No Period With Metronidazole

My period was due on 02/13/2016. I started taking metronidazole 500 mg tablets (2 per day for 5 days) and my period did not come. Is something wrong with me? ## Hello, Jane! How are you? Actually, it's very common for antibiotics to cause a longer cycle in some women that take them, so you may not start for a few more days, or until after you finish your course of treatment. If you don't start, at all, within a few days of finishing them, then you should consult your doctor. The FDA lists the other possible effects of antibiotics as typically including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Oh and yes, I have personal experience with this, I usually start around day 27 of my cycle, but that last time I took antibiotics, I didn't start until day 32....

I am 5 days late on period. Took a pregnancy test yesterday came up negative. I was on metro pill 500mg twice day for a week. Was suppose to get my period about 4/5 aftwr taking last of medicine. I had to take a diflucan too cause the meds give me a yeast infection. Could the metro pills possibly be making me late? Did i take a preg test too early? It was an EPT test. I recently went to the clinic for a check up and I was diagnosed with BV. The doctor prescribed me Metronidazole to take for a week. I finished taking them and I was due for my period 2 days ago and I still haven't started. I'm not sure if it is the cause of the antibiotics or if I'm pregnant. Hi i gave birth jan 2 2016. Diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis last april.and given metronidazole for 7 days. And now i haven't had my period. Its i think 2 days late. ## This is an antibiotic and they are well known to cause late periods, according to NIH and U.S. FDA reports. Well I had my period on the 10th of the month and I've been taking this medicine. The doctor says I'm suppose to take it for 7 days. My last day is tomorrow. I started spotting a little and it was light pink. I started taking metronidazole 500mg tablets on 9/26 three times daily for 10 days and take progesterone only BC DAILY. I had intercourse on 10/1 and went right home taking my pill. I was to start my period somewhere between Thursday and Saturday (I'm irregular) and have not started yet, should I be worried? ## I didn't find any problems, or interactions listed, it is usually the level of estrogen that some antibiotics can alter that reduces the efficacy of some oral contraceptives, according to the NIH. If you're concerned about pregnancy, there is never any harm in checking, but if you're irregular anyway, there is likely nothing to worry about. Have you started, yet?

I was diagnosed of having BV and my OB prescribed Flagyl to take for 7 days. I had my period last July 13-18 and started the medicine at 07/21/17 until 07/28/17. I went to the hospital and was given metronidazole to take twice a day for 7 days. During this time i started to take them my period was suppose to come 4 days later but when that day came i had no period. I just wanna know is it possible this antibiotic is causing me not to have a period? I had to take plan b in early November, and ended up having two periods a week apart from each other. 11/14-11/18 and 11/24-11/28. That was my last period. I ended up being prescribed metronidazole for BV which I think started from the two periods jacking up my PH.. I took 2 pills a day for 7 days and this was early December. It's January 3rd and I'm now 12 days late for my period. I'm having symptoms but can't tell them apart from PMS, side effects, or pregnancy symptoms.. they include: Sore breasts/nipples, fatigue, on and off slight cramping for a week or so now, hot flashes, more creamy white discharge, occasional headaches, and moodiness. On 29/07/2016 I had my period which lasted for about seven days, after few days I started seeing watery blood again which I complained to the doctor and was diagnosed with an infection. This is used to treat vaginal yeast / fungal infections. Speaking from my wife's experience, she was on a treatment of Monistat 7 (Miconazole) during her menstrual cycle before, and she said that instead of taking the regular 7 day course, she had to take it for 10 days to help. I'd double check with your doctor to ensure that it is okay for you to do, but I just wanted to share what my wife said worked for her. I hope this helps.

Have been experiencing abdominal pains which are usually happening when im expecting my periods, i went to the clinic and a UA was done. I was told that my urine has some infection, i was given IV, doxytet and bio-metronidazole to take twice a day for 14days.
