I lost my ex son-in-law on 1/20 -- he was murdered. A week later my sister dies of brain cancer. I have pyloric spasm which is exasperated by stress. I went to the doctor the day my sister passed away and proceeded to explain the deep loss I felt in my family. To which she replies "these things happen and you just need to deal with it. No compassion, no I'm sorry for your loss. No 'how can I help you deal with the stress'. The last time I went in I filled out a mental form which asked the question how many days a week do you feel like you would be better off dead and I said 7. When I tried to explain that my life is compromised by extreme pain and constant nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, she told me that she does not put herself in her patient's shoes. Needless to sa...

I am teaching a medication administration course and need a list of schedule G drugs and rthe reason they would be listed as such ## I cannot find a complete list, most of my information is for the U.S. and they do not use the same schedule for drugs. However, the schedule G drugs are those that are available strictly by prescription. This is due to the possibility of side effects and the health dangers they may present if used improperly. Some that are included in this category are amphetamines and barbituates. What country are you in? That may help me find you the proper information. ## Thanks for the reply, We are in Canada and I do realize that these are a restricted drug but I am not sure if they are narcotics or if they are special drugs that are being used almost experimentally o...

Hi. I am a teacher and have children with immune deficiencies who require a lot of attention and infusions every month. I am on Wellbutrin and Prozac. He is now weaning me off the Wellbutrin and starting me slowly on epitec. First 25mg, then 50mg, then 100mg, then 150mg. He said it is to help me cope with my circumstances and make me “thicker skinned”, not because I have bipolar. I am very confused because some people say that epitec has a side effect of gaining weight and others say it has helped them lose weight. I am absolutely paranoid about putting on weight. I eat quite healthily but not when I’m stressed, and I don’t have time for exercise. Thank you, please tell me the percentage of people who gain weight on Prozac and epitec together? ## Hello, Margie! H...

need a list and pictures of all narcotic pills to teach my teenager ## I am afraid that will be virtually impossible, at least on the pictures aspect. The reason for this is that when medications are available for generic production, there is no standardized shape, size, color or imprint. The US FDA only requires they have a unique imprint so the manufacturer, type of drug and dosage can be identified in case of emergency, but they are, quite literally, made by thousands of different companies, so there are thousands of pills on the market that contain narcotics and they all look different and have different markings. It would be simply impossible for you or your teenager to memorize all of them. Even doctors and pharmacists do not have them all memorized. There is a list on the DEA sit...

My son had SEVERE ADHD to the point of hitting teachers when he was 4 in preschool, so he was tried on many meds and finally placed him on 36 mg of Concerta and 1mg of Tenex for any left over aggression. When he was in 1st grade the Concerta was moved up to 54mg. Now he is almost 12 and he says he doesn't feel "normal" when he takes them (sometimes we skip weekends). What is the safest way to stop? ## Since it does contain Methylphenidate, which is a psychostimulant, there can be some problems and rebound effects, if you completely discontinue it abruptly. So, it really should be slowly tapered, to minimize the possibility of such issues occurring. Learn more Concerta details here. Have you consulted his doctor? They should be able to help you with a safe and effective taper...

I have been on third medicine fir high blood pressure. My feet are swollen. I'm a Teacher and on my feet all day. They are very painful. I went to the dr he said all my levels wad fine and the swelling is normal. I have a transplant and I know this medicine is causing weight gain and swelling. My insurance recently changed me to the generic of twynsta aldopine. ## Hello, Sweeeladyi5! How are you? I am very sorry about the problem that you're having. If the swelling is that bad, then your doctor should switch you to a different medication. There are quite a few others available that you can try that may not cause you such a side effect. I'd suggest asking him about trying something different. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am a hospice nurse. We administer clear liquid morphine to our patients and teach the family how to administer it. Many are having trouble seeing how much they are pulling up in the syringe. Is is appropriate to add a very tiny minuscule amount of blue food coloring so that the patients can see the liquid and be safe? Please help. Thanks ## Hello, Pamela! How are you? I'm not sure if it would be safe, since food colorings aren't made to be used in such a manner. There are some dyes that are, so you may want to look into ordering one of them and using it. You wouldn't need a lot, just enough to add a slight tint to make it easier to see. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsines...

my 16 yrea old granddaughter is on amphetamine salt com 20 mg tablet. She constantly complains about being sleepy (teachers complain also) has anyone else experienced this symptom? ## Yes, in some people certain medications can cause the opposite symptoms of what they should. It could be because the medication just doesn't work properly for her or she may be on too high of a dosage. Has anyone spoken to her doctor about this? ## YES I HAVE AND MY DOCTOR TOLD ME IT WAS DUE TO MY DOSE BEING TO HIGH. ONCE CUT IN HALF I DID MUCH BETTER. ONE OF THOSE TIME LESS IS MORE.

