I was prescribed Clarithromycin 14 x 500mg by my doctor at Christmas for a cold that seemed to be developing into a chest infection. I didn't want to be ill during Christmas so I got the prescription dispensed. In the event I didn't need to take it but the flu I now have has developed into a chest infection. Normally I am prescribed 250mg twice daily for 7 days. Could I take 500mg once per day for 7 days or should I cut the 500mg pill and take it as 250mg twice daily. I am concerned about compromising the efficiency of the treatment. Any advice? ## What are the instructions on the prescription? what does p eye mean? this is an antibiotic ## I have never seen that on a prescription before. Was it for some type of infection related to the eye? It's possible that it was just meant to refer to why you are supposed to take it, some doctors do that, when they write prescriptions. It is also possible that your doctor wrote something else and the pharmacy had trouble reading it and thought that's what it said. Which antibiotic are you taking?

I was prescribed 1 to 2 15 mg Oxicodone Amide every 6 hours. Is there a different type, maybe oxicodone hydrochloride that works better at same milligrams? ## There is a time release formulation of Oxycodone available, it is only available as the name brand Oxycontin and is taken ever 12 hours. The one manufactured by Amide is an instant release formulation, so it is meant to release all of the medication, as soon as you ingest them. There is also a regular release formulation that is available as a generic and under the name brand Roxicodone. Are there any other questions?

Hello, my husband is taking 5 Percocet 10/325 in 6 hours. I'm afraid it is going to kill him. He has abused them also. It worries me and he fusses with me when I confront him about it. Should I be concerned? ## Yes, you have a valid reason to be concerned. Not only is that a high amount of Oxycodone to take, but the Acetaminophen in them is an even bigger concern. The limit should be no more than 1,000mgs every 8 hours and no more than 3,000mgs in any 24 hour period, anything over that risks overdose toxicity, which may be fatal! It can cause liver damage, or failure, which could result in death, as reported by the NIH. If he is taking that many at once, he needs help and his doctor should be informed of the situation. How often does he take that many?

My mother is taking a medication: one tablet every 12 hrs with food. We were wondering what times are best: 8am & 8pm or 9am & 9pm? Ehat do you suggest? ## It depends on if she has to take them with food or after meals. It also depends on what other medications she is taking. Some medications can't be taken with others. It would be best to call her pharmacist and ask because they should have a list of all of the medications she is taking. ## With food can also mean with glass of milk or a cracker. Doesn't have to be a "meal.. Any 12 hr gap is fine. ## I have to take a pill every 12 hours, if I take it at 8 , what time do I take the next one.

My son takes 1/2 a tablet every 6 hours how much tylenol is he actually getting? ## If his tablets are 5/500's then a 1/2 tab is 250 of Tylenol and 2.5 of codeine. ## The active narcotic in this is Hydrocodone, so he'd be getting approximately 2.5mgs of it and approximately 250mgs of the Acetaminophen/Tylenol. And the reason I say approximately, is because when you cut, or break a pill, it is very hard to be precise, so the dosage could be a milligram, or two, one way or the other. Are there any other questions or comments?

Just had surgery for a hernia. I was prescribed Norco 5/325, take 2 every four hours. Can I take 1 every 2 hours so I don't get that "Narcotic" feeling? ## Hello, Scott! How are you? Yes, you should be able to do that, but you should double check with your doctor to be sure. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I have a prescription for Percocet that was filled 4/25/17. I have 90 pills. The directions are one every 8 hours. Is that a 30 day supply? I have a refill on file at the pharmacy that was hand carried at the same time this one was. Sometimes I need to take more than one every 8 hours. I have spinal/disc issues and a pinched nerve to boot. Just trying to figure out when it's okay to call for the next refill. I don't want to break any laws! I have to start this in the morning, is this a lot at once I have to do this 2x a day for a bad cough. ( I have had it for 3 weeks) Also should I take a lower mg closer to time to get off it or what. I had a procedure done and was given 1 vicodin I am on suboxone and i had stopped 2 days prior to the procedure. Well it is all done and it was 7 to 8 hours ago i took the vicodin. Can i take my suboxone now or do i need to wait? ## Hi, Ashley! What did you end up doing? In that case, I'm not really sure how long you would need to wait and your doctor would probably be the best person to advise you.
