Suboxone Detox

Suboxone/Subutex should be used one way and one way only. Start with the professionally recommended dose; (usually according to one's opiate intake) and ween off of it in 5-14 days. Any longer than that and it becomes a crutch, simply trading one demon for another. I know people that have been on it for 3yrs, and when it came time to stop...HELL. I took it for a year. Mistake. I suffered worse withdrawals from that then any other before. I relapsed. Relapsed with a plan of pure Will. I used vicodin for two weeks, weened myself off and suffered much, much less. Suboxone is powerful s***, not to mention expensive. I am a member of Pills Anonymous; therefore, I am speaking not only from my own experience, but dozens of others. Trust me; save yourself. Aloha ## Thank you for your post. ...

I'm taking a sixth of the 2mg strip of suboxone.i want to know if i can take anything to help with the future tapering im gonna do. Been on a 6th sub for about 4 months now ## I also been on for 2 years ## Hello, Petra! How are you? What has your doctor advised? In many cases, they prefer to just taper it very slowly to prevent withdrawal symptoms, rather than have to prescribe more medications to treat them. Unlike Methadone, many people do manage to taper off of this one successfully and become completely drug free. The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Hi after a ten year opiate addiction I started to run out of money. I was highly functional for the 10 years home owner, business, wife, the hole nine. it was money and my own self torture that brought this to a halt. so 8 months ago I went to a treatment center in Florida not knowing if I would ever be normal again. I found myself completely incompasitated (I was in a wheel chair for two days) the dr there put me on a 5 day taper from 4 mil gram sub down to 2 in 5 days omg it worked within 3 weeks I was better and ready to go home. I felt better than I ever have so I went home and went to meetings. good things began to happen and as we do how quickly I forgot I was a sick person and stopped the meetings when the stress of everyday life came back 8 months later. I relapsed in a matter o...

ive taken 132mgs of suboxone over the last 2 weeks how can i guit ## Hello, Nolabob! How are you doing? A slow taper would be best and safest, your doctor should be able to help you set up a proper tapering schedule that will prevent most of the withdrawal effects. Have you discussed it with them, yet? This is an opiate, so withdrawal effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, fever and chills. It also carries the risk of being habit forming. ## Hey Vermon, My Dr has me on 12mg of suboxone 1 time daily I told him I wanted to get off of them asap I was sick and tired of being sick an tired Im 62 yrs old an had an addiction problem all my life or rather since I was 8or 9 yrs old . After 31 months in a state correctional facility (for a non violent crime/ misdemeanors) I was released. I started taking Suboxone 8mg and have been since May 2011. I wanted to stop taking them but I knew the detox was not going to be easy and they don't really have a detox for suboxone except for Methadone and I do not ever want to go down that road again. I relapsed 14 day's ago and started shooting dope and have not taken a sub since. I'm going to now attempt to detox myself off the dope with suboxin. Today I ate 1 lorcet and one and a half vicodin and still feel sick. It has only been maybe an hour since I ate the vicodin and will wait awhile to take another. Tonight before bed around 10pm I will take another half of vicodin and tomarrow around 10am I will take a piece o...

Yes !!! I was on 120 mg. - 180mg of methadone daily for 18 years and didn't thinkI I would ever be off methadone, but 24mg of soboxone did me good with little side effect or withdrawal. I did it in rehab and the fact is you have to be determined and dedicated. Suboxone/Subutex iwas developed in, I believe, France years ago and has been usrd succissfully in Europe for years being accepted by the FDA in 2003. Go for it. Wishing you the best. ## Hi to everyone who are wanting off methadone!!! I do not believe I could of progressed successfully without these FORUMS and SUBOXONE! I ,due to a severe injury, was on methadone for 8 yrs and got off that crap and on suboxone at the advice of a friend. I now am at 2 mgs of suboxone daily. My pain issues are mild to none and I want off subs .I went to my doctor who claims he has Much experience with this and has proven that to me...but his method is scaring me and from what I read online I am very hesitant. He prescribed me 2mg dilaudid and valium which I hate and plans to wean me off the subs. Is this right??? I can handle a mild w/d but not a heavy one due to my work. I am not looking for people tellin me to suck it up or give advice other than if the detox method described is reasonable or crazy?? Everytime I try to go below 2mg of subs I feel like hell will a dilaudid taper make it easier or start a new addiction an...

