For chronic pain I was taking what I thought was a generic percocet which was a White Round Pill with TEC on one Side and a Line on the other side. About 3 per day. When recently I had my perscription refilled the pharmacist replaced these with a Smaller Round Pill with APO on one side and the number 5 above a line and below the number 325.They do not appear to be as effective but the pharmacist said that they were the same .Can any one explain why the change to these pills and why the difference in pain relief Thanks ## Its a cheap, generic form of percocet, perco is a registered orginal med. The smaller pill is canadian made and called oxycodocet. Its a bit stronger for pain and buzz than the TEC type, the TEC also has a cheap generic copy marked with 0386. TEC is by RatioPharm a canuc...

I am currently on 10 mg of methadone 16 times a day. I have to have something for my backpain but cannot deal with the side effects of methadone anymore. What would be a replacement drug that would be as effective? ## Hi Sara, Sorry to hear that your pain medication isn't working as well as you'd like it to. Some of these side effects can be pretty horrible, so I don't blame anyone for trying to find an alternative. A few suggestions I can give you for other prescription pain medications include: Demerol, Morphine, Vicodin (extended release), Percocet, Dilaudid, Opana, Oxycodone, and Fentanyl. Your doctor would have a better clue as to which one of these would best replace the drug you're currently on, but honestly, there's no way of telling ahead of time how you...

Does anyone know what a good replacement for vicodone since they took it off the market? My dr. put me on norco 7.5-325. These are a joke. I have to take 2-3 tabs when I was taking 1 tab.I am really screwed since I am allergic to codene, morphene, and most things that get me out of pain. I am on fentenal patch, but this replacement doesn;t make any sence. If I have to take 3 times the dosage I'm taking 3 times the acetaminophen. I was on percocet but now my insurance charges 3x the amount it used to cost, so thats not affordable. Any suggestions? Thanks ## Vicodin is still on the market, it an Norco actually contain the same active ingredients, Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen. Learn more Vicodin details here. All of these combination medications are being changed, however, to contain ...

I have been on Percocet 10/325 for over 11 years. Recently changed insurance company. They will not pay for Brand. I get horrible nausea and cramping and questionable results from generic . What are fillers in best generic replacements. It is the fillers my Drs. say I am allergic to. Not the fillers in Percocet brand ## It sounds like you may need to use a compound pharmacy then. I believe Walgreen's has some. ## Thanks for response. If Insurance wïll not pay for brand then I doubt they will pay for a special compound pharmacy . My pharmacy is a compounding pharmacy. the cost for me to pay for this on my own is totally cost prohibitive. ## Greg, If your Doctor writes medically necessary on your prescription, your insurance has to cover brand name by law. Please ask your Doctor ...

My Pain Mgt Dr. has been reducing my Percocet 10/325 mg pills down from 6/day to 3/day and my Kadian 20 mg pills down from 4/day to 3/day! I have been on this drug regimen for 7 yrs. due to a poor outcome from my last lumbar fusion surgery. I have heard that the DEA is requiring that all doctors must wean their patients down off of ALL opiate pain meds. Can you inform me of possibly any new developments in pain meds that would be accepted by the DEA??? Thanks so much. ## Hello, Doug! How are you? No, they don't have to take people off of all pain medications, however, they have been directed to limit how much is prescribed per day to any patient that does not have a possibly fatal illness, such as stage 4 cancer. It's been requested that no one else be given more than the equiva...

Had total hip replacement 5 days ago. Percocet 10/325 only last 4 hrs before the pain starts to increase. I've tried to stick it out to at least 5+ hours, but it is too painful. Should I take a Lortab between doses to help me get to 5-6 hrs? Or should I just go ahead and take another percocet? (every 4 hr). ## Talk your dr. You may need something stronger short term. ## @DJ, Because these medications tend to affect each person differently, I believe only you can truly answer that question depending on how your body has responded to them in previous doses. However, over an extended period of time I'd probably be more concerned about acetaminophen toxicity than anything else. Maybe you can ask your doctor if s/he can prescribe something without acetaminophen in order to allow for ...

I was issued 2 scripts from the same Dr. For 10mg/325 Oxycodone. Due to Surgery last week total Hip Replacement! I know I will have to pay out of pocket cause my insurance just filled at beginning of the month. He gave me 2 due to tolerance & going through PHYSICAL THERAPY 2 to 3 times a week! Why won't a pharmacy fill this for me if I am getting them from the same Dr? ## Just have the doctor contact the pharmacist and explain the need for the two prescriptions. ## The pharmacy already told me that NO PHARMACY WOULD BE ABLE TO FILL the rx unless it was for a different strength!!! This pharmacy is so strict I started filling there a few years ago due to having to go to so many different pharmacies and they didn't have any left! They are now making me wait 30 days rather than ...

Had disc replacement with fusing neck area, now have lower back pain from deteriorating disc and arthritis with sciatica issues. Dr. assumes it's for drug use. Sick of the looks I get. I am a 47yr old wife and mother of 2, who works full-time sitting in front of a computer all day long. Why do I have to suffer for those that get them to sell. I am so disgusted -have insurance and can't use it -please find me a doctor who will believe me and is not afraid to write what I know my body works well with! ## Well, what type of doctor are you seeing? Is it just a GP or a pain specialist? And, how are you going about getting treatment? These 2 questions both play a role in determining if you get the help you need. The first is because under the new laws, general practitioners and surgeo...

