I would like to know the after-effects of Livogen captabs, manufactured by Merck labs ## Livogen is a nutritional supplement that contains Ferrous Fumarate (Iron) and Folic Acid. Thus, it hasn't really been tested for side effects, as is done with actual prescription drugs, but the iron has been known to cause constipation and dark stool in some people that take it. I have taken a SGPT test. Which shows a value of 70 that is to much higher then general range of 0-40.The person in lab suggested that i should use livogen syrup... My iron levels are 4.2. I want to know at what dosage should Livogen-Z be taken? How long (duration) before the level of iron is reached as required by the human body? ## Livogen-Z contains 152mgs of Ferrous Fumarate, 750mgs of Folic Acid and 61.8mgs of Zinc, it is normally prescribed to be taken once daily. However, what has your doctor instructed? It may vary depending on the severity of the deficiency. My RBC count is 3.88 millions / c.mm and Haemoglobin is 11.4gm/dl Doctor said I have Iron deficiency and prescribed me 1 cap / day of ALFE which contains Carbonyl Iron eq to Iron Zinc Sulphate. Since this is not available Our Pharmacist gave me Livogen Z saying it is similar composition and is a Iron tablet to improve my RBC. I've been taking livogen tablets for 45 days due to severe stomachaches during my periods, but have recently been facing a problem of constipation and pain during discharge.. (no bleeding), just black stool... Kindly help me out... I haven't had this constipation problem in the past... Is this because of livogen? i heard that having iron tablets helps to reduce the hair fall and to improve the growth of new hair. But i don't know how many tablets have to eat in a day.
