I took mobic for back pain due to herniated disc and it worked great. I was able to move and work. It also helped the psoriatic arthritis that I had. It enabled me to move my fingers. The only problem is my liver function tests elevated so Now I have to stop it. I wish they could make a medication with the benefits, but without all of the risk of side effects. ## Unfortunately, that's not likely to ever happen, because such is the very nature and risks associated with adding a chemical to the human body to try to achieve some desired result. Our bodies react to everything, even the addition of a cup of coffee with certain side effects, some are just more harsh and dangerous than others when it comes to adding foreign substances. What you really have to do is try various medications ...

I took Contrave for a few months and stopped a month ago because my hair started falling out. This had a blood test and results indicate liver disfunction (all enzymes measured are raised, my ALT the highest, about three times higher than normal range). My Dr is worried about cirrhosis/tissue death. I have a fibroscan and ultrasound tomorrow and have had anothed set of bloods taken - will have more answers this week. I have done a little reading and see Contrave can cause liver disease. I have never been healthier (otherwise) - eat well (Dr said tge dramatic rise in 6 months couldn't be diet related anyway), exercise five times a week, have consistently lost small amounts of weight (10kg since May). However, I am bloated aften, tired, dizzy, have muscle cramping and weaknesses, am i...

Hi all! I went to the Obgyn today and she sent my blood work off for routine testing which includes my liver levels. I am prescribed this medication, Norco 7.5/325 for degenerative disc disease. I do drink alcohol about 2-3x/week average of 8-10 units/week but always the day before or the day after taking norco. I have never drank alcohol and taken norco on the same day and I always wait close to 24 hours between last drink & dose or vice versa. I freak out about my liver a lot but my neck is in so much pain I try to forget about it. Now the gynecologist sent off these tests and I'm going to have to face the music, although I'm really not ready to. I have been taking Norco regularly (i.e. on the days that I don't drink) since 9/2013 so about 10 months. I usually take 2/d...

I have diabetes my dr said my kidneys are normal however my liver is swollen ## Diabetes can cause organ damage, it it isn't under control, or wasn't diagnosed for awhile and was out of control. What are you current blood sugar readings? It really means that you have to use your medications, as directed by your doctor, and follow a proper diet and exercise plan to keep your blood sugar under control and prevent further damage. In a lot of cases, if they have found no other signs of problems or decreased liver function, they will not pursue treatment, but will keep an eye on it, in the future, by doing regular tests to see if it progresses or starts to become problematic. I have Cirrhosis (stage 4) and have been taking diazepam 10mg two times daily for 1 year. Will this hurt my liver? ## Valium is generally not hard on the liver. It could cause a subtle change in your liver enzymes but this should be negligible on blood tests/metabolic panels. It is not known to cause hepatotoxicity in most cases. Any such instance would be extremely rare. Decreased liver function may, however, affect the rate at which your liver metabolizes this drug. Your doctor should monitor your liver enzymes just in case and clearance of Valium may be decreased; meaning that it could build up to higher than normal levels in your blood plasma (serum). ## It is generally not known to cause hepatic issues, but your doctor should monitor you regularly, while you are taking it. The FDA ...

I was wondering about Zocor. My husband has been taking this medication for a while and just recently he changed doctors. Well the new doctor did some blood work on my husband and the one test for his liver is showing some damage to it. Can Zocor or Zeita do this if you taking this for a long period of time? ## Yes, it can cause liver damage. Doctors are supposed to require a liver (blood) test before they refill this drug, every six months. ## Zocor contains the active ingredient Simvastatin, and according to FDA reports, this medication has been known to cause elevated liver function levels on blood work, and liver failure, along with the more typical side effects that may include nausea, dizziness, and joint/muscle aches. Ref: Simvastatin Information What other actions has his doctor...

Hello, I recently had a liver profile test done along with an ultrasound of my abdomen due to persistent itching on my right side. The results identified a Grade 1 Fatty Liver with SGOT levels at 30.2 and SGPT levels at 38. All other functions appear normal, even my cholesterol is within normal limits. My doctor has prescribed Udiliv 300, to be taken twice daily for fifteen days. I'm uncertain whether this is the appropriate medication for my condition. Could anyone offer advice or share their own experiences with this medication? Thank you for your help.

