Taking Linzess At Night
17 Topics FoundSo far I am having varied results with Linzess. One day I'm going all day, one day nothing, one day it is a "normal" one/two time bowl movements, and then another I'm rushing in my car to find a public restroom. I usually take it at the same time every morning. The varied results happen at varied times. Morning, afternoon, and/or evening. I was wondering if taking it at night would help with trying to get it on a regular schedule? ## I take mine at night all the time and it is working well. I go in the morning and have no problem through the day. If I have to go through the day I have plenty of time to find a bathroom but usually I just go in the morning ## @JulieAnn, I know you posted this back in April, so I hope you are doing well and all is good! RE: Taking Linzess a...
I started Linzess 145mcg 9 days ago. Only had one bm. Called Dr she said take 2 pills at a time and if that works she will call in the higher dose. Took this morning before bed. (I work nights 7p-7a) I have had stomach pain all day. I haven't been able to sleep or get comfortable. I've had rumbling in my stomach, gas and an extremely hungry feeling with the 145mcg dose but no pain. It's been 8 hours since I took the 290mcg dose. I just ate something and I feel a little better. I read that I should take Linzess 30 minutes before eating but I usually don't eat until I get up in the afternoon. Could this pain be a result of not eating with the higher dose? ## Hi Krischris1, Sorry to hear about your situation. According to the manufacturer, you are right that it is recommend...
I was told by my gastroenterologist to take linzess on an empty stomach. So I actually take it at night before I go to bed and I usually make my BM the next morning just about every day. Once in a blue moon I may skip a day, but I never go more than a day without making a BM. I wonder if linzess may be affecting the way my body digest food. Because I'm having issues with being very hungry about 45 minutes after I eat. & I wonder if Linzess forces my digestion to speed up. After I eat. I also have a disease called insulin resistance which makes me very carbohydrate sensitive. Also wondering if linzess has any effect on the metformin I take for my insulin resistance? ## @Dee, To answer your initial question about Linzess possibly affecting the way your body digests food, NIH.gov s...
First time I tried it as prescribed once in the morning ...no luck. ## Hello, Vanessa! How are you? I'm sorry it didn't work for you. Did you make sure to take it on an empty stomach, with just water, at least a half hour before eating? Sometimes, people haven't been receiving the proper instructions with their prescriptions, so they don't know they have to take it that way. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, bloating and diarrhea. ## Reading some of the comments may be my answer. I take Linzess 30 minutes before breakfast and can go nowhere for 3 or 4 hours because of sudden diarrhea - so embarrassing! My hope is taking it at bedtime like a few said may be my answer. Pharmacists and doctors know little but trial & error. ...
Hello! I have been on Linzess for almost a year and a half. I have always taken it right before dinner and I would have a bm before bed every night. However, just three weeks ago I had to have colon surgery and the linzess is not working as well. Some days I will go to the bathroom a million times and some days not at all. I was wondering if my surgery could anything to do with this problem? Also should I continue to take the linzess? If you could help me it would be greatly appreciated. ## Hi Jacky, I think the timing for taking Linzess can vary greatly for each individual, based on numerous personal factors. I've read other posts on here stating how they also take it at night to promote a morning bowel movement, whilst others take it in the AM or afternoon. You can browse through ...
Can you take Linzess before bedtime so that elimination takes place in the morning? I take 145mg on an empty stomach... usually with apple sauce. ## Hi Carol, Looks like you're not alone in asking this question, as I just stumbled upon another discussion thread relating to the same inquiry at: [1] Taking Linzess At Night According to the response in that thread, it seems like the individual has had success taking Linzess at night to help promote a morning bowel movement. Perhaps it would also be a good idea to post your thoughts there in order to increase your exposure and possibly receive more immediate feedback from other patients as well... Best wishes to you! ## My doctor told me to start taking linzess. He said to take it at night. Can anyone tell me the best time please? Is it...
Just prescribed linzess by my pcp , took it for 2 days with no results . My doctor directed me to take only when needed! Which contradicted the prescribing info! I have had problems for over 20 years , have tried everything and still no luck! Any suggestions would be appreciated! ## Hi Jill, I was diagnosed with Colonic Inertia and I am unable to have a bowel movement on my own. I started with the low dose of Linzess and it did nothing. Then my Gastroenterologist ordered the higher dose and I could not stay off the commode as the diarrhea was terrible. I am now back on the low dose and it seems to be causing severe diarrhea. I would give it more time and see what happens. If I do not take it I become so bloated and have a lot of flatus and nausea. You can also try Phillips MOM at night....
I have been taking linzess at night before bed. great stools but very runny and causing burning in that area. Will start taking tomorrow morning after breakfast. I am feeling very bloaty after the 3rd day of taking it. ## Hello, Dana! How are you doing? Side effects to this medication can include nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain and stomach distention, so that explains the bloating. Several others have posted about experiencing the same thing with this medication. Have you experienced any other side effects? Does anyone else have experience using this mediation? ## I've been taking Linzess for awhile now. I follow two rules. One, recommended by my physician. First, I take it a minimum 1 hour before breakfast. Second, I take it if I have gone a full day without a BM. There are times wh...
