I am on 1500 mg of metformin and started getting diarrhea every other day. I have a large oblong white pill that has a line In the center of it and has the numbers 1p220 on one side and 10 00 on the other side what is it. I think the metformin HCL 1000 mg ER is too much for me. It made me sick to the point i couldnt function. So i started taking half the dosage. 500 mg per day. Does the metal taste ever go away? I have been taking 1000mg 2x a day with meals since Feb. 3. Water taste terrible and most foods have a different taste. I have been taking normal metformin (1000mg per day) since April 2014. It had a strong GI effect on me (10 bathroom trips between bathroom and lunchtime), and truthfully, there were times I couldn't take it at all if I wanted to be able to leave my home due to those side effects. My doctor felt that although metformin commonly has gastro side effects, mine were on the extreme side. He switched me to 1000mg of metformin ER to see if that would help things. It did, however two days after taking the ER, my left leg broke out in hives. Only the left leg, on the front shin area. My doctor switched me back to the regular metformin (but only 500mg at night) to see if it was maybe an additive in the ER version that I might be allergic to. My husband and I are both on Metformin but he takes the Er 500 and I take the Hcl Er 500? He still works and exercises but I'm retired on disability and unable to exercise much because of post polio problems. Does that make a difference in what we take?
