Lexapro False Positive

What false positives will show on a drug screen with Lexapro? ## Lexapro contains the active ingredient Escitalopram, it is an SSRI antidepressant. As such, it will not show up as anything on a drug screen, it contains no opiate, Benzodiazepine or Amphetamine properties, which are what is normally tested for. Why did you think it would? ## Many prescription medications and over the counter medications that are not supposed to have urine metabolites of something else show up. Individuals who are in positions to receive frequent urine drug screens must always be aware of which medication could cause a problem. I have a family member that has a history of cocaine abuse. They are prescribed generic lexapro. My family member recently had a positive drug screen. Could the generic lexapro cause a false positive, and if so, for what? ## It shouldn't. An older class of antidepressants known as TCAs (Tricyclic Antidepressants) would, but not SSRIs or SNRIs. Hi, I have a question. I have been taking some kind of opiate for years. It started with a Hysterectomy, then I had horrible shoulder pain for years which nobody could diagnose. Finally, it was found to be a torn rotator cuff, I had surgery, then I started having sciatica, which was horrible. After 2 or 3 years of pain I finally ended up having a laminectomy, then I had to have bladder surgery. My back surgery didn't go well, I still had pain and on top of all this my life has been one traumatic event after another. I am currently on Norco, Ativan, Prazosin, Tenormin, Gabapentin, and Benadryl, along with Mucinex and Albuterol, for bronchitis. I haven't taken gabapentin, it made me ridiculously tired when I was prescribed it back in December so I stopped it. Recently I tested positive for gabapentin and can't figure out why...i take lexapro, lamictal, imitrex, maxalt, suboxone, melatonin, benadryl as needed, ibuprofen as needed and I've had a sinus infection so I was taking otc cold and sinus medicines, one was a daytime formula, a nighttime and decongestant. ..Please tell me what's causing this ## I am on methadone and tested positive for the gabapentin and I know I did not take it. I take 10 mg Lexapro, 3 mg Melatonin, and Loratab 10/500 daily and tested pos for Benzo.. . Can any of these medications cause the false positive results? ## Is there any "common" way, (like lots of water or vitamins) to flush benzos out of your system within 20 days? I took 1-2mg of xanax for a week and I have a UA with my suboxone Dr in 20 days. I found out (internet) just how dangerous the xanax can be when taken with suboxone so I wouldn't do that again but yikes, I have already had a false pos for eating poppy seeds, and a false pos for THC! Been going to a pain clinic for abou a year due to spinal stenosis mainly. Went in last week for a med check and urine drug screen. The nurse called me back a few days later and told me i tested positive for morphine. im prescibed 4 lortabs per day through the pain clinic. Also take lexapro, gabapentin, zanaflex, otc allergy med with loratidine, and a multi vitamin. I have been to the point of an almost panic attack ever since the nurse called me with the results that i know have to be a mistake. The nurse said he may call me back or the doctor may call me. The urine specimen was done on april 16th and sent to a lab. The nurse called me with the positive morphine result on april 22. I recently took a ETG for probation and failed for alcohol and I haven't drank at all. What can cause me to test positive for alcohol? ## What gives me a false positive for alcohol after five hours? Never heard of it. Never taken it. Just taking the same meds as always, but my Suboxone Dr says I'm positive. 1st test came out positive. Second was negative but that doesn't count. I'm on Klonopin, Cymbalta, Buspar, Lexapro, occasionally Flonase, Zyrtec, Aleve, Tylenol, etc. I have no Rx this time from my Suboxone Dr. I have to go to "substance abuse counseling" and I still don't know if I will be allowed my meds. I'm literally sick to my stomach. Shaking scared. At least if you do wrong, you know you can change your ways. I am prescribed lamotrigine, buspirone, lexapro, abilify, diazepam, naproxen, hydrocodone, mehylphenidate, nuvigil and sudogest. I falsed a urine test with small trace of cocaine in it. I do not use but i do have cancer and take a lot of medication including lidocaine cream at least 4 times a day from having my breasts removed ## Yes, Lidocaine is actually related to Cocaine and it has been known to cause false positives for it, in people that are using it regularly. I jut started getting frequent UA's, and keep coming up for BENZO's ... I was on Librium for withdrawl off Xanax about 20 days ago, and Im on 20 mg Lexapro daily. Can the Lexapro be coming up as a BENZO?? One doctor of mine says YES other Dr says NO... HELP!!!!! ## The Xanax itself can continue to show up on a urine test for 6 weeks, after you have stopped taking it, though the exact time can vary slightly, depending on how long you were taking it and how much you were taking. I tested positive after a U.A. Is it possible while on percoset, morphine, gabapinten, trazadone, and furosimide, that this combination can cause this? Recent urine tox screen in ER was positive for benzodiazepines even though I had not taken anything other than cough medicine with codeine, Lexapro and Remeron. Can the Remeron show up as a benzodiazepine? ## Remeron contains the active ingredient Mirtazapine, it is an antidepressant. That said, no, it should not show up as a Benzodiazepine. There have, however, been a lot of posts recently about these tests coming up with false positives, which makes me thing there is a bad batch out there. Just wondering what lexapril and valiums show up as in a drug screen??? ## Lexapril/Lexapro is an antidepressant in the SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) category. SSRIs are not tested for in usual tests UNLESS asked for. Which I would think is fairly uncommon. But they have been known to cause false positives mostly as Amphetamines & occasionally even Benzodiazepines. As for the Valium it is a Benzodiazepine & if taken within the detectable amount of time the test would be positive for Benzodiazepines.

Ever since I started lexapro my period has been spotty and then stopped. I took a pregnancy test just to be sure and it came back positive. Is it possible that the lexapro is causing a false positive on the test?

I started taking lexapro and because I'm on federal parole we wear a drug patch n it's coming back as postve for methamphetamine. I take other prescriptions but nothing like that.
