I have been diagnosed with enterococcus infection in my urine. After doing sensitivity evaluations, nitrofurantoin was advised to me by the doctor. In addition I was prescribed alkasol. When I went to buy alkasol, the chemist gave me K-2 whose composition is potassium citrate and magnesium citrate. He told me that k2 is the same as alkasol. Is it true? Can I take k2 instead of alkasol?

I take 90 to 120 mgs of morphine daily for pain control (30mg tablets). I have maintained this dose consistently (2+ Years). I've taken magnesium citrate as a laxative in the past-10 oz per dose (1.75 per fl oz) as needed. It usually does the job. Brand name is Citroma by Swan. Is a continued weekly or biweekly use of this product recommended? I would like to eliminate or reduce usage of other laxatives. ## Hello, Jerry! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. Actually, there are specific warnings that state magnesium citrate is not safe for chronic, or long-term use. It's typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include gas, diarrhea, stomach cramps and bloating. If you need something for long-term use, it would be best to discuss it with...

I see lots of people here who need a cheaper alternative to Suprep. The Mayo Clinic recommends 8 Bisacodyl(Ducolax) tablets and 2 bottles of Magnesium Citrate split over 2 doses. This is just as good as Suprep and produces the same result. Many other clinics have similar recommendations. Do an internet search for "Ducolax and Magnesium Citrate bowel prep instructions". In my opinion, Suprep is just a convenience. The end result for either method is the same. You take laxatives and drink clear fluids until nothing comes out but clear fluids. It's not rocket science. ## Thank you for providing this information, William! I am sure that it will help many. But, before anyone follows these instructions, please check with your doctor and make sure that it is safe for you to do so. ...

wow I cant believe my eyes!!! I have ulcerative colitis I was diagnosed with 21 yrs ago. Every 2 years my dr checks me for cancer which means I have at least 10 colonoscopy's....each time I was advised to take magnesium citrate (2 bottles any flavor) and dulcolax tabs 4 in the am, etc, along with clear liquids, popsicles, jello, whatever... Anyway I have never spent more than $15 including the "snacks". I'm not a dr so maybe there's a reason to prescribe this $$$ kit but I would strongly advise asking your dr for a less expensive option. ## Hello, Mika! How are you? Thank you for posting this great advice for others. It is a sad, but true fact that many doctors prescribe the "latest and greatest", without considering the expense to the patient. I took norco for a week because I had surgery and I found that I didn't have any bowel movements and then I found that I was constipated so I stopped taking them. The last time I took one was at 8:30 in the morning yesterday 1-10-17 and I drank a bottle of magnesium citrate, a little bit of prune juice, I took stool softeners, and an enema and nothing worked until this morning 1-11-17. I haven't ate because I feel nausea. I have been drinking lots of water and some Gatorade now and all I have been doing is laying in bed because I feel weak and sick. When will I be back to normal? Will I be constipated again? ## I had the same problem. I would drink glasses of prune juice...still no bowel movement. Buy some Flaxseed oil. It is a natural laxative. I'm on cortef and loosing my hair!! Help! ## I increased my B12 (1000 mcg sublingual) and vita D drips to 8 drops (1000mg) daily. These are the only two vitamins that are supposed to be made by your body, but you will not be getting enough if you are sick or taking prescription drugs. I took magnesium and calcium citrate before bed in water, and increased avocados, whole grains, bull fat balkan yogurt, eggs, fish oil, raw nuts and raw greens daily. My hair stopped falling out and actually thickened and is stronger and shinier. I drink lots of roibois and green teas now. I hope this will work for you. My arthritis pain also seems to be gone. If it is too hard to eat all those vegetables, make soup with them with herbs and spices in a broth base. Purree them once softened enough and s...
