does this pill require a prescription? ## Based on the description provided, I found your pill to be Ibuprofen (800 mg). Low doses of ibuprofen (200 mg, and sometimes 400 mg) are available over the counter (OTC) in most countries. Generally, the oral dose is 200 to 400 mg (510 mg/kg in children) every 46 hours, adding up to a usual daily dose of 800 to 1,200 mg. 1,200 mg is considered the maximum daily dose for over-the-counter use, though under medical direction, the maximum amount of ibuprofen for adults is 800 milligrams per dose or 3200 mg per day (4 maximum doses). trying to identify a pill found at my house left by my daughter's boyfriend. white oblong pill with a 599 code and G6 stamped on it ## I was not able to find an exact match based on your description. The closest thing I could find was a grey oblong pill with 599 preceded by a fancy looking R in front if the number. Click on the link below to see a picture of the pill... If the picture matches the pill which you found, then it is Etodolac 400mg. If it is not a match, then the pill is either from outside the USA, an over the counter drug, or an illegal drug. Hopefully it's not the last possibility. Do you have any more questions or information to add? Please post back if you do... ## Thanks for the reply...it is not the pill in the photo link...it looks similar to the RX Ibuprophe...
