What is difference between the two pills?which one is stronger ## Hello, Punkin! How are you? The tablet with the AN 617 marking is manufactured by Amneal Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 37.5mgs of Tramadol and 325mgs of Acetaminophen. However, the tablet with the 377 marking is manufactured by Caraco Pharmaceuticals and they list is only containing 50mgs of Tramadol, so it is the stronger one. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I've been taking the Tramadol/APAP 325 with Acetaminophen for many years as I have Fibromyalgia. My doctor just changed it to Tramadol 50mg. Is that stronger? I'm feeling a bit dizzy or lightheaded now. ## Hello, Carolyn! How are you? Yes, the 50mg tablet is stronger, since the combination medication is only available with 37.5mgs of Tramadol and 325mgs of Acetaminophen. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you so much for the info. I was on the combo Tramadol for over 10 years. I'm blessed to not have addictive tendencies so this change is actually better since my pa...

I've been taking tylenol #4 with codeine for over 18 years now for pain management. I would like to know what is the next step up because its not as effective anymore. I currently take 12 tablets a day. ## Hello Thoyt! Wow! I'm sorry you're in so much pain. That's a lot of it to be taken in one day, you're exceeding the 3,000mgs daily limit issued by the FDA or Acetaminophen. This medication is classified as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. The next step up would probably be Tramadol or Hydrocodone, with the first being the weakest and they latter being the strongest. Does anyone else have any suggestions? ## Codeine is not recommended for l...

with neuropathy of the legs & deterioration on the verterbae in the neck #5-#8, i need something mellow feeling & strong enough to combat the pain: what is the next level above ah647? ## Hello, Angela! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. This tablet is manufactured by Amneal Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 50mgs of Tramadol, which is actually a very mild opioid analgesic. Thus, most others available are stronger, including Norco, Dilaudid, Roxicodone and many others. Have you discussed it with your doctor? They should be able to help you discover which one might be best for you. The FDA classifies these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness,...

Is there any tramadol that contains codeine? I was given a white oblong capsule and was told it was tramadol with codeine... ## No, Tramadol is an opioid narcotic that is actually stronger than Codeine. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, and dizziness. What are the markings on the tablet? That is what would enable me to double check the active ingredients for you. Can you please post back with more details? Thanks!

Is tramadol stronger than hydrocodone/acetaminophen 5-325 ## Hello, Valnez! How are you? These two medications really aren't comparable, the Hydrocodone with Acetaminophen is much stronger, since it's a traditional narcotic analgesic. Learn more Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen details here. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Is there ANY RISK at taking BOTH Tramadol and Hydrocodone? My Husband has been taking Hydro's 10/325 for over 10 years, 4x a day, and has from time to time taking Tramadol with it. He is seemingly suffering from reoccurring kidney infections. I have yet to see him pass a stone. But I am...

Is 50mg of tramadol the same as 3/325 of tramadol? ## Hi Penny, To answer your question, no, there actually isn't a 3/325mg dosage of Tramadol since those numbers refer to two separate medications and dosages. As far as dosing goes, the usual recommended dose of tramadol is 50-100 mg (immediate release tablets) every 4-6 hours as needed for pain. The maximum dose is marked at 400 mg/day. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Tramadol Details I hope this helps!

Is tylenol 3 equal to tramadol 50 mg? I want to know the difference between the two pills and which one is more effective for pain? Thanks! ## Tylenol 3 contains Acetaminophen and Codeine, it is actually very mild, but the Tramadol is only moderately stronger. The NIH warns that both carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Which one works best for you?

I was prescribed Tramadol by my primary physician for years. I was in a motor vehicle accident and was rear-ended by a heavy duty truck (cement mixer). It caused severe back pain and sciatica. My pain is constant. I was able to live my life while on tramadol. Then the opioid scare hit and my physician told me she could no longer prescribe them and offered no help to get me of them. Isn't it the obligation of the physician to wean the patient off or offer an alternative? I did not want to take anything stronger because I could not function. My physician gave me the name of a pain clinic but did nothing to assist me in getting an appointment. I called them and the soonest appointment is 2 months out. I have been thru hell going from taking two 50 mg tablets 3 times a day to nothing. I...

red kali 083 ## WHAT IS IT USED FOR? ## This is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, it contains both Acetaminophen and Tramadol so it is a little stronger than just Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen alone. It is non-narcotic, so it is really mild and only helps with minor aches and pain.

I am in so much pain and was wondering what med is better for pain. ## Sorry to hear about the extent of your pain. However, it's important to know that what works for someone else may not necessarily work the same for you. While tramadol is often touted as a much weaker pain medication than your typical narcotic, (i.e percocet), I'm sure it also depends on several underlying factors (such as one's tolerance to pain meds, severity of pain, etc...) I would probably place my bet on the percocet being stronger though. But it sounds like you should definitely discuss this with your doctor if you've been contemplating this for a while. Stronger doesn't always mean better...at least when it comes to tapering off. I hope this helps!

