I Want Off Suboxone
100+ Topics FoundI started taking suboxone almost 11 weeks ago. I was only taking 4mgs and today i went down to 2mgs. How long will it take me to taper to nothing and not have withdrawals? Please help. I am so sorry I ever touched these things. ## Hello, Karen! How are you? Regardless of how low you taper, you will likely still experience some minor withdrawal symptoms, once you finally stop altogether. Has your doctor provided any instructions? It does contain a very potent narcotic, to you do need to taper off of it as slowly as possible. Is this the only medication you're on? ## ive been taking about 2mg maybe less for about 2 years. havent taken it in three days trying to quit cold turkey. the only withdrawel symptoms ive had was no energy very little insomnia and a little anxiety eapecially whe...
No energy at all.think its all in my head.any advise. ## Hi Number 3! No, it's not in your head. That's one of the side effects of being off suboxone. It can last awhile, every one is different. How long were you on the suboxone for? Other than lack of energy, how are you feeling? ## New here. I have been on Subutex for 7 years. I am trying to get off. It has been 5 days since I had any and weaned before that. I STILL feel like my body is made of lead. I'm so close but can't handle this lack of energy and my legs hurt..... I'm so tempted to call the doctor for an appointment to get back on. Any suggestions? Thanks, ## im 45 days off subs. i jumped at taking 8 to 12 mgs a day & was on them for 5 yrs. my energy level is still pretty low but not as bad as it was. yo...
I was using pain pills for a few years! I have been on suboxone 4 mg for 2 yrs. I have terrible anxiety & depression & am on Cellexa & klonopin for that. That helps! I tried detoxing myself off the Suboxone 2wks ago & went thru hell, after a wk I was better. But still no sleep, achey, nauseous, headache & overall felt like bad flu. Well I relapsed & now am back on it! I want to wean myself off-But am getting my Dr to get me in an outpatient rehab-I have a 2 & 10 yr old & live with my parents. They know it all & My Mom helped me go thru the withdrawls before & had to hold me from shaking. I want off of it fast!! What can I do beside a month of weaning down that will flush it out quicker so withdrawls are easier?? Thanks ## From what I have read/hear...
I broke my neck and my back when I was 29. Never used drugs, I didn't drink or anything, then they sent me to a pain clinic and they never told me it was addictive. I got addicted to it real bad. I have 2 kids. I never neglected them except for showing them my time. I got to the point that I can deal with addiction and more so I wanted a different life. I was on Suboxone for 3 years now and it made my life ten times better. I was able to be the parent that I needed to be. Now I'm just scared that I'm not going to be able to bring myself off of these. ## Hello, Samantha! How are you? Actually, the great thing about Suboxone is that most people are able to successfully come off it and be completely drug free. It does require a slow taper, but that's why it is preferred ove...
Hi. I have been addicted to H/oxycontin for two years. I got clean for 4 months once and never got back to using everyday. I use at the most 3 days a week but most of the time I use just friday night and saturday. When im off opiates i always take 2mg of suboxone daily. Like i said this has been going on for about two years. This is the biggest problem i have when trying to get clean, I know its going to be a struggle but i preparing myself mentally to just grin and bare it but i end up going through this cycle everytime i try to go cold turkey off subs or opiates. The first day i wake up feeling s***ty but go about my day. I go to work and feel super weak and out of it, my nose usually starts running like crazy and its hard to move and I have zero motivation. As the day progresses my n...
On day 4 of sub detox, starting 5th day this evening. Anyone else out there doing this? Would love someone to chat with. ## Hello, DeeDee! How are you? I've never taken Suboxone, so I have no experience with coming off of it, but I can tell you that according to the FDA, some of the withdrawal symptoms may include nausea, headache, rebound pain, diarrhea and chills. How are you feeling? Is it going well? Others should be warned that this medication is a narcotic opiate, so it can be habit forming and withdrawing should only be done under the supervision of your doctor.
