Linzess And Coffee

I've been taking linzess for a week and am having a lot of pain down low in my stomach. I had to take two aspirins to at least get some sleep one night. It also hurts when I urinate. I have to take it in the afternoon because I work during the day. It has been relieving me quite well. I'm just worried about having so much pain to where I moan and groan when I walk and I can't continue any kind of work out. Does anyone have a lot of gas with linzess? Sometimes it won't stop. If so, what helps you with this problem? ## Hi Jo, sorry to hear about your discomfort with Linzess. What mg are you taking? If on the 190 you may need to go to 145. I took Linzess for years and it was great. Took at bedtime and went 1st thing in morning. I will say you need to eat healthy diet. I wou...

I have been taken my linzess 290 mcg with coffee every day and then I continue to drink my full cup of coffee. My question is can that hurt me? I just read I should take this med with a full glass of water. Have I cause any damage by taking this med with warm coffee? Maybe that's why It has not been working and I am feeling some abdominal pain. thank you for replying back. ## Hello Tawanna, When taking any medication it is best to administer the medication as it is instructed. Linzess is a medication used to treat constipation and irritable bowel syndrome. According to the NIH this medication contains the active ingredient linaclotide (NDC 0456-1202) which lists Diarrhea, Abdominal pain, Flatulence and Abdominal distension as common side effects. Hi, I've been taking Linzess about 1-2 times a week for about a year. Usually get several loose BMs when I take it, but sometimes I feel great and other times severe bloating, gas and heartburn. Also have gained 5 lbs in 6 months, could that be from the med? Is it really necessary to wait 30 mins after taking it to eat or drink coffee? Thanks!! ## Hello, Nicole! How are you? Yes, those can be normal side effects of it, as listed by the FDA. Other users have reported experiencing them, as well. You may also experience abdominal cramping. And yes, it is also necessary to wait that 30 minutes to allow it to have its full beneficial effect. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been on Linzess for about 9 months. It was working really well until about a month ago. Now my stools are like small rocks and hard to pass. I sometimes go several times a day but only small amounts at a time. I take 290mcgs every morning at least 30 minutes before I eat. It's usually over an hour before I eat anything. I do drink coffee or Diet Dr Pepper. Can you think of a reason why I'm having problems? ## Hello, Kaye! How are you? Your body might just have become tolerant to the medication, this happens to everyone after having taken something for awhile, for some people one medication may last for years, but for others they can become tolerant much sooner. Linzess has also not been successful for everyone that's tried it, quite a few people reported that it didn...

I suffer from trapped gas in my left upper quadrant. difficult to have good bowel movements except with coffee, been that way for years. Doc put me on linzess 145 once a day - immediate and severe diarrhea but I was actually getting to a point of feeling "empty" - I suffered through 2 full months of this diarrhea until getting a bad bout of nausea and have stopped it cold turkey. Now I seem to not be able to "empty" my colon and get relief. I've also had muscle aches and gagging type of nausea recently. Even after 7 days I still feel those symptoms. Went to the ER to check for blockage and they found none (which is good) but that leads me to blame the linzess and question if it might have withdrawal side effects for some people. ## Hello, Brian! How are you doing? I...

although I do not eat anything for at least 30 minutes before taking the medication, I do drink a few cups of coffee. Is this okay? Also, the Linzess worked the first day I took it and then 2 days later but has not worked for the last 7 days. Any ideas why? ## Hello, Troubled! How are you? No, you shouldn't drink coffee, either. The coffee, or anything else you ingest too soon may be preventing it from working properly. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, bloating, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Are you on any other medications?
