I just received a new Losartin K refill. The pill is round pink with sz 214 Identifer marking. Is this a generic? ## Losartan is a generic to begin with, the name brand would be Cozaar. And yes, the tablet you received contains 100mgs of Losartan. Is there anything else I can help with?

I've been on a low dose of Losartan everyday and feel fatigued. How long before it goes away after stopping treatment? ## I too was having alot of side effects. The biggest ones were anxiety, neck and back pain, leg cramps especially at night, dry mouth, bad cough, felt tired all the time, dizziness when I got up, shortness of breath, felt foggy, like I wasn't really here, like in a bad dream and lastly I was getting really depressed! Well I cold turkey quit it (losartan 100 mgs a day for 6 months). I couldnt take it anymore. I didnt experience anything bad from stopping it cold turkey. I am on blood pressure medication (Losartan) and I want to take a Tylenol for a headache. Can I take it? ## According to the University of Maryland Medical Center (umm.edu / drug interaction tool), there are no interactions listed between Losartan and Tylenol (Acetaminophen). This does not necessarily mean that no interactions exist. However, I haven't found any reason why it wouldn't be safe to take together in my own investigation. If in doubt still, I would encourage you to contact your doctor or pharmacist just to be on the safe side. My insurance company insisted that I change from Avalide 150mg/HCT 12.5mg to Lorsartan 50mg/HCT 12.5mg. Are the dosages equivilant? ## Yes, that is the equivalent dosage. Avalide contains Irbesartan with the Hydrochlorothiazide and the Losartan is actually a stronger medication, so it only takes 50mgso f it to equal the 150mgs of the Irbesartan. Yes, Losartan can cause it as a side effect in some people that take it, I take its relative Candesartan and experienced it for awhile, too… however, yes, it did eventually go away and all is fine now. Hello. My son is on 50mg Losartan for prevention of aortic root growth due to Marfan syndrome. After about six months of taking it, he started to experience episodes of feeling “funny.” This included brief nausea/drop in the pit of his stomach, dizziness, and a feeling like he didn’t want to move his arms and legs. In the recent past, this has progressed into what appear to be petit mal or absence seizures—brief periods of staring blankly and not responding. He still reports that sudden drop in the pit of his stomach preceding an episode and then a feeling of not wanting to move arms and legs. Just started on Losartan , previously was on lisinopril that didnt do anything to lower BP. After 3 days on Losartan I noticed my resting heart rate in now 100+… previously was 65 to 70 on any given day.. I was told it could take 2 to 3 weeks for Losartan to fully be in my system to see a change. Will my heart rate get lower once the med takes effect or is something wrong? ## Hello, Dom! How are you? I would like to know about any reports of psychosis precipitated by Losartan. ## Why is this medication typically prescribed? ## Losartan is used mainly in the treatment of Hypertension. Some common side effects of these types of medications can include: nausea, headache and dizziness. I can't find any information in regards to this medication causing psychosis, though it could simply be a bad reaction to the medication, in which case a person should consult with their doctor immediately.

I have been taking losartan for a few months and have hoarseness and feel the need to clear my throat intermittently. It’s not everyday but feels like it’s getting worse. ## I have been given losartan combo with HTZ for several years for Blood Pressure. At age 70 voice was suddenly barely there. At 72 I see no hope of regaining voice. Run to a good ENT DOCTOR who will look at your throat and vocal chords. Determine soon reason for throat issue. I expressed to my physician that I am experiencing weight gain with Losartan, however she doesn't believe me. I was originally taking Lisinopril but experienced tremendous hair loss. Since the past year, I have gained much of the 40 pounds back that I had previously loss. Furthermore, my blood pressure was more controlled with the ACE Inhibitor. Please help. Thanks to your web site, I was able to identify the white round one with 572 is in fact Losartan 25mg.
