Filed under FolbicI am taking folbic for high homocysteine levels and am considering becoming pregnant. Is there any research on the effects of taking such high doses of folic acid while pregnant? My pharmacist informed me that Folbic contains about 6.5-7 times the dose of folic acid that is usually contained in a typical prenatal vitamin. Would there be any harm in just using a regular prenatal vitamin and putting the Folbic on hold until after the pregnancy? ## I took Foltx while pregnant and my pregnancy went fine. You have to take the higher dosages because your body is not able to absorb folic acid from food, so where a normal person can get folic acid from food and prenatal vitamins you can not. Also, high dosages of folic acid can deplete your B vitamins so you need the combination to replace what...

pls tell me taking vitamin B12 is benificial or harmful to heart dieases ## Vitamin B12 is an important nutrient that our bodies need. Studies have shown that it can help with heart disease, by lowering Homocysteine levels in the blood. Elevated levels have been directly associated with worsening heart disease. However, you can't go overboard with it and use more than what is directed, because the can be dangerous and cause other health problems. The studies mainly showed it to be of the most benefit, when coupled with Folic Acid, so that is another supplement you may want to consider adding. Are there any other questions?

First, you need to find out why you are getting the clots especially if it does not have to do with an injury. I had two episodes of clots on my lungs and God left me here. The hospital did not want to do testing to find out why I was getting clots, there were no injuries. First they put me on coumadine, made me sick, skin turned gray, muscle weakness, boils under the skin, then xareltosimiliar side effects. My doctor did a MHTFR (methyl deficiency) which is b12 folate or colbanim deficiency and a genetic factor which may have caused my mother's heart attack at 50. Google this look at family history request, no demand the blood work up, insurance pays also homocysteine levels, important, if high may me causing you problems. Filed under Xareltoi am a type 2 diabetic and I also have MS. My doctor prescribed metanx but it is too exspensive so is there an alternative. ## Go to swansonvitamins.com Folate $4.99, methylcobalamin sublingual $9.99 two month supply, P-5-P b6 around $6 about a 2 month supply. You need the b's in this active form and a bottle of TMG helps convert it over for $4.49. You should consider getting tested for MTHFR which metanx is used to treat. It has a huge connection to MS. I no longer have the lesions after an MTHFR protocol. Check out mthfr.net and mthfrsupport.com These forms of b's help break down homocysteine in the body. Many people on oral diabetic medication that have neuropathy have MTHFR. Drugs such as metaformin reduce active b's in people and with MTHFR you are already working on po...
