100+ Topics FoundHas anyone ever reported the drug being less efficient or to cause illness after being taken several years? ## Being less effective after a long period of time on the same dosage is common with all drugs. As your body adjusts to that dosage, you continue to need higher dosages to get the same effects.
I have looked extensively for info with my situation but haven't found much. when I was 15 I started doing pills, and it resulted in 5 yrs of heavy addiction to xanax, up to the point of doing about 30 mg per day and drinking in excess. Throughout the 5 years I also did other pharms: Hydrocodone (only a couple times, wasn't a fan) Amitriptilene and Nortriptilene (for about 6 months with Xanax) Rohypnol (for about 6 months with Xanax) Marijuana (entire time with Xanax, and still smoking to this day) I have been clean now for 4 1/2 years (with the exception of occasional marijuana use) and thought my brain would be more recovered by now but its not. My short term memory is still horrible (it has barely improved), I still have serious sleep problems, anxiety, apathy, and general co...
I was on this drug and taking it regularly for way too long. Where or does anyone know the long term effects are for this drug? Will my brain be permanently damaged? Anything I should be worring about? ## Hi, Britianyann! How are you doing? The brain issue with using an opiate for a long period of time isn't the type of damage that most people typically think of, as in having trouble with your cognition and intelligence levels. What it really causes is a problem with the brain chemicals, such as Serotonin, which is the happy chemical that helps create good moods and a more even temperament. When it gets out of flux, you may experience more anxiety and depression than you used to, because it can be hard for your body to be able to balance things back out. It may eventually rectify it...
Would like to hear from people who take Levatol for a long period of time ## Hello, June! How are you? The FDA classifies Levatol as a beta blocker and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. Long-term use affects may include kidney stones, gout, weight gain and liver damage, but they are all very rare. How long have you been taking it?
I have been on rivaroxaban for a year now. Was told that I have to take it for life due to extent of dvt in my left leg. I have had no side effects at all. Until the last few weeks where I have had a lot of nausea and headaches. I feel like it is unrelated to the meds . My wife thinks it is. I am now wondering if it is the meds causing g it. I just find it weird for side affects to take a year to manifest. ## Hello, Scott! How are you? Those can be side effects of this medication, along with dizziness, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. Our bodies do change with time, so it's always possible to suddenly start experiencing side effects, though it's not that common. However, it would be best to check with your doctor to be sure. Is there anything else I can help with?
Have been using cardizem for 7 years and would like to know if there are any long term side effects...I seem to be having some trouble cognitively and my great aunt who was on it ended up with dementia...was curious if there was any correlation between the brain and the drug. Also the buildup of fluid has been extensive even with watching the salt intake. Also taking daily ranexa, eliquis, lasix, spirivia, albuterol. Thank you for any input. ## Since you're on several medications, it's hard to attribute your symptoms to any particular one with certainty. What types of cognitive issues are you having? As to the fluid build up, is the Lasix not helping with it? The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, increased urination ...

Esperide anti-depressant drug - long time use: I have been on esperide for at least 4 years continuously, varying between 2 - 4 capsules a day. The effects were quite significant - i was always tired, even after sleeping for 8 - 12 hrs; i was always grumpy; i forget many things; long & short term, i stopped having my period after 2 yrs & didn't have them for 3 yrs. It felt like i was comotosed; had no interest in things i previously loved, like sit coms & comedy, etc. I had no more energy and was freezing cold in the summer; i was not interested in intimacy. then checked with my gynea why certain hormone levels were extremely high. In the last 2 months I changed to a new anti-depressant - I'm now a new person, periods have come back, laughing again, remembering again...
My daughter father has been on methadone for about six years. Him and I have a good relationship but we are no longer together. Anyways I am wondering what the long term health effects of methadone? I would like to know what the future has to bring for my daughter. ## Well, according to research done and released by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), Methadone has been found to have few adverse biological effects with either long or short term use. Adult patients have been studied using it for continuous periods of up to 14 years. The main issues that are caused by it are just due to the regular side effects, such as nausea, drowsiness and constipation. It can also be habit forming itself, so few people ever stop taking it, they usually end up requiring a lifelong maintenance ...
I would some like some input on the effects of taking suboxone or subutex long term. ## Suboxone and Subutex are opiates, so the effects of long-term use are similar to those of any other narcotic. Some of the most common side effects include: drowsiness, nausea, dry mouth and constipation. ## I've been on suboxone for almost a year now. The side effects of long term use is the same as if you were on pain meds. ## i want to know what effects does suboxone have on a pregant woman? Does the baby become depeant? Is it like the methadone withdrawl for the baby? ## The baby does become dependant. After birth, a baby will detox from it. Your best bet is to wean yourself off before giving birth.