Hello everyone, I have been on Suboxone 8/2, twice a day for over 5 years. I want to get off it but I have major health compications. I've had major depression my whole life. My last psychiatrist put me on several other drugs for my depression. One of them is an amphetamine called Vyvanse. (70 mg.) I'm also on 4 mg of clonazepam, 200 mg. of pristiq and Dexilant for acid reflux. I have a history of a negative lipid profile. In addition, I have high blood pressure. I'm also 60 years old. I know that I should never stop anythin suddenly. I have been unable to find asome out of the physician to supervise the withdrawal from anything. I am really afraid that Suboxone withdrawal will trigger a heart attack or stroke because everytime I try to taper down, My heart starts pounding i...
Well yesterday was my last day of subs for me. I tapered myself all the way down to .5mg a day. I'm ok today but my back is starting to mess with me, but I'm fine. The highest dose I've ever taken was 8mg but didn't like the way it made me feel. I've been on subs for almost 5yrs now and it's just time to stop. I'M SICK AND TIRED OF BEING SICK AND TIRED!! It all started with a real bad car accident in which I rolled my car 4 times on I95 in Virginia almost 11yrs ago. Was put on pain pills and the next thing you know I was using oxy's and H main streaming it. Got clean then went right back to it. Went to methadone clinic, and then switch to subs and here I am almost 5yrs later. The hardest part for me right now is that I have a full time job that I like, an...

Suboxone contains Buprenorphine ...
I was on suboxone 2 mg 2x a day for 4 years. I stopped cold turkey due to a request from and death of my father. 16 days until I could sleep more than 2 hours.. Days 1-5 weren't as bad as 6-14. After that it was restless legs.. Fatigue, depression, anxiety, depression again... Not until I began. Sleeping 6+ hours did most of it go away.. Still have depression and restless legs not almost 2 months later and everyday around my normal second dose time I notice I get very tired. F*** suboxone. Do not use it for more than a detox. Save yourself. If I could go back and withdraw off dope or methadone, I'd have stuck with them and not been a p**** and use sub's as a crutch. The "substance abuse" doctors give 0 s***s about you. Its all a business. $$$$ ## Unfortunately, after...
ive taken 132mgs of suboxone over the last 2 weeks how can i guit ## Hello, Nolabob! How are you doing? A slow taper would be best and safest, your doctor should be able to help you set up a proper tapering schedule that will prevent most of the withdrawal effects. Have you discussed it with them, yet? This is an opiate, so withdrawal effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, fever and chills. It also carries the risk of being habit forming. ## Hey Vermon, My Dr has me on 12mg of suboxone 1 time daily I told him I wanted to get off of them asap I was sick and tired of being sick an tired Im 62 yrs old an had an addiction problem all my life or rather since I was 8or 9 yrs old . My wife an I are taking a crusie for our 40 th wedding anniversary 2 of our best friends are a...
How can I stay on suboxone when the doctor wants to take me off? ## Don,t know if it would work but you could tell him you still have urges to use and you don,t think your ready yet. Why do you want to stay on it? ## Hi Bill Brasksi! As Jolter said,"u can tell the Dr that u r still having cravings 2 use." I've been on suboxone 4 almost 8 years, and, I don't plan on getting off it anytime soon. My reason is I feel that I will b back on pain pills, again. (Due. 2 the pain I suffer) I'm just not ready, yet, and, I don't trust myself. ## @Bill, Does your doctor want you off Suboxone indefinitely or is he just trying to get you to taper down from what you've already been taking? In either case, I think it would be a good idea to ask your doctor his reasoning for w...
I am trying get myself clean off H n just took a 6mg suboxone strip. Will it help if so long till it works? ## Hi Kitty! B 4 the suboxone will work, u MUST b in withdrawals. Otherwise, it won't work and can make u feel worse. As far as time, they usually take about 15 minutes 2 work. If the g don't work, u may need more. It all depends on how much and how long u were using. But, if you want 2 get clean, u r going 2 need more than a day or few 2 do it. U should go 2 a clinic or suboxone dr and do it properly. If u r not already doing that. Remember, the main thing is 2 b withdrawing b 4 u take the suboxone.
im am trying to get off painkillers no doctor will help i have 4 kids i need to worry about is there any place to buy suboxone leagly ## Unfortunately the only legal way to get Suboxone is through a prescription from your doctor. If you're trying to wean off I would highly recommend visiting a pain management doctor or specialist as opposed to a regular MD, since they are generally less reluctant to prescribe the types of medications. For more information on doctors in your area that are known for prescribing Suboxone and other related medications, I'd recommend checking out the the link below: buprenorphine-doctors.com/find-a-doctor.cfm I hope this helps! ## hi, i am assuming you are a woman, a mom of 4 children, looking to get off of opiates...i agree with david...i myself hav...
