My doctor just gave me a script for Oxycontin 15mg. How long does it take to build a level in your body as he said I may not get relief right away? ## you will get relief within fifteen minutes if you don't smoke some pot and that should help or take another 10 milligrams. ## if it s a kv pharmicetical generic it may be bad , thet just recalled about 60 to 70 several pills, oxcontin, oxycodone, among the list, this took place on feb. 28 09, if you re in canada, you might got stuck with a placebo ## Be careful of oxycotion is is a form of morphin and can be habit forming. ## It is actually not Morphine, but Oxycodone, another very powerful narcotic and it can, indeed, be habit forming. ## Does anyone know how long it takes for tolerance to build up with oxycontin? I am just started to take Andrew gel I wonder how long it will take before I start to feel the effects specifically I need more energy ## I think it all depends on how low your testosterone levels may have been before you started taking Androgel, in order to effectively determine how long it might take to feel it's effects. I would imagine that you should be able to notice at least a subtle change in energy, libido, or mental drive after a few applications. Try giving it a trial run for a week or two just to see how well you respond to it. If you're looking for more energy in the meantime though, I would suggest green tea or black tea a couple times a day, but not too close to bedtime. I hope this helps! ## Thanks got getting back This is my 2nd day and I feel great my focus is ...

I got off my subs for a month and went back to full antagonists thinking I was gonna have gall bladder surgery. I can't take the opiates anymore so I went back to my subs two days ago after being on methadone for about two weeks. My question is why do I still feel so so weak and I'm not familiar with methadone, so thinking it's still in my system maybe and the two are fighting it out ??? ## Because methadone has such a long half life, I think your assumption is probably correct in that the two medications may be fighting it out on your receptors so to speak - potentially causing side effects such as weakness. MedsChat has a drug half life calculator on the home page here that estimates how long a specific drug/dosage remains in your body after certain time intervals; whereas...

I was on Warfarin for almost 6 months due to a DVT and stage 4 endometriosis. I have been off Warfarin for about 6 days. My leg still hurts and I am concerned that the clot may still be there. While on Warfarin I had arm and chest pain, leg pains, fatigue, etc. I just wondered if these symptoms will go away soon since I am no longer on the drug. ## Hello, Sam! How are you feeling? Have things improved, yet? Yes, they should go away, but it may take a couple weeks, before you really feel back to normal. Many people experience those issues while taking these types of medications and quite a few have had to switch to something else. As to the clot, have you had that checked out to see? Has the chest pain been checked out? Since you've had a clot, that is nothing to play around with, it...

I'm switching from zoloft to paxil. I was feeling very bad on zoloft. I'm still on zoloft as my psychiatrist is tapering me off of it by having me cut from 100 to 50 mg for 14 days and then that's it. I've been on the paxil for three days. How long will it take for the paxil to start overcoming the bad side effects and withdrawal of zoloft? ## Hello, Keithman! How are you? About 2 to 3 weeks and perhaps a month, before it reaches its full efficacy level in your body. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, weight changes and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Its probably too late but it has become more apparent that Paxil can be problematic for alot. Includimg myself. I have been on it for 2 months and I started on 20mg and after a week I was to u...

I was on lexapro for nine months. I put on ten kilos and so I changed to pristiq six weeks ago. I felt awful the whole time and so have decided to go off all medication. I have gone cold turkey three days ago. I'm constantly dizzy, it feels like my brain is a second behind real time. I have terrible diarrhea and my whole body hurts. Strangely enough I am a great deal happier in my mood. A little anxiety but so far no depression or rage. Should I expect worse? How long will it all last? ## After being on them for almost a year, it may take several weeks for the effects to all taper off, because your body has to readjust your brain chemicals on its own. Learn more Pristiq details here. If you quit just 3 days ago, it may get a little worse and you could still experience some rebound e...

