I had to take Xarelto due to two sinus venous thrombosis in my head. 8 weeks of heparin injections showed no side effects. But with the first day of taking Xarelto my body reacted by retaining water. Within the first three weeks I gained 24.46 lb hill exercising 5 times a week and eating as I always did. After retaining more and more water I stopped taking it after three months. I started with a weight of 120 lb at a height of 5''8 and now I weigh 157 lb. I have to ad that I started taking it in the middle of March and stopped taking it at the end of June. I was not able to loose any water/weight. I eat less than I always did before even while I exercise. All doctors couldn't find the one thing that changed through Xarelto. Has anybody ever experienced something like this wh...

My dad has been in Eliquis for past 3 months to treat a-fib. He also has CHF and weight gain (20 lbs) with swelling. Also nosebleeds. Thinking Eliquis is caysibgyall if this. Will pursue going back to Coumadin ## Hello, Moe! How is your dad doing? Yes, the Eliquis could be the cause and his doctor should be informed, there are other medications he can try, as well as switching back to the Coumadin. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Coumadin as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. Is he on a diuretic? ## I've been on Xerelto, for about a month. I've got swollen legs and feet, have occasional headaches, very distended stomach and weight gain. I'm tired all the time. I am 37 years old and have gained an excessive amount of weight in the last couple years and it's getting worse every month. It's mostly around my belly but I've noticed in my legs that I have a lot of water. My fingers also seem to tingle a lot too. ## Hello, Daylyn! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. And I urge you to see your doctor, as soon as possible. What many people aren't aware of is that such extreme fluid retention can put you at risk of congestive heart failure and it may cause high blood pressure. Both of which require treatment for your own safety. Are you on any medications that might be causing it? ## No, No medications. And also No insurance. Going to the Dr can be very expensive. Probably the biggest reason I...

I only received 2 injections of humira and had horrible loss of body water (peeing constantly). Two weeks later I ended up with a severe kidney infection. I will never get another shot, but I'm experiencing swelling in my legs and want to know if all the side effects will soon go away? I am sticking back with my remicade!

I have been prescribed this medication for inner ear treatment. My doctor told me to take a pill at about 8 o'clock in the morning because this medication will make me go to the ladies room 3 times more often than I usually do. I said that I don't need to go more often than I do because it was already many times more than what is normal. Even during the night time I'm going every 1-2 hours on some nights, but sometimes don't get up and just use the bathroom normally: before going to bed and after I get up. Some nights I can go just 1 time during my sleep cycle. My doctor still thinks that I need to take this medication daily anyway. I take it now like he prescribed, but received the opposite effect. After talking a pill at 8 o'clock in the morning I go to the bathroo...

I am on the search for an antidepressant that will not cause weight gain or fluid retention. Can someone give me some personal experiences with medications they were on? I am prescribed 6 mg of Xanax daily for anxiety and panic attacks. I have in the last 6 months or possibly 9 months have been increasingly retaining water and am now taking fluxomine and potassium to try to rid the water retention in my legs although I have a large belly bulge hard as a rock which seems to be part of the whole disaster. now I am wearing 30 40 hg compression thigh high to help with moving the fluid build up out of my legs which works as long as I wear them every day until bedtime. it does nothing for the belly bulge and the water or whatever this fluid is in my complete torso . I look like I have small womens breasts and very large thighs above where the compression stockings stop at the thighs. My Dr prescribed Demedex 20mg once a day and aldactone 50mg 2times a day seems like a lot of diuretic too take I have a lot of fluid for some reason last time I took torsimide/demedex my sodium level was very low and I was hospitalized I worry about that is there any natural way to try and lose the fluid I don’t like taking meds to begin with ## Do you know why you are experiencing such fluid retention? Do you have high blood pressure, or a cardiac condition? That's really not an outrageous amount to take. It is also far more risky to allow fluid retention to remain uncontrolled, since that could result in congestive heart failure, which has the potential to be fatal. Do you eat a lot of salty, or fatty foods? Both could contribute to fluid retention. Are you on any other medi...

I was given this for fluid retention, I already take procardia for blood pressure, should I be taking the hydrochlorot or another water pill? ## no, dont take another water pill it may interact to your other med.. try to talk to your doctor first.. ## HI, Sat! How are you? Any diuretic, aka water pill, is going to affect your blood pressure, not just this one. Learn more Hydrochlorothiazide details here. I was prescribed Pota chloride 8meq because I take Lasix for fluid retention and was told I needed to take a potassium supplement to replenish lost Potassium through the fluids I'll eliminate. Is there OTC potassium and natural foods I can take to just add potassium instead of continue to take the prescription? ## There any many natural foods that contain generous amounts of potassium. I supposed the most popular food is bananas. They say roughly 4-5 medium sized bananas a day reaches the daily value for the average adult; however, I know that we're all different and require different amounts depending on our current levels, so there's no one-size fits all approach, outside of tailoring your diet to meet your unique needs. So, when hypertension is a misread diagnosis and Losartan is prescribed, fluid retention occurs. HCTZ is added to no avail then doubled. Retention continues. Before Losartan, BP avg to 160/100. After, 160/90. HCTZ added, 140/90. HCTZ doubled, 110/87. Remove Losartan and HCTZ, 130/80. A misdiagnosis can be deadly. Not understanding your med cocktail is just as deadly. Mine was a case of hyper-vigilance brought on by bad medication complex. Doctors miss this daily. I tried with 6 doctors who kept going with the hypertension conclusion. Once I stopped the bad medications, I was fine. Don't always trust a doctor to be correct. They don't always have the time to do the correct research. Do your homework. It's your body.
