I was on HRT implants for about a year. Had nothing but good results with it, felt great, no weight gain, good drive, lots of energy. The draw back is the cost so my doctor suggested Estratest (generic) I started taking it about two weeks ago, mainly for libido and mental clarity. It makes me dizzy. Even when taking it at night I'm dizzy during the day. I feel the dosage is too low and might need to be increased but with the dizziness only one tablet is causing, I am afraid. Do the symptoms resolve after taking it for some time? ## In theory, they should go away, after your body gets used to it, but with hormones that can take about 3 months. Are you sure that's whats causing the dizziness? What are your blood pressure levels? Have you been dehydrated, at all?

Post menopause - no medications for 10 years, until recently when needed help for symptoms. In my 4th month now of this tablet, taken with 10 days progesterone. Noticed yesterday a small rusty discolor on my pantiliner. This mornings noticed same when wiping after urinating. Abdomen feels like it used to during a period. Not sure what to do. ## Hello, Deb! How are you? Anytime you are post menopausal and have vaginal bleeding, you should have it checked out by your doctor. In your case, it is most likely due the hormones you're taking, but there is a chance that it could be due to something else, so it's better to have it looked into for your own health and safety. Side effects to these hormones may include nausea, headache, irritability and other hormonal type symptoms. Is ther...

I just took my prescription to the pharmacy which I have had for 6 months. They told me the prescription was only good for 6 months because it is a controlled substance. They filled the first 3 months but said I would need a new prescription in 3 months. It is my hormone replacement which I still had some, so didn't take to the pharmacy until now. The name is Estrogen-Methyltestos F.S. Tab. How is this a controlled substance? ## It has always been a controlled substance under the Anabolic Steroids Act, due to the Methyltestosterone in it. Learn more Methyltestosterone details here. Thus, these restrictions have been in place for years, by law, but most pharmacies didn't enforce them. They tried to get around it due to the Estrogen that is also in this HRT. But recently the FDA a...

I am told that tb is for tablet, fs is for full strength hs is for half strength, is this true? ## Hello, Jane! How are you? It depends on where and how it's included on the prescription, but generally yes that is correct. From what you've listed, the tb would stand for tablet, in this case. The FDA classifies this as a hormonal supplement and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

can lghtheadedness and feeling of fainting and leg cramps a side effecf. i fell faint almost every day in addition my sweating restarted again after 68 days since i start this meds. Also hand and feet are clamy and sweaty the last 2 weeks coinsided with the symtoms above. is 4his normal side effect ## No, the leg cramping and feeling like you're going to faint don't sound like typical hormonal side effects. Learn more hormone details here. I'd really suggest talking to your doctor, this may not be the right medication for you, or you may need a dosage adjustment and you should really have the other symptoms checked out. Is it just sweating, or a full hot flash?

I started taking this medicine approximately 3 weeks ago and I have had a nagging cough for about 2 weeks. Could this medicine have anything to do with the cough? ## It is a hormonal based medication, so in theory it shouldn't, but it's difficult to know how any given medication will affect anyone that uses it. Have you consulted your doctor about the issue?

Is it possible one of the side effects is iching all over? I have been taking this and just got switched to a higher dose. Have been taking the higher dose for about 2 weeks and today have some iching problem. Ich all over!, even my hands. No cold or flu symptoms. ## Hi Rachel, itching, rashes, or hives, are actually caused by a severe allergic reaction to this medication. It seems like it just took a while to build up in your system before your body recognized it as being allergenic. The medication guidelines suggest that you seek medical attention right away if you do experience a severe reaction such as this one. I wouldn't feel too worried as long as you are able to stop the medication asap and schedule a visit with your doctor to assess the situation and get that itching to sto...

does estrogen methyltestos f.s tabs cause weight gain ## Hi nicki, Based on my research and from listening to other's personal experiences, I'm led to believe that any type of hormonal supplement can easily have a significant impact on your weight in general. With this particular medication, weight changes are a common side effect. Reason being is that your hormones are largely responsible for proper thyroid function; which in and of itself controls your metabolism and other like-factors that help your body to maintain and control it's weight. You can view a list of side effects here: medicinenet.com/methyltestosterone_with_estrogen-oral/page2.htm#SideEffects I hope this helps! ## I am thinking about not taking the Med just because of the side effects of gaining weight. Inte...

Hi, I was just put on Estrogen and methyltestosterone1.25 2.5 mg. I was first put on a very low birth control and it stopped me. Was crying all day (and I can count the times in my life I cried) So I knew something was happening. But vaginal atrophy no libido, etc, make me want to get some testosterone to possibly be normal ... So i was put on Estrogen and methyltestosterone 1.25 2.5 mg, plus progesterone. All 3 pills, no stopping. My question is... Is this a super high dosage? Also, I know I need progesterone so in counteracts, but from estrogen of course testosterone? Is there a way to do all this without putting it through the liver? Thank you in advance.

Does this medication make you gain weight or retain weight? I am on weight watchers and have gained 4.6 pounds in the last week, when before I was losing 2.2 pounds every week. Also is one of the side effects of this drug, constipation? If so, how do you correct this? ## Weight gain is actually a common side effect associated with this medication as well as other drugs that affect one's hormonal balance. Hormones help regulate your metabolism and thyroid function, which directly influence weight gain or loss. The best way to combat weight gain in my honest opinion would be to change your diet and/or exercise regularly if you don't already do so. If I were in your shoes I would start with eliminating any excess fat and sodium in the diet. Foods with high sodium create water reten...

Hi I've been taking this medication now for nine months. Is it going to harm me if I quit taking it cold turkey? My husband just changed jobs and we are without insurance. This medication is very high priced, with out the insurance I can't afford it. I really haven't a choice. ## Hello, Sis! How are you? There will be no long-term harm, as reported by the FDA, but you may experience some withdrawal effects that may include headaches, irritability and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?
