my son, aged 27 yrs has been diagnosed with gqwtric ulcerws. he has been pr3escribed ampoxillin 1000mg , claribid500 mg , protodac and pan40 (twice daily) for 14 days. after 10 days,he has been shoqing signs of improvement. should the medicines be continued for another week? will he require antibiotics also? after 14 days, he is still having pain , with less intensity. ## The Claribid contains Clarithromycin, so it and the Amoxicillin are antibiotics. Is Pantoprazole sod dr 40 mg the same drug as Nexium 40 mg? My husband was given Nexium samples by the doctor but was prescribed the Pantoprazole. Thank you ## Hi Barb, From what I could gather, they appear to be completely different drugs that are used for similar purposes. My guess is that the doctor wanted him to sample the Nexium to see if he responded better to one or the other. Nexium contains the active ingredient Esomeprazole & Pantoprazole happens to be the active ingredient in and of itself; but both are classified as proton pump inhibitors.