I was taking 2 Percocet/4hours for 5 days. I had a knee replacement. But yesterday I started to scale back and only taking 1/4hours. I have also started to become nauseous. Is that because I lowered my dose or because there is now a lot in my system? Also, can the 2 Percocet/ 4 hours taken for 5 days hurt my liver? ## Yes, that can be a withdrawal effect of lowering your dosage, according to FDA warnings. You may also experience dizziness, fever, chills, rebound pain, and diarrhea. Generally, it takes long term use of high amounts, but we are all different, so it is best to never exceed the dosing instructions. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? ## Than you. However I followed the ortho nurse instructions for changing the dose because my pain was out of control. I am doi...

My Dr, has me taking percocet every 4 hours it doens't help that much I have arthritis had 2 hip replacements but still have so much pain. I see my Dr. next week just wanted a second opinion. Thank you kindly. Jeanne ## This tablet contains 10mgs of Oxycodone and 325mgs of Acetaminophen and if you're taking them every 4 hours, then you are taking 60mgs of the Oxycodone and 1,950 of the Acetaminophen in a day, which isn't necessarily a dangerous dosage of either one. What you really have to watch for is the effects it has on you and if it seems to be too much for you. Monitor your side effects, which may include: nausea, dizziness, constipation and drowsiness and if they are very severe, then you'll know if this amount is too much for you to take. Are there any other ques...

round white 512 on one side nothing on other side ## The pill which you are describing is a generic Percocet. This is a narcotic pain reliever containing Acetaminophen 325 mg and Oxycodone HCl 5 mg, manufactured by Mallinckrodt. ## Can I use 1/4 pill at night of Percocet pill 5-325? It helps relieve most of pain from total knee replacement. Surgery was 7 mos. ago. Should I try an OTC pain reliever of some sort? Suggestion?

My mom had knee replacement surgery five days ago and is now home and managing her own medication. Her prescription directs her to take 2 percocet every 4-6 hours. She finds that taking two at a time makes her sick to her stomach. But she can't quite make it a full four hours if she takes just one. Is it safe for her to take one pill every 2-3 hours instead of the 2 pills every four hours? ## That should be fine, unless her doctor says otherwise, it really amounts to almost the same dosing, just staggering them. The area of concern would be if she was taking more than prescribed during any given time period. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Another i...

Best Pain Tablet That Replaces Synap Forte Could you please let me know what other tab is as good as synap - i need a hip replacement and it is the only tab that worked.Tramaset does not work at all ## What other options has your doctor suggested? I'm not sure what else is available for you in your area, have you tried any of the other narcotic/Acetaminophen combinations, such as Percocet, which contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone? There are several options in that class that you could talk to your doctor about trying. ## I have heard is coming back on the market this week ## A simple warning here...try your damnedest to stay off Percocet....it may work for a few weeks a month at best before its pain killing effects wear off as you become more used to the medication and besides, no...

Please tell me if there is an EXACT replacement for the Watson 392 generic for Percocet. I know Watson has purchased Actavis. I have been taking the Watson 392 for years and the substitute does not help me at all. I take in combination with Fentanyl. Are there other companies that make the "Watson 392" configuration under a different number and name??? I have contacted Actavis several times to see if they have an exact replacement and they have not replied to any of my e-mail. CVS has substituted a Actavis that is supposed to be the same and it isn't. It does not work for me. The number is A333. I"m sorry about the problem that you're having. Is there a chance that your doctor could refer you to a colleague, before he leaves? That might be the quickest and easiest way to find the help you need. Due to the new directives set forth by the DEA last year, most doctors are going to be reluctant to prescribe both medications and will refer you to specialists for treatment. I had surgery in May for disc replacement in C5 and C6 and was taking 10-325mg of Norco for pain, on October 12th I had a disc replaced in L5-S1 and my surgeon put me on 10-325mg of Percocet and Valium 10mg. I have been depressed at home and went to my primary care doctor who prescribed 7.5-500mg of Lortab, I was taking the other meds 2 every 4 hours for pain and have been dropped to 1 Lortab every 4-6 hours, this is not controlling my pain, my doctor feels I have been taking the Percocet for too long, 2 months, he also took me off my Valium 10mg and changed it to Klonopin 1mg, half to 1 pill twice a day, I have been in a lot of pain for a few days now since changing dosages and feel anxious and depressed, is this acceptable or should I go talk to my surgeon again and have my meds chang...

Hello everyone, I was addicted to percocet for about a yr, i have degenerative osteo arthritis, extremely painful, have had a total knee replacement and am due for another, along with 19 operation bandaid fixes (all knee related) I also work full time, take care of a massive home (cleaning daily) and my 3 kids and husband.. Ugh the percocet really allowed me to live again, no pain, full nights sleep. But I knew I was dependant and I had to give it up.. I have such an insane life schedule that I couldn't do cold turkey as I know what withdrawals are like and I can't take time off work... I started suboxone, the doctor has me on 10 mg.. Yes it was a miracle for about the first week, but I'm experiencing some crazy crap... Seriously vivid nightmares that I can fully remember, e...

I'm having surgery for knee replacement and this is the first time I've had surgery and general anaesthetic while on methadone. Can anyone advise me about the safety of this and how they will treat post-operative pain? ## I have had two surgerys while on methadone, you will be fine they gave me percocet for pain and it took the edge off which is what it should do, alot of people think they should be pain free after a surgrey while taking pain pills but that is not the case hope all goes well ## Hello. If you are on methadone maintenance for opiate addiction, you will need to tell the surgon so he/she knows how to treat your pain and your general sedation. Methadone won't help your post op pain, so he/she will have to prescribe another type of painkiller. One of the reasons i...
