Been using silenor, 6 mg at bedtime for 7 nights and noticed daily increase in sinus problems, i.e. congestion, pressure, headache, runny nose, dry eyes. Anyone else notice this??? I had been using doxepin capsules, 25-50 mg for sleep without this kind of response prior to starting the Silenor, 6 mg tabs. ## They are the same medication, Doxepin, so it's doubtful that it's from the medication. Have you consulted your doctor, yet? It could be due to allergies, a sinus infection, or several other things.

My husband was waking up frequently in the night to go to the bathroom, and his urologist put him on Rapaflo. Within two weeks, he was having extended nose bleeds, and finally, during an especially bad bleed, he had a ruptured aneurysm inside his eyeball. He takes very little medication (1/2 of a Bystolic) every night and a baby aspirin. Of course, his doctor immediately discontinued the Rapaflo, but I'm interested as to whether anyone else has had this dramatic an event. He's never had any of these types of reaction before, not even nosebleeds in 80 years. ## This medication is commonly used to treat prostate issues that cause increased urination, but this is not listed among its side effects, according to FDA reports. They typically include nausea, dizziness, insomnia, and ort...

I've been on Xarelto for 8 months for a DVT. Have been having nosebleeds and now I have blood in my urine with back pain. Also have a cough that won't go away. Called my doctor and told him I want to get off it and he said OK, but I need to go in for a U/A and follow up with the doctor on Friday. ## Hello, Db! How are you? Yes, those types of issues can happen with any of the blood thinner/anticoagulant medications. You did the right thing by contacting your doctor immediately to stop taking it. The UA will be to double check for a UTI or other problem, to confirm whether or not it was solely due to the medication. The FDA lists the other typical side effects of Xarelto as possibly including nausea, dizziness and headache. Are you doing any better, yet?

I have been taking 1/2 of a 37.5 mg phentermine for about a month now. I have lost 10 lbs and am extremely excited about this. However today while at work my nose started dripping as if it was bleeding. However it was not warm like blood, it was cool just as if my nose was runny. The strange part was it was rust colored, it almost seemed like it was mixed with blood. It only dripped a few times and when I blew my nose there was only a small amount left in there but this happened twice today. Anyone have a similar experience? ## I would suggest contacting your doctor to have this checked out, since Phentermine has been known to cause some cardiovascular issues as side effects, such as rapid heart beat, pulmonary hypertension, elevated blood pressure, ischemic events, and cardiac failure....

Been on Linzess 145 for 2 months. Was having lots of allergy issues-hives and itching on scalp, runny nose, sinus pain, extreme fatigue. Also shortness of breath and heart palpitations. Hadn't had major allergy attack in months but thought that was what was going on. Steroids, inhaler, Benadryl no help. Started paying real close attention to symptoms and realized I never woke up with hives, they always appeared about half hour after Linzesse was taken and improved by end of the day. Stopped taking it and 48 hours later no hives, itching or sinus symptoms. Still dealing with fatigue. It did helps constipation problem although I came real close to more than one accident. Not worth the side effects. Has anyone else experienced any if these symptoms? ## Hello, Brenda! How are you? I...

I have been taking 4mg Perindopril for a year.I am 68 and do not have any other medical issues. Blood pressure now stable at approx. 125/65. However I have a horrid rash around my nose which is steadily getting worse and resists any cream. This has been ongoing now for4 months and is now heading towards my cheek. The other side effect has been a continual runny nose, and recently dizziness. I am thinking of stopping Perindopril to see if my rash clears up and to monitor my blood pressure to see what happens. Should I stop completely or halve the dose for a time? ## Hello, Peggy! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems that you're having. Suddenly stopping such a medication isn't safe, because it could cause dangerous rebound elevations to your blood pressure and heart rate...

can pause be pulverized for topical application for nosebleeds and gum bleeds ## No, it is intended to work via internal means, it contains Tranexamic Acid and Mefenamic Acid. Learn more Tranexamic Acid details here. Learn more Mefenamic Acid details here. There are topical products that can help, if the bleeding from such issues is severe. You might want to ask your doctor for more information on them. Are there regular issues that you have to deal with?

Want to buy Allegra but I found a Zyrtec printable coupon. What do you think of Zyrtec, I have recurring Sneezing and runny nose. ## It's really a matter of finding one that works best for you. They are both antihistamines used to treat allergies. Allegra contains Fexofenadine and along with treating respiratory issues, its generally also helps with skin allergies, such as hive. Zyrtec contains Cetirizine and it is usually only effective for the respiratory aspect. You can learn more and compare them at the following links: Have you consulted your doctor for a recommendation? ## I have taken both and zyrtec really causes more drowsyness. And buy the generic,it works the same and will save you a lot of money.

