Is sulfatiazol safe to use for pruritus - from kidney failure ## Based on my research, this is a cream or ointment sold in mexico used to treat infections of the skin and burns. It contains sulfur. It was once used fairly commonly, until other less toxic options were found. The toxicity of it is why it is no longer available in the U.S. However to further answer your question, I think it really depends on whether or not the Pruritus (Itching) is due to an infection and not just an allergic reaction to something else. If you can determine that it is in fact an infection, then yes, this medication may be used for such treatment. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Sulfathiazole Details I hope this helps!

We used to be able to get this for use with infections and cuts.Very effective. is it availa ble for purchase? ## From what I'm able to gather, Sulfathiazole Penicillin ointment is primarily sold in Mexico and seldom found in the U.S. Another user on this site mentioned that: "I found it possible to purchase it in any state of mexico at any pharmacy in the city. You will almost always find it at a pharmacy in tijuana. It is very common." Because it is not readily available in the U.S. I recommend searching online under various mexican-based drug stores, as that is probably your best bet, aside from actually going to Mexico to pick some up. I hope this helps! ## Could this use on if u have a Virginia iche

Every article of information I'm finding on the ophthalmic ointment points back to its veterinary applications, but nothing concerning human use. I live in San Antonio, Texas. Is this cream available in the States? And more importantly, is it safe? ## @ERQ, The combination of Betametasona [1] + Clotrimazol [2] + Gentamicina [3] is marketed towards treating various skin conditions such as pain, inflammation, itching, bacterial/fungal infections, etc. From what I've seen mentioned in another thread here, this cream is allegedly available with your doctor's prescription here in the US. However further reports suggest that it costs only a fraction of the price down in Mexico for the same ointment (i.e. $30 in the US and less than $2 in Mexico). Given this information, my suggestion would be to just get it prescribed in the US since the cost of driving to Mexico and back from Texas is probably a lot more than the difference yo...