But are there any long term ones? What would it do to my liver if I use it for years... ## Hi everyone, I don't want to remove my gallbladder unlike the doctors suggest. I have multiple small gallstones. I searched and found about Ursodiol. What are the long term effects of it? I read the side effects. But are there any long term ones? My dad has been on the drug for a approx. 2 years and now he is having difficulty walking at times and leans to one side. we were told af first it was Parkinsons but after a neurologist examined him and found that he is taking neurontin, we were told that long time use of this drug can mimick the same side effects as Parkinsons disease. ## I also would like to know the long time side effects? ## IT KILLS Please go to www.adrugrecall.com and www.newstarget.com and the Chemical Warfare on Humans story, wwwTruthPublishing.com. taking paragoric as a child for many years , 1 or 2 T each day, whenever my mom felt I needed. Now I have colitis, severe headaches. stomach problems, constipation and overall have never felt in good health. ## this site is not medical professionals, so we can't possibly say for certain that any medication caused these problems, though it is possible, many do have detrimental effects with long-term usage. Have you spoken to a doctor? It is also very important to rule out other things, such as other health conditions, that may be causing these issues.
For the last 2 1/2 years, I've been receiving venofer infusions (series of 10 every other day) approximately every 3 months due to extreme iron deficiency anemia with no cause identified. I finished a round of 11 infusions 12 days ago, when my ferritin counts weren't that low at 25, nor was my hemoglobin at 10.0. I'm a teacher and my hemotologist said she wanted to build me up over the summer. Three days ago, I started having very black stools, nausea, weakness and fatigue, and total loss of appetite. Is this iron overload or is there something else going on? Has anyone experienced this? I can't find any information about the long term effects of using venofer. ## I was severley anemic too and was hospitalized, Instead of giving me infusions, they gave me blood transfusi...
## I started taking 15 mg of Mirtazapine a month ago and for anxiety, feelings of fear and worry and depression. I’m still feeling some worry and fear. I’m having some bad dreams and very over anxious. I’m having headaches and constipation. These dreams are the worst. Do these side effects get less powerful over time? ## Many people on Mirtazapine report a worsening of their symptoms of anxiety and depression in the early weeks of starting Mirtazapine (same as many other anti-depressants). It can take several weeks for the drug to begin working and then symptoms improve. Mirtazapine usually works faster than newer SSRI anti-depressants (many people report improvements between 2-5 weeks). However some people may need their dosage adjusting to get the full benefit. Docto...
I had Harvoni treatment last spring. I am not the same. My nervous system is a wreck. My anxiety problems have increased, depression and lack of motivation. My eyes changed drastically. My thoughts are not focused, I am nervous all the time, can focus or sleep. I had a 2 month migraine. Ringing in the ears is intense. I also was on pigalated interferon and ribivirn, I was pulled off mid treatment because I got so sick. After that treatment, I also had long term side effects. There isn't any back support for post harvoni people, nor are their anyone specializing in the after effect of long term HCV infection, it is NOT just a liver disease, it effects the nervous system and all else. I am at a loss for support with the doctors in my area, none seem to want to do any research and they...
I have been using co aleva for about three years. I take only one tablet every 3 days for I found this dosage sufficient in controlling my recurring rhinitis. Are there foreseeable side effects in this practice in the long run? Thank you and God bless. ## Thank you for taking up my question. I live in the Philippines. As mentioned, the dosage (one tablet every 3 days) that I use for three years seems satisfactory to control my rhinitis. My only worry is whether it can have a side effect in the long term. Thanks and God bless. ## I know a person who took co aleva for a year and now he has the cushing's syndrome. His fault was he just bought it over the counter without consulting a doctor for its extended use. I'm also from the Philippines.
I take codeine 5mg for pain due to a pinched nerve. If I take 7/day I am pretty much pain controlled and can go about my day. My Dr. wants me go decrease that to 4/day, but even at 6/day my pain level is about 3. What would be the potential long term effects of 7/day? ## According to FDA warnings, it can carry the risk of being habit forming, and it may cause liver damage, or failure, as well as kidney damage, or failure. Are you taking straight Codeine, or is it coupled with Acetaminophen? What is your prescribed dosage? Are you on any other medications?
I had a stem cell transplant almost 4 years ago. I have been on bactrim, diflucan, tacrolimus and valtrex for 4 years. I am having pain in my upper arm, thoracic spine and cervical spine. It's muscle/tendon issues not bone. Does anyone have any info on bactrim causing these symptoms or any of my other drugs? ## Yes, this medication can cause that in some people as a side effect, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?
My doctor just prescribed me Tramadol for a chronic back pain issue. If I take this med every night, will there be any long term negative effects after a year or two? One more question: what percentage of people who take Tramadol experience the euphoria that can be a side effect of other opiates? ## Hello, Jackson! How are you? There can be risks associated with the long-term use of any medication. The FDA does classify Tramadol as an opiate, so they do warn that it has a risk of being habit forming. With long-term use, it could also cause liver damage, but that's very rare. Other typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and constipation. It's listed that the euphoria was reported by between 1% and 10% of people. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I...