I have 3 stents (seven years) and a heart valve replacement (5 years) but have thin blood, which can cause nose bleeds and prolonged bleeding after cuts or injuries. So my cardiologist put me on Aspirin rather than Warfarin to help prevent blood clots/stroke. Since then I have had only a handful of minor heart issues (palpitations but no chest pain, heart attack or stroke). My cardiologist recently retired and my new specialist has insisted that I need to replace the Aspirin with a combination of Xarelto and Clopidogrel. I fear if i make this change I will have serious side effects, including serious nose bleeds (I once spent 3 days in hospital with a nose bleed). If I choose to stay on the Asprin will I be at serious risk of having a stroke? ## You could ask them to check your clotting...

I have taken Lactulose for many years, the last year at a higher dose because the HE/ liver issues have worsened. NO fun, but doable. My insurance won't cover Xifaxin because lactulose exists. I picked up the new Rx at CVS today, but was puzzled by the "Green Coloring" notice. Since I am allergic to so many things, i hesitated--it has ALWAYS BEEN COLORLESS--but tried it anyway. I got one tbs down and gagged so hard I had it come through my nose! Even their website says "clear." (My previous Rx have been "Generlac Lactulose"; I will let my Dr know to ONLY write for that brand.) I DUMPED THE REST OF THE QUALTEST down the drain.

Does this medicine go to the back of the throat? I put four drops in my ear and it burned my sinuses and the back of my throat. ## Hello, Gwen! How are you? Has there been any change? Are you on any other medications? No, medications placed in your ear should not cause such issues with your nose and throat. The FDA lists the typical side effects as normally being limited to the ear and possibly including topical redness, itching, a feeling of fullness, and drainage. Sometimes, something may hit a certain nerve in your ear and make you cough, but that is usually the extent of it.

Hello, My 13 yr. Old son has been complaining about sinus pressure, has a runny nose and his ears bother him. I have a bottle of liquid amoxicillin that he's had from a previous ear infection, 2016. It has an expiration of 2019. Is it safe for him? ## If that is the expiration date listed on the label, it should be fine, but it is always best to double check with your doctor or pharmacist, and you should never medicate a child, unless their doctor confirms the presence of some issues requiring a medication. The FDA lists the typical side effects of antibiotics as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash. How is he doing, now? Has there been any change?

I'm on metoprolol and digitek. I had a cold so I took ibuprofen and pseudoephedrine. Would this cause thinning of blood? My nose is bleeding and eyes appear very bloodshot. ## Ibuprofen is an NSAID and while it may cause bleeding and change the way your blood forms platelets it does not thin your blood. This is pretty much a characteristic of most NSAIDs. Aspirin is the most common NSAID known to actually think the blood. ## Ibuprofen has been known to cause hemorrhage, so yes, it can cause blood thinning, and other issues, according to FDA reports. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, and stomach irritation. How severe is the nosebleed? Are there the only medications you take? How much Ibuprofen did you take? Can you please post back with more specific detail...

When taking Eliquis as an alternative to Warfarin, I was bleeding from nose, kidneys and bowels with black stools and copious bleeding from a slight scratch. Also easy bruising with purple bruise marks. I have now stopped taking this medication and all bleeding stopped, but there is a lingering effect of purple bruising. Will I ever recover from this? Fortunately I have had no other major side effects but I shall never take this medication again. Far from preventing stroke from a blood clot, I believe that there is an increased chance of a stroke from bleeding in the brain I urge extreme caution about this medication. ## It has been known to cause these issues in some people that take it, according to NIH reports. Hello to anyone interested. I have been taking Xarelto for 3 months. 20mg once a day for DVT and P.E's post knee replacement. Started searching for possible effects of the drug and have found that many people seem to have similar side effects to mine. First surprise was sudden nose bleeds. Was warned that I may get a rash or itches, and I certainly do. Bruising for no apparent reason also and increased back pain (although to be fair I do have severe spinal issues) but probably the most annoying thing is very loud ringing in my ears (tinnitus), more so in one side. I'm pretty sure that we are not just imagining this stuff folks, and for those professionals that downplay the tinnitus, it is no joke! It is making life quite difficult. Head aches (some quite severe) are also a probl...