I have Gastroparesis, pelvic floor dysnersia, and chronic ideopathic constipation. I had been taking 4 capfuls of miralax daily (which stopped working), amitiza (never worked) and now Linzess. The very first day it caused severe pain and I had pretty severe diarrhea. The next few days & nights I had severe abdominal pain, but now just cramping and lots of bloating. I have not had ANY movements at all since the diarhea on day 1. Is this normal? ## I hope your seeing a gastroenterologist and if so CALL the doctor. ## Hi GPcrusader, Sorry to hear about your situation. From what I've read on other related threads, the time it takes for Linzess to work actually varies greatly for each and every individual. However, I do agree with Amber in that it might be a good idea to touch base w...
I've been taking linzess for a week and am having a lot of pain down low in my stomach. I had to take two aspirins to at least get some sleep one night. It also hurts when I urinate. I have to take it in the afternoon because I work during the day. It has been relieving me quite well. I'm just worried about having so much pain to where I moan and groan when I walk and I can't continue any kind of work out. Does anyone have a lot of gas with linzess? Sometimes it won't stop. If so, what helps you with this problem? ## Hi Jo, sorry to hear about your discomfort with Linzess. What mg are you taking? If on the 190 you may need to go to 145. I took Linzess for years and it was great. Took at bedtime and went 1st thing in morning. I will say you need to eat healthy diet. I wou...
To whomever was asking about Linzess and parasites I am having the same experience. And it hurts. Check out Worm Queen Kim or mrsrogershood on TikTok. Doesn’t talk about this but a ton of information on parasites. It’s a nightmare. I had a parasitic infection in 2019 and no one would help me. I had to start a cleanse myself and that was brutal. I won’t even say what I used because I would be terrified for anyone to try it and do it wrong. But finally I saw a Haitian doctor and she treated me and then I changed GI docs to an Indian GI doc. Not because he was Indian but because he had treated my pastor for a parasitic infection. But he completely understood because in India it would be odd to never have one. And he treated me. I don’t know. I feel like maybe it nev...
Filed under LinzessHave you guys experienced yellowish and sometimes brown diahrrea? I asked the doctor PA and she blew it off? I’m trying to determine it’s like a yellowish brown sometimes just sometimes just a normal brown color. I’m trying to determine does that mean something is wrong with my pancreas or does the Linzess cause this? ## I was on 145 mg of linzess. I had explosive diarrhea every morning as well as bloody stools and my doctor still wanted me to take it. I was in constant pain from morning till night and all of that went away when I discontinued use. I take Dulcolax suppositories every other day and that seems to work for me. Yes I would definitely be concerned about the color of your stools while taking linzess. If it has you concerned I would stop taking it even if you...
I have multiple sclerosis and my doctor gave me movantik I took it for 3 days and it worked but I went into terrible withdrawal. It worked then it stopped working. another person told me to take it with linzess and I did not go. two nights ago I took miralax I went to the bathroom yesterday a few times however today I am so bloated i am afraid. please help ## Hello, Rifka! How are you? Linzess is known to cause bloating as a side effect as reported by the FDA, the Miralax can also cause it. It can also be a symptom of constipation, thus you've got several good reasons for why you may be bloated. However, if you're concerned, you should consult your doctor, they may be able to help you alleviate it and perhaps give you a more accurate idea as to its cause. Are you on any other me...
I am on levothyroxine, linzess, omeprazole, ospemifene and (topiramate 2x daily). How am I supposed to space these medications apart so that I receive the full benefit from each one? I wake up for work at 3am and typically retire for the night at 9pm. Thank for your help. ## The best person to ask is your Pharmacist, Always! ## Yes your pharmacist is a good source.
I've been taking lizness for almost 2 or 3 weeks.. But when I take it I do have results like a hour or so after but towards the night time I get bloated and can't go to the restroom and urinating even starts to become hard to do. And I also have cramping and pain with bloating towards the end of the day. ## Hello, BRead! How are you? Those can be normal side effects of Linzess, as listed by the FDA and most other users have reported similar experiences. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, abdominal cramping and diarrhea. However, the problem urinating is concerning and you should consult your doctor about that. Can anyone else that's been on it chime in? ## I too have issues urinating sometime when I take linzess and severe cramping and bloating, dizziness and n...
Took Linzess intermittently for the last few months from doctor provided samples, didn't work great but no real issues. Filled my first 30 day supply on June 11th and have been in agony ever since. feel like I've been punched in the gut, kidney area pain, bloating, distention, and fatigue. Doc said it wasn't from Linzess, so I kept taking it. Tested liver, pancreas, everything is normal but these stomach pains will not go away. Only thing that helps is sticking to a clear liquid diet, but I can't do that forever. Last 2 nights woke up around 4am and ran, literally ran to terlet and experienced a Dumb and Dumber type "evacuation". This morning I decided to stop the Linzess. Rather be constipated. I'll post an update. May not be the Linzess causing the issues b...
I had a drug test and was told i had ibuprofen or suboxone in my system. It has to be a false positive! Will Linzess give this false positive for suboxone? ## Can linzess and night time ibuprofen cause a reaction if taken at the same time?