I am currently reducing off of subutex. s I am on such a low dose (4.5ml) I was wonderin if I could use tramadol to help with the final reduction. Can I take the two vogether? ## Hello, Budge! How are you? Tramadol is an opioid, so the Subutex will likely block it from having any effect. It tends to take a stronger hold on your opiate receptors than the others and prevents them from doing anything. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. What has your doctor advised?

I took a tramadol around 1 pm today. I now need another pain reliever, was wondering how long should I wait to take Tylenol with codiene? ## Hello, Jen! How are you? It is best to be cautious, because Tramadol can sometimes initiate withdrawals in people that are opiate dependent, if you try to mix them. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. What dosage is the Tramadol that you're taking? Each 50mg dose of Tramadol is equivalent to 33.33mgs of Codeine, so your Tramadol might actually be stronger.

I would like to know which drug is similar to tramadol but can be taken with lexapro? ## Unfortunately, from what I am finding, all of the centrally acting analgesics in that class can cause problems with Serotonin Syndrome, if they are taken with the Lexapro. The same warnings come up for the other options, such as Tapentadol: Has your doctor recommended anything? ## As usual Verwon has been to the reference library. It is true that really only the relatively new to market tapentadol HCl, branded Palexia, Tapal, and in USA Nucynta, is similar in that it is both a mild opioid and SNRI. Tramadol is the stronger drug mg for mg, but is not much more potent than the true opioid dihydrocodeine tartrate. Both of the atypical drugs with SNRI action are partial mu-antagonists. Onset of action a...

What is the difference between Lortab 7.5 and Tramadol 50mg? I have severe pain from severe enamel loss on my teeth due to Gastroesophigal Reflux Disease and have been prescribed pain meds until i can have my teeth extracted. I have been prescribed both of these (not at the same time) and found the Lortab 7.5 to work better to control the pain. I also feel very dizzy while taking the Tramadol and doesn't seem to relieve the pain as much. Any thoughts, suggestions or info? ## The Tramadol is derived from an opiate, but doesn't have the same pain relieving effects, so the Lortab is stronger, because it actually has the narcotic Hydrocodone in it. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsin...

I'm taking 500 mg naproxen and 2each apap/codiene #3 300/30 for sciatic nerve pain. I'm Still in Pain! What can I take in addition to this combination without putting myself in further health risks? (I have Tramadol, Alieve and arthritis strength Tylenol on hand) ## Hello, Frances! How are you? Are you sure that it's sciatic? It's kind of funny, but given all of my knowledge of medications, side effects, and etc. I didn't know until recently, when my husband mentioned it, that sometimes the sacral area is thought to be related to the same area, and he was right. Totally changed how I handle the pain. As to the medications, given how much you've already taken, you need to consult your doctor, because it looks like you might need a stronger medication to alleviate ...

I ran out of tramadol and can't see dr. for a few days. What can I take to avoid withdrawal symptoms ## There is a product called Kratom used for people on Tramadol as a replacement and it also replaces methadone for withdrawals for those on stronger opioids. There's a number of articles from numerous sources posted here and it's available (so far) without a script. Buying Tramadol now that it's controlled from Mexico or offshore is now very risky since it's classified as controlled. US Customs has the right to come after purchasers since the amendment to the Consumer Protection Act signed in April 2008 makes it illegal to sell or buy controlled meds off the internet w/o a dr's Rx so be careful. Read the reviews and see if it's right for you. Because it acts ...

Multiple knee surgeries; bone spur on L heel secondary to limping on right leg for years; spondylolysthesis in back. Prescribed 1-2 Percocet(s) per night (5-325) to help sleep and Tramadol (50mgs, up to 4Xday). If my first 2 Trams haven't touched my pain (fell 2 days ago), would taking the remaining 2, plus the Percocets, have any kind of additive analgesic effect? Or would the stronger Perc render the Tram unnoticeable? Should mention I'm a pill horse: since childhood, I've had to take higher doses to get effects, w/ any drugs. I'm 5'11" and 185. ## Hello, Tristan! How are you? No, you shouldn't take more than prescribed, per dose, or you may overdose. Both of these medications are considered opiate analgesics, so taking more at once could place you at risk....

I have osteoarthritic hips and run a restaurant, I am on my feet 5-6 hours a day. I currently take meloxicam 3-4 days a week with Tylenol Arthritis. I need something stronger, would Tramadol 50mg be a better choice? Could I take them both in the morning safely? ## Tramadol is classified as an opiate, by FDA standards, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. As to your other question, it depends on what you want to take it with? I'm sorry, but your post wasn't clear. Can you please post back and clarify? Thank you!
