I am taking the antipsychotic Seroquel, what is the normal dosage one should take? ## I take 1400 mgs of seroquel a day is this normal ? ## Although that is way too much for me, its a common dosage amount for some. Alzheimer patients and those with severe psychosis often get 3500 mg and up according to my doc. I was prescribed 50 mg per day 5 years ago for shift work disorder. (an off label use) About an hour later I've got quite the buzz, and sleep well. ## I was told 800mg is the max dosage however I don't know your history. My Dr. started me at 300mg on Seroquel is this a safe dose. Im scared to take it. ## I have read that seroquel can be prescribed for up to 600 mg but I have never heard of 300 to start. My pdoc started me at 50mg for two nights, then Im supposed to increase it by 50mg every two nights until we get to 200 mg. Im a 5ft 5 1/2inc woman who weighs 130. Maybe the dosage is depending on your weight- I don't know. ## No. Seroquel, Seroquel XR and other meds have a dose schedule. Look for "prescribing info" from the manufacturer. For Seroquel XR the dose info is clear. The 1st day you take a low dose (50mg). Increase dosage each day. On day 4 take 300mg . If you miss a few days, lower your dose and start over. Take the smallest dose that works or do not take an Antipsychotic.

Hi, I've been on 300mg Seroquel 4 years. My pharmacy doesn't have any currently but said they have Zyprexa. Does anyone know what Zyprexa mg equals 300mg of Seroquel ? My doctor is out of town till next week, then I will ask him too. I've been on Seroquel 30pmg at night for about a year now. My dr has prescribed Neurontin 300 ( for pain) 3 times a day one at night for 7 days then increase to 2 a day and so on. Ive had the neurontin for a while now but havent taken it I started back two days ago My job is very stressful I have to be at the top of my game. I have found myself being tired and a little loopy, this is why Ive started in the past and then stopped twice. If I continue the neurontin until it gets in my system will that change?? I would like to know if anyone has experienced skin and muscle mass changes while on Seroquel? I was put on this medication by my psychiatrist almost a year ago to help with manic depressive disorder and sleep problems. At first it seemed to do a wonderful job with minimal side effects (increased appetite and a bit of a dry mouth). I then was given a gradual increase in dosage when sleep problems started to become a problem again. At the increased dosage of 400 mg daily, I noticed that my skin was suddenly taking on a crinkly, crepe paper like appearance and there was a dramatic change in my leg and arm muscle mass with dramatic weakness and leg muscle pain so severe at night that it awakens me from sleep. I gained 30 pounds on this drug and I hate it. My Dr prescribed me a high dose of 400 mg at night and then 25 mg three times a day a day for anxiety. I am taking Seroquel for a depressive episode that began almost three months ago, gradually increasing the dosage until I have now been at 150 mg. Seroquel xr for the past 24 days. Throughout this time I have suffered severe hangovers from the Seroquel (drowsiness, severe headache, lack of energy). My psychiatrist tells me that these side effects will lessen or disappear as I build up my tolerance to the drug, but now I've gone 24 days without increasing the dosage and the side effects continue. I am having trouble withdrawing from Seroquel. I used to take 100mg for sleep, but managed to bring my dosage down to 25mg. However, I started to have anxiety problems and went back to 50 mg. Since then I've been shaving the 50 mg pill down to 3/4 of a pill. However I get very tired and groggy. If I try to shave it down further I get anxiety that only improves when I take more seroquel. It seems like I have a choice between anxious and groggy. I've been taking seroquel xr 200mg x 2 a day. I've been taking it for a year and a half now and I'm wanting to have a baby but I'm scared to death of the withdrawals. I've read some scary stories as well as dangers of the drug I wasn't aware of. Any advise/suggestions? ## Hello, Niki! How are you? I would suggest consulting your doctor. Benadryl dosage is to take 1 or 2, I take 4 or 5 every night. I know it's not good to do but allergies keep coming and my allergist keeps telling me to do what i'm doing right now. I have had serious difficulty swallowing my meds for 2 years+. I have had to crush and put in water, chew or not take at all. In doing so, My throat is constantly sore and inflamed.My meds get stuck every time when I don't, and have even gotten into my nasal cavities somehow during trying to swallow. A close friend of mine has been taking Seroquel for about a year now and I think her current dosage is around 400-600mg/day. This drug was prescribed to her to treat anxiety and for sleep issues. I have spent time with her after she has taken this medication and its horrible. She acts like she is drunk. She has almost no short-term memory and forgets things she talked about just moments before. She slurs her words and becomes rather uncoordinated. And she has no recollection of what she said or did the following day. Is it safe to take 100mg of Pristiq and 10mg of Buspar and 250mg of Seroquel together? I didn't know how much serotonin all those combined would be or if those 3 meds are ok to take together. Thanks! ## Hello, Beka! How are you? Have they all been prescribed for you? Two that can raise your serotonin levels are the Pristiq and the Buspar. It isn't that they can't be taken together, but that your doctor should carefully adjust the dosage and they should be monitoring your regularly in case any problems develop. According to the FDA the symptoms for Serotonin syndrome may possibly include increased heart rate, shivering, sweating, dilated pupils and twitching. They will also be of very rapid onset.
