My doctor put me on Diflucan for a toe nail fungus.Has anyone ever heard of this before? I've already had all ten toe nails cut out three times and I can't face that again or having the nails removed.My nails are hard and curl into my toes. ## Hi Missy, Based on my research, Diflucan (Fluconazole) is primarily used to treat Vaginal yeast infections and has been approved by the FDA for that purpose. However, it is sometime prescribed as a toe nail fungus medicine when the toe nail fungus is a mild case, or if the toe nail fungus infection looks to be yeast generated. The day after I started taking Griseofulvin for fungal infection of the nails, I had a sore throat and thick green phlegm in the morning. 8 days later I still have a sore throat on and off, mainly in the morning, sometimes in the evening and green phlegm in the morning. Is this coincidence? I did wonder if it was the effect of an anti-fungicide on a low level fungal infection in the lungs and or nasal passages, (i.e. killing off some fungal infection and the phlegm being dead cells, etc). What would happen if candid b cream is accidentally ingested? ## Candid B is a local "skin application" that consists of Clotrimazole and betamethasone; it is effective for localized fungal infections such as Ring worm. I don't think ingesting the cream is a very good idea to say the least and may even cause more harm than good since it is not an oral medication. Keep in mind that Candid B is not effective in widespread fungal infections. For wide spread fungal infections one would need to take "oral" anti-fungal treatments. In addition, it is not very effective in fungal infection of the nails. As far as side effects go, Clotrimazole and Betamethasone can cause skin irritation.