I have severe RA, hip and femur full of bullet fragments and severe muscle loss. I have been taking 3 x's a day mscontin 30mg. Dr put me on 30mg of Opana 2 x's daily. I took first 2hours and not helping yet with my pain. How long does it take to kick in fully? Thank you ## The ER designates it as being a time released medication, so it doesn't all take effect, at once, it is slowly released over a period of time, but you should start to feel some relief within a few minutes of taking it. Has there been any change? The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.

I was taking zanaflex 3 times a day for only 5-7 days. Since stopping I have had anxiety and panic attacks. The dosage was 2mg each time. I know this seems petty but I feel as if I'm having withdraws. I ended up in the ER from a panic attack and now I'm wondering if it's because I stopped am taking zanaflex? I've never had this feeling and it's a feeling I can't overcome. How long does withdraws last? ## I'm sorry about the problems you're having. However, this medication doesn't usually cause that, especially after such a low dose for such a short period of time. Its just a muscle relaxant, so it isn't habit forming and the FDA lists its typical side effects as including nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, headache and dry mouth. Are you on any other ...

I have been taking Synthroid for about a year now. I started at 25 mcg and am now taking 175 mcg. My problem is, I still have racing pulse and headaches, they were infrequent, but have become more frequent in the past week or so. I also have sweat episodes. I take Tylenol pm to help me sleep, could this affect the Synthroid. Generally I just feel ill and nauseous with racing pulse for the past week or so. I would appreciate any feedback. Thank you. ## You might want to talk to your Doc about taking a different type of medication like Westhroid or Naturthroid these are the natural types of thyroid meds that work very well for some people. I am in pain management and I currently take oxy 30mg 3x's a day... my doctor is willing to switch me to something else if I want, since the oxys do not provide enough relief. when I asked her what kind of dose I would start at the only thing she would match mg for mg would be morphine..opana she will only start me at 20mg 2 per day. does anyone know if this would be equal to the oxy I take now?? I have read all about how opana is supposed to be about twice as strong as oxy but still I was afraid to switch.. also, does opana " feel " the same as oxy??? thanks to all for reading and replying, HOUSE ## Hello, House! How are you? Morphine is actually weaker than Oxycodone, so matching mg for mg likely won't work. If you were taking 30mgs of Oxycontin, you'd need 45mgs o...

I have nerve pain in my right arm Doctor gave me gabapentin 300mgs to take twice daily how long does it take before I feel it working ## Hello, Dano! How are you? Since it isn't an actual analgesic, it may take 4 to 5 weeks, before it reaches its full level of efficacy in your body to see if it helps you. Is this normal? will it start workinng. I really don't want to try another one I have already tried 4 different ssris. Fingers crossed this goes away ## You are most likely experiencing a bit of a double whammy, side effects from starting the Effexor, as well as withdrawal effects from stoping the Citalopram. It will likely take 4 to 5 weeks for things to settle down and for you to be able to tell how well this will work for you. The FDA lists its t...

I have stopped taking perc 5mg on Sunday still feeling a little funny how much longer will this last??? ## It really depends on how long you were taking it and how much you were taking regularly. It could take anywhere from a few days to about 2 weeks. This is classified by the FDA as a narcotic, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and withdrawal effects, if you stop taking it suddenly are normal and may include nausea, headache, rebound pain, diarrhea and dizziness. Are you feeling any better, yet? ## Withdrawal from Percocets, tramadol, darvon, etc... will make you go through tremendous pain if it was used for pain. Nausea, hot and cold spells are expected but I believe you feel crummy for 3 days but can still function. People who withdraw off of morphine, fentanyl, and othe...

About how long does it normally take before you start feeling the effects? I am using it to treat a urinary tract infection. ## Hi Jane, It's hard to say how long it can take for you to "feel" the effects of a drug, as every drug can effect each individual differently. If you're curious about what the proper dosage should be for a UTI and how long you should be taking it for, then the information below will be very helpful in that regard: "The recommended nitrofurantoin dosage for treating UTIs in adults is 50 to 100 mg four times daily, continued for at least three days after the infection has cleared. For uncomplicated infections, the lower amount is usually recommended. For long-term treatment to prevent UTIs in adults, a dose of 50 or 100 mg once daily at bedtime...
