Seroquel And Dosage
27 Topics FoundI am taking the antipsychotic Seroquel, what is the normal dosage one should take? ## I take 1400 mgs of seroquel a day is this normal ? ## Although that is way too much for me, its a common dosage amount for some. Alzheimer patients and those with severe psychosis often get 3500 mg and up according to my doc. I was prescribed 50 mg per day 5 years ago for shift work disorder. (an off label use) About an hour later I've got quite the buzz, and sleep well. ## I was told 800mg is the max dosage however I don't know your history. I was on 25mg for 7 years and it worked better then than my.200mg I now take.for bipolar. It is an amazing drug once your body gets used to it. My dr explained it like a shotgun shell. It is one pill that works differently on each person but works for depr...
My Dr. started me at 300mg on Seroquel is this a safe dose. Im scared to take it. ## I have read that seroquel can be prescribed for up to 600 mg but I have never heard of 300 to start. My pdoc started me at 50mg for two nights, then Im supposed to increase it by 50mg every two nights until we get to 200 mg. Im a 5ft 5 1/2inc woman who weighs 130. Maybe the dosage is depending on your weight- I don't know. ## No. Seroquel, Seroquel XR and other meds have a dose schedule. Look for "prescribing info" from the manufacturer. For Seroquel XR the dose info is clear. The 1st day you take a low dose (50mg). Increase dosage each day. On day 4 take 300mg . If you miss a few days, lower your dose and start over. Take the smallest dose that works or do not take an Antipsychotic.
Hi, I've been on 300mg Seroquel 4 years. My pharmacy doesn't have any currently but said they have Zyprexa. Does anyone know what Zyprexa mg equals 300mg of Seroquel ? My doctor is out of town till next week, then I will ask him too. Thank you. ## I would confirm with a pharmacist but if I do some math based on the findings in this pubmed article, which states: Doses equivalent to 100 mg/day of chlorpromazine were 2 mg/day for risperidone, 5 mg/day for olanzapine, 75 mg/day for quetiapine, 60 mg/day for ziprasidone, and 7.5 mg/day for aripiprazole. So if we take that at face value and assume that 5 mg/day Olanzapine (Zyprexa) is equivalent to 75 mg/day Queiapine (Seroquel): 5 / 75 ~ 0.0667 Therefore, 300 mg Seroquel * 0.0667 ~ 20 mg Zyprexa. Please note that clinical effects (li...
I've been on Seroquel 30pmg at night for about a year now. My dr has prescribed Neurontin 300 ( for pain) 3 times a day one at night for 7 days then increase to 2 a day and so on. Ive had the neurontin for a while now but havent taken it I started back two days ago My job is very stressful I have to be at the top of my game. I have found myself being tired and a little loopy, this is why Ive started in the past and then stopped twice. If I continue the neurontin until it gets in my system will that change?? It works for the pain but I dont like the loopy feeling.. ## Side effects are usually transient and tend to go away, once your body gets used to a medication, but that may take about 4 to 6 weeks of being on one steady dosage. The FDA lists other Neurontin side effects as possibl...
I want to know what would happen if Seroquel is prescribed to a man of 180lbs and this dosage is given to a woman of 110 pounds. ## The most that will happen is you will sleep for about 12 hours. I have taken 3 50mg at one time and I am still here no problems ## Drugs effect everyone differently, so even though you weigh more, what is an appropriate dose for one person is NOT necessarily safe for another person. When you doctor prescribes a certain dosage, they have to consider many factors, including medication tolerance. ## I take 500 mg of Seroquel for Bipolar, and al0so take 3 two milligrams of Xanax daily. (total of 6 mgs of xanax a day. The only thing bad about Seroquel is the potential for diabetes and EXTREME weight gain. ## i take 300mg of seroquel every night before bed .all i...
I would like to know if anyone has experienced skin and muscle mass changes while on Seroquel? I was put on this medication by my psychiatrist almost a year ago to help with manic depressive disorder and sleep problems. At first it seemed to do a wonderful job with minimal side effects (increased appetite and a bit of a dry mouth). I then was given a gradual increase in dosage when sleep problems started to become a problem again. At the increased dosage of 400 mg daily, I noticed that my skin was suddenly taking on a crinkly, crepe paper like appearance and there was a dramatic change in my leg and arm muscle mass with dramatic weakness and leg muscle pain so severe at night that it awakens me from sleep. My skin has become so paper thin that when I shave my legs, they bleed. At the ag...