I was on suboxone 2 mg 2x a day for 4 years. I stopped cold turkey due to a request from and death of my father. 16 days until I could sleep more than 2 hours.. Days 1-5 weren't as bad as 6-14. After that it was restless legs.. Fatigue, depression, anxiety, depression again... Not until I began. Sleeping 6+ hours did most of it go away.. Still have depression and restless legs not almost 2 months later and everyday around my normal second dose time I notice I get very tired. F*** suboxone. Do not use it for more than a detox. Save yourself. If I could go back and withdraw off dope or methadone, I'd have stuck with them and not been a p**** and use sub's as a crutch. The "substance abuse" doctors give 0 s***s about you. Its all a business. $$$$ ## Unfortunately, after...

My boyfriend has been taking suboxone for over a year now. somewhere between 2mg to 8mg. i think its around 6. he decided to detox himself. so he loaded up on klonopin, nuerontin and colonadine. sorry about the spelling. he went 9 days without the suboxone the first few were pretty easy then the 5th day he was supposedly getting sick. so he tried scoring some more at the 9 day mark. i basically called all his drug dealers and convinced them to stop selling to him. he got furious and went chasing looking. not sure if he scored or not. After 9 days off shouldnt he have been clean and not feeling "deathly" ill. ## Hi Sophia, Suboxone has a very long half life. trying to detox from subone have been on 8mgs a day for 15 months need help please thank you. ## Hi confused, I hope I don,t confuse you more but heres what I did when I got down to 8mgs. By the way, it was my sub. drs. taper plan. For 2 weeks I alternated, day 1 8mgs. day2, 4mgs. day3, 8mgs.day4, back to 4mgs. This averages out to 6mgs. I kept this routine up for 2weeks then tapered to 4mgs. From the 4mgs I tapered 1mg. per week. After the last week on 1mg. I stopped completely. I was taking the strips and when I got down to 4mgs. sub dr. prescribed the 2mg strips just because it was easier to cut. Tapering this way was a walk in the park. No wds. bettween tapers. Last week on 1mg I woke up couple times thruout night but went right back to sleep. No problems after that. Been off subs s...

Okay, so I've gone through a lot on this site and nothing is really helping me with my question. I started taking methadone almost two years ago. I got up to 70mgs and stabilized for awhile then my counselor and I decided with all the positive changes I've made that tapering down would be a good option for me. I have been tapering very slow since last May "2016". By January I got to 30mgs of methadone and once I got to 26mgs I asked to be taken back up to 30mgs. I stayed on 30mgs for another month and then realized I was moving to Florida very soon. Problem is I have the state insurance and Florida programs will not accept the insurance I currently have. So, my methadone dr put me on a rapid detox which was 2mg a day. My last does was 16mgs on Saturday April 8, 2017. I w...

If I take suboxone can I drink everyday detox teas? It says it's suppose to be healthy for the liver and I wanted to try it. ## Since they are supplement products, they are not checked for possible issues and interactions with actual prescription drugs, so I'm sorry, but I don't have information on this for you. Additionally, you should be informed that there is no medical or scientific proof behind detoxing your body or liver using any of these products, according to the AMA. Your liver and body does its own thing to detox itself and there is really nothing you can do to change the process. That said, there is likely not harm in drinking the tea, though you may want to double check based on the possible ingredients, but all you will really be doing is enjoying a cup of tea....

Can a Methadone patient detox with Suboxone and what mg dose do they need to do if they are currently on 30 mg Methadone a day? And what's the procedure? Like, do they have to taper the Methadone down first, and by doing, so do they go through any withdrawal symptoms? ## Each individual is likely going to have a very different withdrawal experience due to several factors, such as tolerance to pain, reaction/tolerance to these types of medications, one's body chemistry, mental fortitude, and so forth... However it doesn't really sound like you'd be detoxing (withdrawing) much at all if your just going from one synthetic opiate to another. (Suboxone and Methadone are both used to treat patients with opioid dependency or addiction). The only thing I would strongly recommend...