I took Lexamil 10 mg per day for about 7 months suffered weight gain. Are there any known side effects on the liver as I developed a liver dysfunction 6 months after being off lexamil ## Did your doctor feel that it had any effect on the liver dysfunction? Like most medications, it is processed through the liver, but generally hasn't been known to cause problems, unless someone already had liver damage, or failure. ## I had an anomaly on liver function test on 20 mg escitalapram this wasput down to the escitalapram by my doctor however on later tests it had returned to normal

yesterday I checked my blood after fasting GGT is 101.2 in May count is vdery normal and three months before liver function test done everything normal. I am taking rosuvas10, Olmy D20, Remylin d,vernace acetyl L carnitine and AMIT 10 for neck shoulder pain. Please advise me whether any madicine needed for it. ## That is elevated, but the proper answer on whether it requires any treatment depends on what's causing it. It may just be due to one, or more of your medications and doesn't necessarily mean permanent liver damage. Learn more liver function details here. Have you been scheduled for another blood test in a month or so? Usually, it would require several readings to definitively show that something is wrong and for action to be required.

can omeprazole cause elevated levels on liver functioning tests(blood) ## I was prescribed omeprazole 40 mg for a bad sinus infection. Does this seem right? ## Yes, the FDA does list elevated liver enzymes as being a possible side effect, but it is very rare, usually occurring in less than 1% of the people that take it. How high were your enzyme levels? Depending on how high they were, it may not be due to the Omeprazole. Is that the only medication you are currently taking? Has your doctor done any other testing? Bob, no, this is a proton pump inhibitor that is used to help reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach to help prevent, or treat conditions, such as heartburn, GERD, gastritis, and ulcers. Are you sure that's what was prescribed?

Been on Ramipril 2.5mg for eight years or more and new Dr.changed them to 5mg.I have recently had a blood test to check kidney function/liver,etc and had a call from Dr.to say my potassium levels were high....is this due to the increase in strength of the Ramipril? The medication was increased to bring my blood pressure down to a more acceptable level. ## Hello, Sheik! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem you're having. Yes, Ramipril has been known to cause elevated potassium levels, as a side effect. As listed by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. It may be best to switch to a different medication, depending on how high your level is, since hyperkalemia can be dangerous. Is there anything else I can help w...

Been taking xarelto for 9months after p e in lungs noticed fatigue right away but now having migraines and recent blood test shows raised alt on the liver function test. Has anyone else had these symptoms. My doctor doesn't think they are related to xarelto but I have my doubts. ## Hi Tina. Im Kelly. I had PE also. Tried Xarelto because my disabilities & the fact that I'm a single mum to 2 primary school aged very very active little lads made it difficult to get to my appointments to monitor my blood when I was on warfarin. Also I frequently drop everything to help out my dear old dad on his boat when the weather turns good (another difficult thing for me to do with 2 kids no help and not wonderful health or mobility but as his only relative... you gotta do what you gotta do...

Can this medication affect the liver in anyway ? ## Hello, Brenda! How are you? Most medications are processed through your liver, so yes. Though, it is very rare for it to cause any problems. However, when most people are taking it for a long period of time, their doctors will do liver and kidney function tests to monitor and make sure they aren't developing any problems. This medication is most commonly used to help lower high blood pressure and treat certain cardiac conditions. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, hypotension and dehydration. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have been taking losartan 25mg for about 6 weeks for high blood pressure. Within that time I started to experience back pa...

GFR ## I just had bloodwork done, and results showed Chronic Kidney Disease. At this time the only explanation from MD was that kidneys are not functioning correctly. Liver also enlarged for last 2 yrs. So far no diagnosis. Headed to Mayo for possible answers. Hep., HIV, and all other viruses negative. Anyone have any thoughts? Havn't felt well for quite a while. Thanks to all! ## Get a copy of your blood tests and see what your GFR is - below 60 then you need to see a nephrologist. Your doctor didn't order a GFR test and other related kidney panel - find another doctor - same with liver. Simply saying that you kidneys are not functioning properly and not giving you any further info - find another doctor. Same for your liver. The Mayo Clinic probably gave you additional informat...

Any feedback on risks of taking Aubagio if you have Multiple Hepatic or liver Hemangioma's? Is it liver "enzymes" that should be tested before going on Aubagio? Any other tests pre-Aubagio? How long has it been available? Are there any clinical studies post FDA approval? Does anyone have substantial improvement or problems since taking Aubagio? Please share. I've got enough illnesses/syptoms don't want to add to them... Thanks ## Aubagio is generally not recommended in someone with severe liver impairment, of any type, due to the fact that it has been known to have a detrimental effect on the liver. My wife gets a yellow colouring of her palms, elbow to wrist _ we suspect that it might be sulphides , is this possible ## How often is she exposed to them and in what quantities? That's not a typical allergic reaction, so to speak, but you can really never predict what some people will experience. Has she consulted her doctor to get to the root of the problem? That would be the best way to get an answer. ## Yellow?? Eyes checked. Liver functions tested?? Vitamin A overdose?
