Sedation

So I was recently prescribed lorazepam (Ativan) (1mg), and took it this morning. This was the third day I had taken it. The first two times, I had no problem. It worked great. But today, I found myself unbelievably sleepy and had to leave class and come home and sleep. I never had this problem before. Granted, I had a bad night of sleep last night, but woke up fine… until I took the Ativan. Any thoughts here as to how to avoid the sleepiness that it may bring next time? Please don't say "get a better night's rest", because that is not the only reason here. But anything else is appreciated!! ## I can't take Lorazepam because it snows me & makes me so so tired. Has anyone undergone Propofol Sedation for a medical procedure while on Oxycodone? I take prescribed Oxycodone daily, and am concerned about upcoming colonoscopy which will require Propofol sedation. If I don’t take oxy during 12 hr fast I will be in withdrawal before the procedure, but I’m concerned about interaction if I do take it. Has anyone gone thru this? ## You’re fine. They do this all the time for many different kinds of procedures and people on many different kinds of opioids. I take Norco and they tell me I can take it in the morning that I have the procedure. I am having minor surgery in about eight days. I have been taking about 8mg of Suboxone for opiate addiction for the past four months. The sedation for my surgery typically requires iv fentanyl and iv versed, however since I am taking Suboxone, this combination will not be effective. I was advised to take more than my usual dose of Suboxone the day of the procedure and will only be administered the iv versed. I was told the higher does of sub WITH the versed will make me comfortable enough to tolerate any pain. I am very scared this is not going to help my pain and I will feel everything!!! I know the versed will help anxiety, but will upping the dose of my sub really work for pain??? I am trying to find more of a understanding about the use of Bicitra with regard to Gastro Esophigal Reflux Disease. hi :) thank you for this service you are providing! I am having a colonoscopy procedure in **3 days from today**. I have been told I will be sedated (asleep) during this procedure. I have taken methamphetamine 6 hours ago and I'm worried if there is a chance making this stupid decision tonight will affect negatively on me when I am put to sleep for my gastrointestinal exam. i am experiencing extreme sedation on three seperate doses of 100 mg phenytoin sodium ext daily . should i try 2 doses for a while to limit the sedation. i have nocturnal seizures. should 200 mg be sufficient ## Have you consulted your doctor? How does seroquil interact with clonazepam? ## Both of these medications can cause sedation, so taking them together can increase that effect. It isn't listed as being extremely dangerous, but that your usage of them both should be monitored by your doctor regularly. You should also know to watch for any danger signs, such as extreme dizziness and drowsiness, shallow breathing and low pulse rate.
