Pantoprazole tablets show color change after about a year from manufacture. Color changes from yellow to light green. Is this normal? ## Yes, some change to the color and efficacy level of the medication is normal, when they start to age, due to exposure to heat and light. The efficacy change is why most pills you receive from your pharmacy have an expiration date of only a year, once they are dispense to you. They tend to degrade over time. The degradation is slowed, if they are left in the original factory sealed bottle, but once it has been opened, then that changes. Are there any other questions?

We were receiving the Pantoprazole 40mg EC tablets, yellow~oval~w434. The last refill we received the Pantoprazole 40mg DR tablets, white~oval~KU181. Could you please help us figuring out what the difference is?? Thank You ## Hello, Markayshai! How are you? I am having irregular periods due to which I am not able to conceive. doctor suggested me premarin tablet and panozen-DSR capsules.i want to know what is the use of these tablets in my case. plz help . ## The Premarin contains synthetic estrogens, but I have to say that it isn't likely to help regulate your cycle and enable you to get pregnant. Estrogen is usually what causes them to be irregular. If they are already irregular and you aren't ovulating, then you'd need some form of Progesterone to help. Are you certain your doctor said Premarin?

My sister was taking this and I am looking for information about this drug. What are the uses and possible side effects? ## I would also like to know the side effects of somac please. ## Well, it makes you feel very gassy. ## Somac is an international brand for Pantoprazole - The US brand of this is called Protonix. According to the NIH (DailyMed) it inhibits stomach acid secretion and treats GERD in the short term. Possible risks may include a reduced immune system / infection because stomach acid plays a role in killing bacteria. Side effects reported less than 5% of the time include flatulence, diarrhea, headache, and abdominal pain. If I'm not mistaken the brand Somac exists in Australia (and possibly other countries). I hope this helps!

I have been taking Pantop 40 for the last 4 months before taking anything else in the morning. I was ok and had no gastric problem. I purchased these tablets in India. Now I am in Australia. What is its substitute in Australia? ## The active ingredient is Pantoprazole, which is a proton pump inhibitor, so as long as your doctor approves, you can look for Pantroprazole, or a different PPI. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, stomach pain, and headache. Is there anything else I can help with?
