down to 5 mg of valium and almost finished with the taper. Although I am better, I still have anxiety, angry outbursts, "brain fog," insomnia.. The dr. had me on Wellbutrin for mood swings. The Wellbutrin seemed to cause my anxiety to be worse and cause my hypomania to return. (I was dx with bipolar II many years ago and that was why I was on Klonopin) . Both my dr. and therapist have suggested I am NOT BIPOLAR. Have a MOOD DISORDER. Until the benzo withdrawal I had several years of stability while bipolar. My question is this: In spite of withdrawal symptoms (which are far less after one year of tapering off of Klonopin), I am basically depressed and the dr. ...

Day 17 no oxy, detoxed without sub. Valium, clonidine , robaxin and a few others. When will I be normal again. I am good in the morning, by 1pm I am a jack ass and my legs hurt and everything pisses me off. can't crack a smile to save my life. ## So, you just stopped the Oxycodone, without tapering? That's pretty high of a dosage to do that with, even though you were only on it for four months. And to be honest, it may take 4 to 6 weeks, before you start to feel more normal and have less of those annoying symptoms. From my own experience stopping large doses of narcotics cold turkey after stopping pain management, I can tell you that it was about a month for the pain to ease up and about 6 to 8 weeks for the mental symptoms, such as irritability to ease off. Is it the only medic...

Does anybody know how long Flexeril stays in your system? I really need to know. ## It is addicting so you need to taper off if you have used it for a while. ## Flexeril... this is my first. what are the risk in taken this medication and what are the side of effect. ## Flexeril is a muscle relaxant, IT IS NOT RELATED TO VALIUM and IS NOT in the same class of drugs. The active ingredient is Cyclobenzaprine. Some of the most common side effects are: drowsiness, headache, depression and blurred vision. How long it lasts in your system really depends on the dosage you have been taking and how long you have been taking it.

I do want to warn everyone that is taking Benzodiazepines. Xanax, Clonazepam, Klonipin, Ativan, Valium, etc.. THIS IS A PSYCHOTIC DRUG! ONLY TO BE USED FOR 2-4 WEEKS. I was put on them for yrs. I had terrible anxiety... the more anxiety I had, the more the doctor was upping my dose! It was the Clonazepam causing it. I went to a detox, they cold turkey'd me ~ TAPER SLOWLY. You will have the worst withdrawals and they are not like an opioid withdrawal! it takes weeks to over a year to go through the withdrawals. Trust Me I was a victim of such. READ UP ON THEM. See sites like benzo.org.uk then join a benzo group. They should be treated like an opioid. They can be worse than them. ## They are treated like an opioid these days. Read EVERYTHING the pharmacy gives you with the meds. None ...

How to detox from home, I'm trying to get off these 30mg OPs I been prescribed for more than ten years, and I'm tired of the addiction,, please help me find a way to detox...... ## The only thing I can ever say helped me were a couple valium and LOTS of fluids, stay hydrated!!! Good luck!! ## A slow taper is usually best. However, the problem is that these are time released, so you can't cut or break them. How many do take each day? Have you consulted a medical professional for assistance? The FDA lists the typical withdrawal effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, fever, chills, rebound pain, depression and diarrhea.

Any ideas on meds to take to offset it I know my body will hurt for a while ## Hello, Mrs. ATC! How are you doing? The severity of your withdrawals will really depend on how long you've been taking such medications and a slow taper is really best, because it will help minimize them, as much as possible. Is there a difference in the use of clonazepam vs diazepam as far as addiction potential? Would one be better than the other for tapering? ## No, not as far as I know from what I studied about them, at least in the nature of the drugs themselves. Learn more Benzodiazepine details here. There can, however, be differences in respect to the people using them, such as their own addiction potential and etc. Are there any other questions or comments? ## There actually IS a difference regarding "addiction potential" among benzodiazepines. Valium acts very rapidly -- a trait which is highly attractive to addicts. Clonazepam, on the other hand, is absorbed more slowly -- doesn't peak until 1-4 hrs after ingestion. Not as attractive. In general, the short-acting benzos are more attrac...

I've had GAD for prostate cancer, spinal stenosis and used 600mg Gabapentin once a day at bedtimeas a possibility for my anxiety. It did work for a period of time but did no help for my anxiety at all. My neurologist recommended I Taper the Gabapentin the following manner: 600mg for 1 week, 500mg with 100mg for another week, 400mg less 100mg another week, then 300mg week less 200mg less then a 100mg, then one last week 100mg to finish the Taper. Following that 6 weeks my anxiety increased, severe headache, lack of sleep and my GAD is now worse. I did then try Xanax and then Valium with continued pain, anxiety, headache, all day long since the Gabapentin was fully tapered & cant determine my GAD & previous pain that seemed to be further cause of the Gabapentin and don't k...

You mean KlonoPin. Klonopin is a benzodiazapine used for seizure control and panic attaks. It is frquently prescibed for severe anxiety due to a very long half life as opposed to Xanax and Valium. It is also the strongest benzodiazapine mg for mg. Hope this helps!! ## Klonopin is the brand name, the active ingredient is actually Clonazepam. Learn more Klonopin details here. VA doc has me on 2xwellbutrin hcl 150mg SA (VA Product)tabs a day - been on for 20 days. Side effects are kicking my butt. He said I can quit by taking 1 tab in the morning for 3 days and then just quitting - sounds 'cold turkey' to me. He also agreed that if I wanted to I could cut my dose back to a single tab in the AM. I see him again on June 9. Am I correct that 'SA' tabs cannot be divided? If I was going taper it seems that would be the way to go but I've read you not supposed to divide them. PERIOD! Also taking 2-1/2 5mg Valium tabs daily - will be dropping back to 2 a day in about 10 days ## Hello, Skip! How are you? I'm thinking of talking to my dr. About benzodiazapan, I want a heads up on which one is the most addictive. ## Your body will eventually get used to any medication you take regularly, even if you don't abuse them, and a sudden cessation may result in withdrawal symptoms. As to Benzodiazepines, they can all be habit forming and usually require a slow taper, when someone stops taking them. What you really need to do is discuss your issues with your doctor, so they can help you decide what would be your best treatment option. You can learn more about Benzodiazepines and the ones that are available here: Is there anything else I can help with? ## If you don't have to start Benzo don't. I am currently withdrawing from valium only 5 mg a day. It is extremely uncomfortable. Wo...
