I'm a 51 yr. old female who woke up on April 7, 2011, with an extremely salty taste in my mouth. When I tried to drink water to wash it out, it was like drinking salt gargle water. Nothing I eat or drink makes it go away. I can't stand to put anything in my mouth that is salty because the salt taste already in my mouth makes it almost unswallowable. Prior to that day, I have only 2 regular medications that I take daily: Lisinopril 40 mg( increased from 20 mg in mid November) for high BPas well as HCTZ 25 mg(been taking Lisinopril for 8 years) and 1mg of ropinorole(generic for Requip) for RLS (taking for almost 6 years). Since this is a hormone, it could also be causing dry mouth, which could also be causing it. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and irregular bleeding. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have a cracked tongue, mostly in the front and have this salty taste in my mouth. When I eat foods it stings...the salty taste has been in my mouth for a few months. I have been taking Cmbalta for aout a year and have been experienceing a really bad, almost salty taste in my mouth for just about the same length of time. Has anyone out there had this same problem? My dentist says that there is nothing he can find, so I am hoping that someone can help me out. Please also let me know if you have experienced this same effect with other antidepressents. I used flagyl almost 4 months ago for 7 days. I still have a terrible, sometimes salty, sometimes metallic taste in my mouth. Is this long term side effect at all normal? ## According the drug's side effect profile, a sharp, unpleasant metallic taste is not unusual. I've also heard that Peppermint candy seems to help, since it increases saliva production and masks the metallic taste. It probably won't make it go away, but should certainly make it more tolerable. Hi there, my problem is complicated. Im on 50mg elavil and 200mgs of gabapentin. Recently I have been experiencing burnt tongue or mouth syndrome. Dr wants to up gabapentin to 300 to treat tongue. We first took away 1 of elavil to help stop dry mouth situation. Now I'm also experiencing salty tast in mouth. This is miserable. I also have fibro and depression. Hence the use of these drugs. Have been undergoing chemo and Photon treatments for metastic Squamous cell carcinoma in my throat and lymph nodes on one side of my neck. After 4 weeks of treatments have problems swallowing, throat pain, dry mouth, water tastes salty and food has no flavor. I’m also getting ocular migraines and ringing in my ears after Photon Treatments. Food with no flavor I can deal with, but, water tasting salty is really frustrating. Any ideas out there as to what is causing what? ## Unfortunately, it is hard to even guess, since those are well known side effects of almost all cancer therapies. why it say do not lay down for 30 min after taking this med ## This is a Potassium supplement and the can be very irritating to the stomach and this may cause some reflux issues. If it does cause this reflux of stomach acid, it could cause damage to your esophagus, such a ulcerations. Are there any other questions? ## How can we use this potassium product without stomach or esophagus issues? ## As is usually stated in the instructions from your pharmacy, don't lay down for at least half an hour, after taking it, to prevent the acid from refluxing.