I have been taking pain pills for 7 years. I detoxed myself off Methadone and I almost had a heart attack. I started using when I was 23. I hurt my back, broke my tail bone, then at 25 I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Now at 28, 13 surgeries later I'm addicted. I want my life back. I did detox myself once and for 6 months I was clean. The pain associated with detoxing was horrible. My chest hurt, my heart hurt, my legs, back, neck you name it. I have an enlarged kidney and I had a kidney stone that had to be surgically removed. That's all she wrote. I am a single mother trying to make it in this world. I have fought to save my life. At 21 I contracted an infection from a hospital after giving birth to my son. 8 days on IV antibiotics saved me, only 3% of people survive what ...

I've been using percocets for 2 years. for my fibromyalgia pain. I was taking 30 milligrams a day. now I am detoxing on suboxone for 2 days. my doctor currently gave me Savell. can I do both together or should I wait after I detox.. ## Hello, Tina! How are you? Are you just working with your regular doctor on this? The Suboxone likely isn't appropriate for someone taking just 30mgs a day, it's meant to be used to treat hardcore drugs addicts, not someone that's just been dependent on something for pain. And are you referring to Savella? In respect to it, what instructions did your doctor provide you for when to start it?

On day 6 and feel alone. Anyone want to talk. How much longer before I can get up and have some energy? ## Hi DeeDee, I realize what you're going through may be very difficult now, but know that there are numerous people here who have experience overcoming the same kind of situation; and as challenging as it may seem in the moment there is a light at the end of each tunnel. When one door closes another opens, but you just have to keep your thoughts looking in the right place. I'm not familiar with how long withdrawal symptoms from Subuxone can last for, although it sounds to me like it would be a good idea to ask your doctor about trying various treatment options to help alleviate the severity of it. I've also heard about people using ginseng and B-vitamins for getting that ...

On day 4 of sub detox, starting 5th day this evening. Anyone else out there doing this? Would love someone to chat with. ## Hello, DeeDee! How are you? I've never taken Suboxone, so I have no experience with coming off of it, but I can tell you that according to the FDA, some of the withdrawal symptoms may include nausea, headache, rebound pain, diarrhea and chills. How are you feeling? Is it going well? Others should be warned that this medication is a narcotic opiate, so it can be habit forming and withdrawing should only be done under the supervision of your doctor.

Woke up this am feeling great, been off suboxone for almost 2 days. Slept great too! Been reading my bible and praying. Going to look to get some B12 . ## Awesome, DeeDee! I'm very glad that you're doing so well. It's only been 2 days, so you may still experience some withdrawal symptoms, so please be on the watch for them. According to the NIH, they may include nausea, drowsiness, fever/chills and diarrhea. What dosage were you taking and how long were you on it?

I switched last week Sunday(today is Saturday 6 days later) from a daily dose of 60mg methadone to a daily dose of 8mg suboxone. I went 4 days of detox hell and even though I thought I was going to absolutely die, I did it because I thought that switching to subo was a better option than the many downfalls of daily trips to the methadone clinic. I have taken subo before and it worked well, gave me that energetic upbeat feeling that methadone gave me. Made me feel good, but normal good. Well, since I started the suboxone again a couple days ago I feel NOTHING. I feel tired, achy, no energy, and no lil boost of pep like I did on the methadone and like I did the last time on subo. What gives? Im crabby, tired, cold, achy, have I made a horrible mistake and should have stayed on the methado...

I took my last sub a week ago as of today. And throughout that week took 3 total 10 MG Lortabs. I tried detoxing before but it was too harsh. I have been taking plenty of vitamins and excersising. I'm wondering how long until I'm in the clear? ## How are you doing? Did you experience any withdrawal problems? The FDA lists withdrawal symptoms as possibly including nausea, fever, chills, rebound pain and diarrhea. What dose were you taking? ## I'm okay. Took a Lortab the other day because I am just so tired of being depressed. I know I shouldn't have but the depression is the worst
