Can it be used on dogs hot spots? ## Will it hurt a dog if ingested ## Hi Denise, Personally I think it would be a good idea to contact a veterinarian before treating any animal with any medication - Regardless of whether it's a cream or pill for ingestion. The way their system reacts/responds to many types of drugs can be vastly different from what we perceive as normal, so it's better to be overly safe than take even a slight risk with our pets. Something else worth noting is that if the cream isn't used properly, one of its active ingredients (Betamethasone - a steroid) may make some skin conditions worse off. I wish only the best for you and your pet! ## Our vet usually prescribes Otomax for any hot spots/infections, which has the same ingredients as Gelmicin. So it SHOU...

Gentamicin, an antibiotic for treating and/or preventing bacterial infections. Are you able to translate the instructions on the packaging? Can someone please tell me where and how to get this cream in the US? I can't get to Mexico. ## Your local swap meet or any Mexican stores (not like north gate or anything like that ) ## @Shari, From what I've read, two of Gelmicin's ingredients (Betamethasone + Gentamicin) appear to be available by prescription-only here in the US. Clotrimazole is also reportedly available OTC or via prescription depending on the dosage. Having said that, I think your best bet may be to make an appointment with a doctor and have he/she write you a script. You could then take that Rx to a (compounding) pharmacy to see if they'll be able to formulate something similar to Gelmicin per your doctor's request. I know this sounds like a hassle but it's still probably more feasible than...

my breast both have an infection ive tried pills and a cream and it dint work I just wanted to see if this will helo ## Hello, Cubbycele! How are you? How do you know your breasts are infected? Has this been confirmed by a doctor? I'd not recommend using this cream, without your doctor's approval, because one of the ingredients is a steroid, which may make some conditions worse. As listed by the FDA, it could also cause skin burning, irritation and rash. What pills did you try? What was the cream?

I used Gelmicin in Mexico to relieve the itching of bug bites... it seemed to work well but want to know if it really did work or was it a placibo effect? ## Hello, Douglas! How are you? When you have itching or irritation from bug bites, it is actually due to an allergic reaction to various components in their saliva, for instance, mosquito saliva contains a substance that helps keep the blood from clotting, for awhile, so they can feed and the raised welt with itching is due to your body having an allergic reaction to it…. That said, and getting to my point, one of the ingredients in Gelmicin is a steroid, Betamethasone, and they are often used to treat allergic reactions, because they can help reduce the body's immune response, as well as reduce the inflammation, so no, it ...

my daughter contracted vaginal herpes, she tried this cream Gelmicin and says it works great. Is it safe to use and if so where can i get more? thank you. ## Hello, Vanessa! How are you and your daughter? No, she shouldn't use Gelmicin to try to treat herpes. One of it's ingredients in a steroid, Betamethasone and steroids can actually wake up the virus and cause, or worsen breakouts, as reported by the U.S. FDA. To treat or prevent herpes outbreaks, she needs an antiviral medication. Her doctor can prescribe one for her in either a topical cream or to be taken orally. Their typical side effects are nausea, headache and stomach pain. Is there anything else I can help with?
