I'm a 51 yr. old female who woke up on April 7, 2011, with an extremely salty taste in my mouth. When I tried to drink water to wash it out, it was like drinking salt gargle water. Nothing I eat or drink makes it go away. I can't stand to put anything in my mouth that is salty because the salt taste already in my mouth makes it almost unswallowable. Prior to that day, I have only 2 regular medications that I take daily: Lisinopril 40 mg( increased from 20 mg in mid November) for high BPas well as HCTZ 25 mg(been taking Lisinopril for 8 years) and 1mg of ropinorole(generic for Requip) for RLS (taking for almost 6 years). I also take black cohosh twice a day for hot flashes and night sweats(last menstrual cycle was Sept. 2010). On March 18, I started taking a 10 day prescription f...

Almost any medication can cause a change to your taste, according to FDA reports. You may also experience other side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. This one also carries the risk of being habit forming. What types of foods do you eat? Many processed foods, such as lunch meats, TV dinners and etc. do contain a lot of salt.

I have a cracked tongue, mostly in the front and have this salty taste in my mouth. When I eat foods it stings...the salty taste has been in my mouth for a few months. I do have post nasal drip and ear problems... What to do? ## If this has been going on for a month you need to consult your physician or go to the ER right away. Wishing you the best of health. Your mouth is the quickest area to heal. I would lay off of all foods with salt in them. ## The NIH warns that these symptoms could be signs of dehydration. Do you also have any dry skin, or dry lips? What color is your urine? How much fluid do you take in each day? I must agree with the other post, since it has been going on this long, you should really have this checked out by your doctor. I frequently get the salty taste, when I...
I have been taking Cmbalta for aout a year and have been experienceing a really bad, almost salty taste in my mouth for just about the same length of time. Has anyone out there had this same problem? My dentist says that there is nothing he can find, so I am hoping that someone can help me out. Please also let me know if you have experienced this same effect with other antidepressents. I take several and maybe it's one of those. HELP! I am just about at the end of my rope. Thanks to all, Paula ## Actually this is not really caused by the meds themselves, or any one in particular, it is caused by a very common side effect you experience from them. I was having a similar problem and thought it was a very odd side effect, then I started researching some info, and I discovered that the ...
I used flagyl almost 4 months ago for 7 days. I still have a terrible, sometimes salty, sometimes metallic taste in my mouth. Is this long term side effect at all normal? ## According the drug's side effect profile, a sharp, unpleasant metallic taste is not unusual. I've also heard that Peppermint candy seems to help, since it increases saliva production and masks the metallic taste. It probably won't make it go away, but should certainly make it more tolerable. I would also suggest trying peppermint essential oil if you need something a bit stronger. I hope this helps! ## I was on metronidazole for c diff 4years ago with an entirely inflamed colon. After having a round of antibiotics they thought I had c diff again and put on metronidazole again. I had the same symptoms yel...

That's not how they work. Targit-H contains the active ingredients Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide, it is most commonly used to help lower high blood pressure and treat certain cardiac conditions. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain and dehydration. You can learn more Targit-H details here. Are you making sure to take it with a full, 8 ounce glass of water or other liquid? If you are, then it shouldn't be making your mouth so sensitive like that. It can cause dry mouth, as a side effect, is that the problem that you're having?
