While traveling on a small aircraft I developed a sudden swelling on my face. It was diagnosed as Bell's Palsy. Any information on this ailment? ## Bell's Palsy is a form of facial paralysis, not swelling. What doctor provided you with this diagnosis? Have you had a stroke, Lymes disease or other severe illness recently? A sudden swelling, such as you've described, would be more indicative of an allergy.

I just started taking 75mg of irbesartan..I am fine when I wake up but when I have a black cup of coffee within 30 minutes my lips start swelling...is this common and should I switch medications ## Hello, Graham! Recently was prescribed Gabapentin 300 mg three times a day I took one pill and ended up sleeping and woke with red face n swollen red lips is this normal ? I have taken this pill for 3 days (one daily) and now my feet and ankles are swollen. Is this a side effect? Also does this med raise your blood pressure? ## Swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, are all actually signs of an allergic reaction to this medication. The side-effect warning label does advise you get emergency medical help if you have any of those signs; including but not limited to slow or shallow breathing and a slowed heartbeat. In that sense, I do believe this drug effects your blood pressure. Have you expressed these concerns to your doctor yet? I would think that you may have to switch medications since these are potentially life threatening side effects. I hope this info helps!

I am 76 years old. I was prescribed Nitrofurantoin 50 MG twice a day for a UTI. Recently I had an absess, went on antibiotics and got the tooth removed. At the same time my left hand side of my face pulled down somewhat - my lips at the side, my eyelid, hard to talk or smile, face distorted. My doctor says it might be Bells Palsy.
