I was wondering if you guys know how much Micardis 40 alone lowers your bloodpressure from baseline? ## Hi SHERRIE, Since medications effect everyone differently, it will be hard to know exactly how Micardis 40 will work for you. Here is a link to a Micardis 40 thread that you can post in, maybe someone who has had experience with this medication will be of more help. Discuss/Micardis-40-mg-194179.htm Have you attempted to make any changes to your diet/lifestyle for the sake of your blood pressure? My boyfriend dealt with high blood pressure for years but was able to lower it by controlling his eating habits and exercising. He started to eat a diet with lower sodium foods (replaced table salt with pink himalayan sea salt) to help reduce inflammation and water retention and added in a he...

I would like to know how people are reacting to name brand Micardis 40 mg? I just started and am not sure if the side effects will get better over time. I.e., worse back pain (already have chronic back pain but seems to be worse since starting this), worse anxiety and depression, headache, stomach upset, general aches and pains in joints. I was on 80 mg of Lisinopril for 10 years ~ yes, 10 years! I had no problems with side effects or at least I thought I didn’t, but after being on it about 7 years I started to get bouts of severe gastritis which I blamed on too many steroid shots and also tinnitus. I had no idea that BP pills could cause so many long term side effects. I had to get off them when my pharmacy switched to Solco brand and they were terrible! Instant headache and seve...

I take Micardis 40gm twice a day for many years, upon drop down blood pressure and doctor recommendation I reduce to one tablet and then to just one half tablet and then I stopped Mircardis completely after my reading become lowest 107/66. About 5 months no Micardis and BP is normaly, suddenly my reading increased and become 172/115, I suspect I eat too much salt from drinking bottled water I use in my home. Then I took Micardis again one tablet and then reduce to one half for about one month and then stopped, after 12 days of stopping my reading increased slowly for five days and yesterday become 172/105, now I have some headache in both left brain and eye. Yesterday and today I toke half tablet of Micarids and reading look noraml today. The reason I want to stopped Micardis because of...

Hi there, I have been on Micardis 40 mg for 5 weeks & for at least 18 days I've been suffering from lower back pain. Has anyone suffered from this. I had been on Trandate for c.7 years due to pregnancy & breastfeeding but was originally on Micardis for c10 years with no side effects. I'm finding this back pain so debilitating. I'm going back to my gp on Monday but also have a physio appointment in case it's just a coincidence. Thanks ## It can be a side effect of this medication and I have experienced it myself from several blood pressure/cardiac medications. In all cases, I had to see my cardiologist and switch medications. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. Is there an...

Hi, I have been on Co-Micardis 40/12,5 for 5 years now and bp is steady at 110/70. Recently moved to Saudi Arabia and today the Dr put me on Micardis 80 Plus, I think because of the language barrier as my bp tested normal. Can I take 1/2 tablet daily? ## Hello, Herb! How are you? They are listed as containing the same ingredients, Telmisartan and Hydrochlorotiazide, so you may want to take just half of a tablet, as long as your doctor approves. The language barrier might have caused some misunderstandings. The U.S. FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?

My mother has a very low morning blood pressure 90-100/55-60. During the day and up to the afternoon her blood pressure raises to 150/90. She was prescribed Micardis HCT 40 mg. We are very concerned to give her this medication when her blood pressure is low as 100/60. Should we wait for the blood pressure to raise to over 120 and then to give a medication. Or the medication should be taken in the morning regardless on the morninf blood pressure. ## Hi, Olya! Is she feeling dizzy or nauseous in the morning? What has her doctor said about it? Normally, if someone isn't having any symptoms from it the 100/60 is nothing to worry about, it's not a dangerously low reading and it is normal for someone's blood pressure to be low, when they first wake up and start moving around for t...

I had been on Micardis 40 plus for several years and then put on Micardis 80+ for around 2yrs; started to have lots of issues with bp being all over the place and dizzy, tired etc. face flushed, full feeling at any sign of stress. My doctor has put me on the lowest dose of Coveram 5/5 and I am wondering what I can expect initially as Micardis was a different type of blood pressure medication? Many thanks. ## Hello, Sue! How are you? I'm happy to help you! As listed by the NIH, you may experience some rebound blood pressure and heart rate elevations, though they shouldn't hit dangerous levels, since you have replaced it with another medication. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, dry cough, increased urination and hypotension. ...

I'm taking Lipanthyl 145 once every day for sometime with Micardis 40mg once a day, then I reduce to one tablet every other day for two months in process to stop Lypanthyl gradually. Once I stop it after three days I get like Angina symptoms and hard to breath and the symptoms was horrible, I checked Triglyceride through Prima and I found my reading jumped to 3.7mmoI/L (with medication once every other day was between 1.8-2.1 mmoI/L). I learned this medication should not stopped suddenly but gradually like Blood pressure medications. My question how I can stop Triglyceride medication? And is these symptoms I get because of stopping Lypanthyl? And thank you for answer. ## Hello, Neion! How are you? What are you stopping it? Has your doctor approved of your doing so? Age 88 female with pacemaker, has bp of 130 /50... Is low diastolic a problem?? Meds are 40 mg Micardis and twice a day of 5 mg Plendil. Has sciatic nerve problem. Taking .5 mg of clonazepam nightly to sleep. ## It really depends on whether or not it is causing you any symptoms, according to the NIH, such as dizziness, headache, or fainting. Are you experiencing any such symptoms? I also take blood pressure medications and my cardiologist told me that there was no need to worry, unless you are experiencing such problematic symptoms.
