Hi, I have been prescribed the drug tinidazole 2000mg as a single dose for the treatment of giardia. I took it last night with dinner. I have the bad taste in the mouth that is listed as a side effect and was just wondering how long this will last for? Dr said i've been infected with gastro-entritis with colic. so he prescribed me with spasmomen, conaz and emetrex. but after i took the medicine as recommended, i got a very severe headache. ## This drug is in the class of antibiotics known as the Quinolone Antibiotics. One of the actions of this class of antibiotics is to cause Magnesium Depletion. This depletion of magnesium can lead to headaches as a common side effect. However, you cannot take magnesium while taking these drugs in order to alleviate the headache. You will inactivate the drug and cause it not to work. A better choice would be to contact your doctor and get onto a drug that is in a different class of antibiotics that does not cause you headaches.

I have taken a dose of 4 500 Mg tabs for abdominal pain that my GP diagnosed as parasites. I have felt worse up to 24 hours afterwards, with sharp muscle pain, severe headache, & mild nausea, and still the same abdominal pain, presumably side effects of the above tablets. How long would it be that I should start to feel better.

The CDC lists two that are normally used to treat it, Metronidazole and Tinidazole. The FDA lists their typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and diarrhea. Did you doctor prescribe Amoxicillin for you? ## Yes he did. My symptoms have gotten worse and I'm seeing blood now when I wipe myself after using the bathroom. I feel nauseous and tired now.
