my father has been prescribed oramorph as and when required he has severe heart failure and a large build up of calcium around his altua valve he coughs continually and causes pain if he took this every time he coughed. Could this be an overdose and kill him? ## Hello, Trevor! How are you? I am very sorry about your father's condition. However, it has been found that when patients have such severe conditions, providing them with such medications in higher doses, or dosed more frequently doesn't hasten death. Now, if he were to take a dose every single time he coughed, if he was coughing rapid fire, then it could still be too much. In most cases, unless a couple hours have passed, if he just waits a few moments after coughing, things will settle back down and the pain will taper ...
I am an 83 yr young healthy female & have been on Multaq & Xarelto for 7 months & now am having problems w/ them (rash, itching & flu-like symptoms etc). My question is can I have the implant devices called ICD & AICD instead of these meds?
Filed under MultaqI have been advised to take Losartan for mild heart failure .Have been increased the dosage from 25 to 50 but feel really tired and weak . Is this usual? ## Hello, Sunrise! How are you? Yes, this medication is often used to help with heart function when someone has heart failure, I take it myself. And yes, it can cause those types of symptoms as side effects, but the heart failure itself could also be causing them. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, headache, increased urination and hypotension. The side effects should eventually go away, once your body gets used to the medication, usually around 4 to 5 weeks. If they continue past that, you should have it checked out. Is there anything else I can help with?
My friend's feet and ankles have been swollen and redish purple for about 6 months now. He is winded all the time and [years ago] has been diagnosed with an enlarged heart. he is not diabetic [we check him regularly], but his heart rate is usually over 110. ## Hello, DonnaMarie! How is he doing? Yes, those could be some symptoms of it, but they can also be symptoms of other conditions. He should consult his doctor to have the matter checked out. How is his blood pressure? Has it been high recently?
What medications are oK is use when you have a pacemarker ## You should really discuss this with your doctor. There are several factors in play here that could affect whether or not any given medication is safe for you to use. For example, with active congestive heart failure, you can't use nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications, such as Ibuprofen, because they can cause more fluid retention. There are also some medications that are used to improve heart function for other conditions, but aren't safe for someone with congestive heart failure. Have you talked to your doctor about this?
Is it safe for a man with congestive heart failure to take fildena 50mg ## Hello, Cherie! How are you? It would be best to see medical advice on this matter. The active ingredient in this, Sildenafil, can cause additional lowering of the blood pressure and heart rate, so it may adversely effect someone that has CHF. It may also have interactions with any medications the person is taking. Which ones have been prescribed? Is there anything else I can help with?

My farther is 89 and already diagnosed with heart failure. Congestive Heart Failure. From my poor knowledge this might be Diastolic heart failure as he has fluid accumulation in the feet, ankles and legs. This was initially controlled by lasix,, Aldactone and angizaar/Lorsatum then the fluid was lost but legs remain with stiff muscles. Then later prednisolone was introduced and now he is too weak to walk. Is this combination of drug correct? How can we help him to relieve the problem of stiff muscles?
Filed under Lasixhave exhausted most known brands at 83 many years b,p, now past 6yrs fitted with pacemaker for congenital heart failure, b.p. persists in spite of saltfree diet present medication will have to be changed soon can I use prexum plus...drug prendopril???I think...... ## Hello, Rosa! How are you doing? Why will your present medication need to be changed soon? Unless it's not working, there shouldn't be any reason to have to switch to something else. As to what else you can take, with your medical condition, you need to discuss that with your doctor for your own safety. On top of the salt free diet, do you also make sure to get plenty of exercise? Are you also eating low fat foods? One very common problem with low salt/no salt foods is that it removes flavor, so they often heap it wi...
I have acute Sciatica & also have a heart condition. Will Coxflan relieve the Sciatica pain & will there be any problem with my heart condition? I am 71 & battling with the back & leg pain. Thanks for any help. ## Coxflam contains the active ingredient Meloxicam, which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and no, these are not usually given to heart patients, because of the dangers that they can present to someone that has an existing heart condition. NSAID can cause fluid retention, which can result in complications, such as congestive heart failure. In addition, congestive heart failure has been induced by large doses and long-term use of some NSAID medications. My doctor has instructed me to stay away from all of them and said the only thing I should use is Acetaminoph...
I took this in the past and recently started back up. Been on it about 5 days now and last night started experiencing heart "flutters". I have had issues with this in the past and take atenolol for that but since I started back on the phentermine, been having them again. Is this a normal reaction to phentermine? I take 30mg and take it in the morning. ## Yes, this medication is basically a stimulant, so it can cause elevated heart rate, elevated blood pressure, both of which may cause palpitations, according to FDA reports. It also carries the risk of being habit forming. If you have some type of heart issue, it may not be safe for you to take this medication. Was it prescribed by your PCP? Have you consulted a cardiologist? I have congestive heart failure and am not allowed to ...
I take 25 mg of Metoprolol Tartrate in the am and 50 mg at 6:00pm and have been on this drug for years - previously was on Lisinopril and doing fine - just diagnosed with mild left concentric ventricular hypertrophy on Echo - how serious is this ? Also now have orthostatic hypotension when I stand up - can’t even get cardiologist on the phone and NP or Med aide call back with no help! ## Mild left concentric ventricular hypertrophy translates to enlargement and thickening of the walls of your hearts main pumping chamber, it can develop in response to several medical conditions, such as high blood pressure, heart failure, and other heart conditions, basically anything that causes your left ventricle to work harder than normal. After all, the heart is a muscle, so if it works more/h...

I was just prescribed bystolic 5mg for anxiety/anger issues. Just wondering if I should expect good or bad results ## Bystolic contains the active ingredient Nebivolol, which is a beta blocker that's most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. Learn more Bystolic details here. However, I have found nothing about it treating anxiety and anger issues, actually in men, it can make them worse, because it tends to increase the level of testosterone in the body. Is it ok to give a 16 month 1/4 of a 10 mg predizone? She woke up with a little bit of a hive looking rash. The next morning it was worse! ## Hello, Jessica! How are you? Sorry about your daughter's rash. No, please don't give her a prescription medication, unless her pediatrician specifically prescribed it for her. Prednisone is potent steroid class medication that can cause some pretty serious side effects and complications, such as fluid retention and heart failure. Thus, it's not safe to try to guess at an appropriate dose for a chid, especially when you aren't sure what's caused the rash. Learn more Prednisone details here. Have you called her doctor, yet? ## I did. I was told to give her benadryl. I did and its all cleared up and she is just fine thank u
My job almost forces us to get the flu shot which i think is stupid and don't agree with. Is there anything i can take to counter the flu shot and make it as though it wasn't given? ## Hello, Spots! How are you? No, there isn't. Would you rather get the shot or risk your life, since the flu can be fatal? Please don't think I mean to be rude, but I am just laying things honestly on the line and out in the open for you. My fiancé has to get it every year for his job and, since I had congestive heart failure 5 years ago, my doctor insists that I get it, too. It makes perfect sense, to be honest, anything that could cause my lungs to fill up with fluid, could lead to another CHF… and my fiancé would hate to put me at risk, by not having one and being exposed ...
