I am taking Glycomet 1000mg -sustained release twice a day. But I find many a times that the whole tablet coming out in the stool. What is the reason? Does it mean that the system has not absobed the medicine? What is the way out? ## I am aged 63 and suffering from type 2 diabetes. The blood sugar level used to be erratic,at times shooting up to 300PP. I was advised Glycomet 500mg twice a day + Glycomet SR 500mg twice a day. But Glycomet SR was not getting absorbed in the system and I was observing the tablet coming out intact in the stools next morning. My Pharmacist on hearing that changed it to Gluconorm G 500 mg. My wife, 58 years old started taking 3 years back Gluconorm PG2, 2 tablets per day (one each in the morning and evening). She is taking Lorem 2.5 1 tab. per day along with Gluconorm PG2 . 21/2 years back, her blood pressure started coming down . when consulted, the Doctor asked to reduce the strength of Lorem to 1.25 and subsequently stopped using it. Gluconorm PG2 was also reduced to 1 tablet per day since last 6 months. During the last 1 1/2 years, she has put on weight and started heavy pain and swelling on her left arm near the shoulder. I've been a diabetic for the past 10 years. However, for the last six months I have been taking Gluconorm-PG2 twice a day. What are the side effects of this medication? Last year I started taking gluconorm sr 1 mg and gluconorm g2. Now my sugar level is normal. I have been using gluconorm-G1 (one before breakfast and 1 before dinner) for last 3 years, but my fasting glucose level has gone out of control since last 2 weeks. (it is around 186 to 215). what are the differences between gluconorm sustained release and 500mg aand extended release ## There would actually be no different in these, both sustained release and extended release mean the same thing, that it's a controlled release formulation of the medications. Rather than releasing the medications, all at once, as regular tablets do, there are specially made to slowly release over time to help better control your blood sugar. What is the purpose of this medicine prescribed by my doctor? ## I have been taking Gluconorm SR 1g in the morning and 500 mg at night + Vobit 0.2mg in the morning and in the afternoon.
