Skin Itching

I am 24 years old and I have had an on and off skin rash on the top of my left foot and one on my outside of my right shoulder for the past 2-3 years. Same two places always. I have not been to the dermatologist because they seem to go away if I can leave them alone and not scratch them. When I do get them they stay for awhile because I can't stop scratching them (maybe due to stress). The past month they have been itching the hell out of me and I can't stop scratching. I have tried all types of lotions and creams that you can buy at a walgreens but they only work for a little bit then back to scratching. I asked the pharmacist for his 'expert opinion' and he said I should try something stronger like cordran tape that covers the area and prevents me from scratching it. I...

My skin itches after taking a bath. I have changed soaps and body lotions ## Hello, Sybza! How are you doing? What about your shampoo and conditioner, if you use any? Those typically wash down over the body, when you're using them and then rinse them off, so that's also something you should look into. How about your towels and the detergent and/or fabric softener you use on them? What type of water do you have? All could be culprits. Have you consulted your doctor?

I have been on Lovastain for three years. My eyes are itching like crazy. I itch all over at night. Has anybody else had this problem? ## Hello, Sherry! How are you? I don't see anything about the itchy eyes, but this medication is reported by the FDA as being known to cause the all over body itching. Other side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and joint/muscle aches. Are you on any other medications? If the body itching just occurs at night, it could be due to a circulation issue. I used to experience with certain blood pressure medications that I was taking. Have you had this checked out, yet to get a diagnosis?

Please. Provide. Drug. As. I. Had already tried citrizen5 Hcl 5 mg. And. Zyrtec 10 mg. hcl. Tbt. Also benadrl tbt I. ## Do you mean that you have itching that's only occurring at night? If so, it may not be due to an allergy, which could be why the antihistamines haven't helped. If it's only happening at night, with no other triggers, then it may just be due to a circulation problem, that can cause skin itching. Have you consulted a doctor?

I am suffering from severe itching in my inner thighs where the underwear borders touch the skin and also arm pit and groins. I had taken medicines for about three months and during this period the problem just seems gone but the same problem is back with great fury. I have severe itching especially at night. As far as I remember I had tried some yeast bread and also had been on antibiotic medicine a year and a half back. 72 year old male, had colon surgery a month ago. now skin itching on the back and legs. ## Hello, Zeke! How are you? Are you on any other medications? If you had to take medications to clean your colon out, before the surgery, there's a chance you're dehydrated and your skin is drying out. I've experienced that myself, when I was in the hospital for congestive heart failure. My skin got so dry and itchy that it was actually peeling off, like a healing sunburn. Have you had it checked out by your doctor? The FDA does list that antibiotics can cause a non-allergic skin rash, as well as an allergic rash, so you should have this looked at.

I was removed from an antidepressant coctail 5 years ago and put on Prozac. It works for depression, but I have developed a horrible itching problem which I wonder if may be related to this drug. I have had diagnostics for everything. No rash. Just an increasing inability to tolerate any irritation to skin surface without literally months of horrible itching. I am being tortured to death. The itching started a few weeks after starting the treatment and became more noticeable with time. I have stopped the tablets and have taken an anti-histamine, which seems to help. The low blood pressure (76/59) issue following my regular runs (4 miles) may not be directly attributable to Lercanidipine (10mg) because I also take Losartan (50mg). I have tried other BP meds - all with side effects, including one that produced swollen ankles with small pink spots. I have been on Eliquis 2xs a dsy since March for a blood clot in my left calf (not deep) & small ones in my left lung. I have been having severe itching every time I eat anything. The itch is in dif places all the time. It is waring on my nerves. I also use Symbicort steroid inhaler for asthma/allergies which I find makes my skin thin so when I scratch, I bleed a little so I have tiny scabs all over me. Hello sir. I have been using Clonate cream for one year due to its effect my skin got redness and itching. I consulted with doctor he gave fucibet ointment to overcome that problem but the solution is not permanent. I am taking Lisinopril-hydrochlorothiazide 10-12.5. I have been taking it for about 1 yr now. I usded to use a lotion called SARNA which contained Camphor 0.5%, Menthol 0.5% and Phenol 0.5%. I understand this was taken off the market because Phenol was not considered a good product to be included in a lotion. Can anyone suggest another produce similar as SARNA really helped my issue. It was originally prescribed by a skin specialist.

I have been having itching, burning, and inflammation in my perineum region... it feels like pin pricks and the skin seems to be getting thin. I am using petroleum jelly and a little Valbet which is beclomethasone, dipropionate, miconazole nitrate, & neomycin which earlier was good on the bruised skin after itching but not now. When I had the chicken pox as child my doctor prescribed a little gray pill for itching. Many pills were left over, and for years afterward, whenever my mom or dad or I had a cough, we would take the pill to stop the nagging itching in the back of our throats. This pill worked well, even after the expiration date, and nobody died. This pills was prescribed in the 1960s, the doctor is deceased, so we cannot go back into the medical records to find the name of the pill. does coQ10 help with the itching? ## Because itching is listed as a "serious" side effect of Simvastatin on government webpages, it is recommend that you contact your doctor immediately as opposed to using other means of controlling the itching. Ref: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a692030.html#side-effects It could be due to a serious allergic reaction; in which case you'd essentially have to stop taking what's causing the reaction in the first place before noticing any results. NOTE: The MayoClinic also states that Coenzyme Q10 may cause rashes and itching of the skin in some people taking the supplement. That said, it's possible that this may not even be a good option after all. I hope this info helps to answer your question!