I gained 30 pounds on this drug and I hate it. My Dr prescribed me a high dose of 400 mg at night and then 25 mg three times a day a day for anxiety. Well I decided to stop taking it and taper myself off. Right now I'm down to 50mg at night. ## Hello, Pyper! How are you? Yes, many of these types of medications can cause weight gain as a side effect. How are you doing with such a drastic dosage cut? Any withdrawal symptoms, such as worsening depression or anxiety? How long were you taking it? ## Verwon I have been on Seroquel for one year. Yes I am experiencing a little increase in anxiety and depression, but its nothing I cant deal with. Besides, I already lost three pounds. Yippee..
I am taking Seroquel for a depressive episode that began almost three months ago, gradually increasing the dosage until I have now been at 150 mg. Seroquel xr for the past 24 days. Throughout this time I have suffered severe hangovers from the Seroquel (drowsiness, severe headache, lack of energy). My psychiatrist tells me that these side effects will lessen or disappear as I build up my tolerance to the drug, but now I've gone 24 days without increasing the dosage and the side effects continue. I am taking solely Seroquel xr (not ir) and try to take it as early in the evening as possible, usually anytime from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Do these side effects disappear eventually at the 150 mg. dosage or should I begin tapering off this drug? I also heard that the side effects disappear ...
I am having trouble withdrawing from Seroquel. I used to take 100mg for sleep, but managed to bring my dosage down to 25mg. However, I started to have anxiety problems and went back to 50 mg. Since then I've been shaving the 50 mg pill down to 3/4 of a pill. However I get very tired and groggy. If I try to shave it down further I get anxiety that only improves when I take more seroquel. It seems like I have a choice between anxious and groggy. Do you have any suggestions for how I could get off of seroquel completely while minimizing the grogginess and/or anxiety? ## Have you consulted your doctor for assistance? Seroquel contains the active ingredient Quetiapine, which is an antipsychotic and a sudden cessation of any medication that has an effect on brain chemicals is going to cau...
I've been taking seroquel xr 200mg x 2 a day. I've been taking it for a year and a half now and I'm wanting to have a baby but I'm scared to death of the withdrawals. I've read some scary stories as well as dangers of the drug I wasn't aware of. Any advise/suggestions? ## Hello, Niki! How are you? I would suggest consulting your doctor. They will be able to help you with a proper and safe way to taper off of the medication, before you become pregnant. That would be far better than trying to get ideas on internet. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I've tried to taper off with my doctors approval but I was got so sick after changing the dosage one time. I was hoping there may be a vitamin or a supplement to help with the withdrawals.
Hello, I have been on the following dosages of Seroquel for some anxuety issues: 2005-2010: 200 mgs at bedtime 2010-2011: 100 mgs at bedtime since 2012 to now (early 2013) I have been on 50mgs of Seroquel at bedtime. I wanted to ask for those with experience and knowledge on this medication or the anti psychotics in general: -after I am down to 0 mgs of this medication, how long will it take for me to return to the way I was before starting the meciation in term of my make up. -will the weight gain stop ( have went from 180 to 194 in the last 8 years)? -will the metabolism be alright (speed up again)? -will I be able to drink again normally? -Do you think the negative effects it may have had on my body have been decreased since my body is used to the medication over these years -*-And i...
Benadryl dosage is to take 1 or 2, I take 4 or 5 every night. I know it's not good to do but allergies keep coming and my allergist keeps telling me to do what i'm doing right now. Any bad side effect? Is this the reason why I got allergic to 14 medications? Only 4 were alletgy medicines. Zolpidem isn't long term but I can't sleep without as I take it with my pain meds, Xolaire, Ranitidine, and Benadryl. Made records on insomnia. Doctor overdosed me and didn't want to get in trouble. 53 days of no sleep as I was on Trazidone, Temazepam, Seroquel, and Ambian. Only sharing that info because of thisvquestion: Is this part of the reason as to why i'm getting allergic to some the second time I go on them again? Not trying to whine BUT my allergist told me; "Your a ha
Filed under BenadrylIs a dosage of 400 mg of seroquel too strong? Only taking 1 makes a family member sleep in a near coma-state? Also seeing some labored breathing. Should we go to a hospital for that? ## Hello, Jennie! How are you? It could be too strong of a dose for them. The sleeping isn't a major concern, because that usually tends to improve, once their body gets used to the medication, but that may take 4 to 5 weeks. However, the labored breathing is something that should be addressed by their doctor. The FDA lists the other typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight gain. Are they on any other medications? ## Yes, she was prescribed 800 mg of Seroquel but only takes one per day because sleeping so much. She is also prescribed...
