Will the diarrhea stop after being on viibryd for awhile? ## Hi, Ruth! That can certainly be an annoying side effect. And yes, it should go away after about 4 to 6 weeks, once your body has gotten used to the medication. If it doesn't, or if it becomes severe, then you should consult your doctor immediately. In the meantime, as long as you're not on any fluid restrictions or been told by your doctor not to do so, you may want to add a little extra water each day to prevent dehydration. Other side effects may include nausea and insomnia. Learn more Viibryd details here. I do have high cholesterol and high triglycerides(sp?) but the Cholestyramine was prescribed for me for diarrhea and such since my gall-bladder surgery. i am confused as it is not on the instructions re: what I went to the doctor to have "fixed"? I was losing my stools 3 or 4 times per day. ## Cholestyramine can be used to treat diarrhea, because it makes bile acids, such as those that may be secreted after gall bladder surgery, from being osmotically active. When they are osmotically active, they attract more water from the body into the bowel, which can cause diarrhea. It may cause side effects, such as: constipation, nausea, tooth discoloration and premature tooth decay. I was prescribed Irospan for low ferritin but it is causing diarrhea. My doctor suggested taking it every other day but I fear it will just cause diarrhea every other day. I would like to be taking at least some iron every day. Has anyone tried splitting the pill? ## It is not recommend that they be cut, or split. The Irospan tablets are listed as being controlled release, so cutting or splitting the tablet could result in your getting too much, at once, which could result in even worse side effects. What else have you tried for the diarrhea?

I just took my first Nexium pill before bed last night. This morning I have horrible diarrhea. I know diarrhea is a side effect. Does anyone else have experience with this? How long did it last? ## Hello, Naomi! How are you? Most side effects are transient and usually go away with time, as your body gets used to the medication, but it may take 3 or 4 weeks. Ive been on gabapentin 800mg 3 x's a day for several months for treatment of fibromyalgia pain and anxiety. I have been waking up every morning with diarrhea (2-4 trips to bathroom) for about the same amout of time, and my doctor claims the 2 are not related. I cant remember having a normal bowel movement since beginning the gaba and am wondering if anyone else may have had the same experience? The gaba has been the most effective treatment I've tried for the fibromyalgia pain & the added benefit of treating my anxiety has been wonderful as well & I'd hate to stop taking it. But if the trade off is daily diarrhea, i may have to stop! Of course my doc wants to run a bunch of expensive tests for the diarrhea, but if its as simple as stopping the gaba I'd rather sta...

Those can be normal side effects of such a medication, usually they last about 3 to 4 weeks, before tapering off and then going away entirely.