Short history, when I was younger, I struggled so much with attentiveness, motivation, understanding, etc. My teacher thought it would be best if I stayed behind so they can better help me. I did stay back but I was not helped. Of course I did not know this atthe ttime. Couple of years later I'm still doing poorly and I did not know why. Some time later, I heard of adhd. And the similarities were spot on but, I was embarrassed to admit it and instead I wrote it off as me being lazy. After awhile I accepted it as my reality and completely convinced myself this is what it was. This made for years of agonizing school time. Barley passing and only advancing due to no child left behind. Afterwards, my life was filled with losing jobs and just messing everything up when the opportunity ar...

I have a 9 year old son on this medication. Since he has started he has been insomniac and starting to argue with me a lot more an even his teacher. Any tips? ## The best suggestion I can give would be to take him off this drug. Being only 9 years old and taking "legal speed" probably has a lot more repercussions than doctors let off telling you. In my opinion the best way to stay focused is to write lists, work on goal setting, exercise (outdoors, if at all possible); to help get rid of excess energy and to refresh the mind. I'd also recommend a diet comprised of more fresh fruits and vegetables. There are also many natural supplements that can be used to help increase focus, i.e.: Ginkgo Biloba, various Essential Oils & herbs, Valerian root, etc. I personally think tha...

I was under pain management for 10 yrs in Memphis & my doc passed away. Was seeing Dr Douglas Jones but he took teaching position at University of TN. I would be willing to travel to Ark if necessary. Have Medicare & on disability & have been on pain meds for years to manage severe back pain. Need to find a doctor with some compassion. Dr. Jones was great but had to move on. ## David, Sorry to say your chances of finding a "compassionate old school doc" that is liberal with the pen and pad are no longer in existence. From one who knows, Your best bet is to seek an interventional pain management practice as they may offer a degree of relief that many would find helpful. Long term use of opioid and or opiates exclusively are not the optimal course of treatment for intr...

CAN A PUBLIC TEACHER A TEACH EFFECTIVELY AFTER WAKING UP FROM TAKING R14 THE NIGHT BEFORE, WITHOUT ANY ADVERSE SIDE EFFECTS AND TEACH , LECTURE TO VARIED CLASSES RESPONSIBLY? FURTHEWR WILL THIS DRUG CAUSE A LOSS OF MEMORY TO A PROFESSIONAL TEACHER? ## I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with the laws for CDL drivers, so the only thing I can say for that is to do some searching, and see what you can learn. Some medications aren't allowed if they may affect the person's ability to drive a big rig safely, and responsibly. Regarding a teacher, they can usually take whatever they are legally prescribed, as long as they aren...

Research has proven over and over that trying to ban it or ditch opioids just doesn't work. So as a opiate patient of opioid therapy I will embrace it and teach you all. My doctor prescribes me 30mg oxycodone qty#150 every 28 days and that isn't swim, that someone is me so stop with the swim your already anonymous, just be honest. As a opioid patient and research analysis I will answer anyones questions. If you are a oxycodone lover get yourself a doctor and get them prescribed to you. If you get them prescribed to you u will be in the system with the docs and can pretty much go to any clinic now and in the near future and they will give them to you because u are a daily user or should I say patient. Docs like to see you on them for awhile before they start throwing huge strengt...

I lost my job because my call center closed on May 31st. The insurance I had which almost entirely paid for all of my prescriptions also ended. I'm currently substitute teaching but that is as needed. Is there anyway to get samples of this prescription in the meantime? 100mg 1X's daily is the dosage I took. ## Unfortunately, since Losartan is a generic medication, patient assistance, and sample programs are not likely available. However, there is a Prescription Discount Card available here. It is free, and has helped many people save money on prescriptions. Another idea would be to ask your pharmacist if they know of any helpful programs available, some states, such as Washington, have a program specifically for low-income, uninsured people.