I have had serious difficulty swallowing my meds for 2 years+. I have had to crush and put in water, chew or not take at all. In doing so, My throat is constantly sore and inflamed. My meds get stuck every time when I don't, and have even gotten into my nasal cavities somehow during trying to swallow. I am seriously at my wits end, please help! ## Most medications are available in liquid form, since many people have trouble swallowing tablets. Not all, but the FDA does have some they've approved, so it is always worth asking your doctor for alternative dosage forms. As to your throat being sore and inflamed, if you have dissolved the tablets, you may need to take something to prevent the acidity that they can cause, such as an antacid. So, that's another option you can ask yo...
I think I'm having a bad side effect. Like hitters and really bad anxiety. Need help. Please. I'm on 50mg of seroquel and 280 mg methadone daily. ## Hello, Peter! How are you doing? Some caution does need to be taken, when taking these medications together, because they can increase the toxicity of each other, so that could be what's causing your problem. Have you consulted your doctor? You may need them to make a dosage adjustment. ## I am on 101mg of methadone (9yrs) and just got prescribed elival for sleep. Will the elival put me in methadone withdrawal ??? ## You need to get off of seroquel right now, and educate yourself. Combining a tranquilizer strong enough to kill a lion, with methadone? A medication that takes 6 hours to kick it, so you cant gauge how much to dose ...
A close friend of mine has been taking Seroquel for about a year now and I think her current dosage is around 400-600mg/day. This drug was prescribed to her to treat anxiety and for sleep issues. I have spent time with her after she has taken this medication and its horrible. She acts like she is drunk. She has almost no short-term memory and forgets things she talked about just moments before. She slurs her words and becomes rather uncoordinated. And she has no recollection of what she said or did the following day. She has developed such a dependency that she is now taking the Seroquel late in the afternoon, is in bed by 7pm and will sleep for 10+ hours. She has tried drugs like Cymbalta and Lyrica with no effect. From what I have researched, prescribing Seroquel for anxiety is rather...
Is it safe to take 100mg of Pristiq and 10mg of Buspar and 250mg of Seroquel together? I didn't know how much serotonin all those combined would be or if those 3 meds are ok to take together. Thanks! ## Hello, Beka! How are you? Have they all been prescribed for you? Two that can raise your serotonin levels are the Pristiq and the Buspar. It isn't that they can't be taken together, but that your doctor should carefully adjust the dosage and they should be monitoring your regularly in case any problems develop. According to the FDA the symptoms for Serotonin syndrome may possibly include increased heart rate, shivering, sweating, dilated pupils and twitching. They will also be of very rapid onset.
I want to know the Brand Names for Fludac 20 mg, Side Effects and Drug Interactions with other psychotropic medications including Prozac, Sertraline 50 mg (Brand Name Zoloft), Bupropion SR 150 mg (Brand Name Wellbutrin), Clonazepam 1 mg (Brand Name Klonipin), and Seroquel 300 mg. ## Fludac is one of the brand names, the active ingredient/generic is actually Fluoxetine. As to the other ones that may be available, it depends on what country you are in, but what you would want to look for or ask your doctor and pharmacist about are other medications that contain Fluoxetine. As to the Prozac, it is also actually Fluoxetine, so you wouldn't be able to use them both. If you use it with the Bupropion, the dosage has to be carefully adjusted, because it can increase the risk of seizures. Th...
How much helps how long does it take to work please help I take 200 serQuel and 2 mg risperdL ## Hi, Theresa! I'm sorry that you're having this problem. Have you consulted your doctor? These medications can be very dangerous if used improperly, or if you take too much, so it's not safe to try to adjust your dosage on your own. If you are suffering from racing thoughts and the medications aren't helping, then consult your doctor for a dosage adjustment or try a different medication. Learn more Seroquel details here.