I'm on day four of no subs after a 24 mg a day treatment for pain and addiction. I wish i never touched the stuff. My pain management doc reccommended them to me after a year long perc and vic habit. I wish i just would of suffered throught the few days of WD from that instead of going on subs. THEY DID GIVE ME MY LIFE BACK. BUT!!!! They are very very very hard to let go of. The WD is not as intense as dope sick but it is drawn out and mostly mental. The first week is achey and pissed off. I know that because thats how far i got before then started subs again. I'm on day four trying again. I got some valium this time to help me throught the worst of it so I'm hoping I will win the battle this time. I'm at work today and i'm an emt and i'm getting through on energ...
I have been taking subs for about 5monthes now...had tapered down to 1mg a day and then I messed u and took 2-4 mg a day for about a week. Now I can't get anymore and I only have about 1 and a quarter of a pill left ( About 10 mg) ...am I going to be able to use this small amount to be able to taper enough to have light enough withdrawls symptoms so that I can still go to work...or am I screwed? ## IT is difficult to say, since it does contain the narcotic Buprenorphine, you may experience withdrawals, but the severity can vary from one person to another. It may best to try to plan your taper and the time you stop taking it for when you have a day or two off of work. The withdrawals can cause rebound pain, fever, chills and nausea. If your symptoms become severe, you can always go t...
I read almost all your posts. I think I'm way off here probably just a little off in the head. I've been on vicoden and oxy's since 2003. 98% of the time I was buying the crap off the street. The other 2% I would intentionally hurt myself to get a script, pathetic I know. I took a leap of faith and stopped. Went to a Methadone clinic and regretted it ever since. Missed important life moments and lost all my friends. I was on that crap for 4 years and stopped after weening down to nothing. I was clean for over 6 months before cravings got the better of me and I started stealing family members suboxones strips. Now that member is stopping, I'm going nuts. Depressed and constantly thinking suicidal thoughts. I'm 26years old and I'm getting to thinking I need suboxon...
I got addicted to Roxy's for 2 1/2 yrs when my dad died and took suboxone to get off them. Then started feeling the urge to take Roxy's again so got back on suboxone for the 2nd time. Have been on it for a few years now because I'm afraid to take a narcotic again. I only take a quarter of a strip a day. I have to work full time so I'm afraid to stop taking them because I can't afford to lose my job. Any advice? These narcotics and suboxone really suck! I wish everyone all the best ## Hello, Melissa! How are you? I am very sorry about the problems you've been dealing with. Suboxone does also contain an opiate narcotic, it combines Buprenoprhine with Naloxone, as classified by the FDA, thus it also carries the risk of being habit forming. A slow taper is usually th...
I am the wife of a pain killer addict. I am new to all this and I am so confused. My husband is now is rehab and taking something called suboxone. I am trying to figure out what suboxone is and why he needs it. Please help???? ## suboxone is a pill they give someone to help them come off of painkillers they help with withdraws and cravings. its so hard to come off painkillers, it's very very painful! ## I am praying for you & your husband. My ex-husband is almost 10 years older then me-we married when I was only 20 & had 2 beautiful children together-however I was unaware for along time that he was a pill addict,as the years went by I started to notice how often he kept getting injured & going to emergency rooms then different doctors-till after about 6 years we both had...
So yesterday was day 3 of taking 3 quarters from 8 mg. the doctor is weaning me and my fiancé from 8 mg to 3 quarters. The first couple days I didn't notice much of a difference. Yesterday I woke up after tossing and turning all night, I felt extremely depressed and to top it off I started my menstrual cycle and had very painful cramps. I usually am very busy and on the go. I cried I didn't feel like doing much and I wasn't hungry all day. I have some female problems plus bi polar ptsd and high anxiety disorder. I ended up taking the full 8 mg and my xanax and i slept finally a full nights sleep. I woke up today not depressed in fact I have alot to do and I took my 4 MG when I got up because of the severe cramps. My fiancé told me to take the full 8 mg for 2 days t...
