I've been taking .25 of clonazepam for over ten years for Chronic neck pain. Recently I've come across bad batches or something changed in the medicine and have been getting withdrawal symptoms. My terrifying problem is that its work perfectly for my neck pain and now I need to not only worry about withdrawal but the chronic neck condition that I now can't get relief from. Does anyone know what I can do. Detox is one thing but what am I going to do for my chronic neck pain while I detox.. Lord, God help me to find the right answer... ## Hello, Sandra! How are you? I am sorry about the problems you've experienced. After taking it for so many years, it could be that your body is just becoming tolerant to this dosage, so it is no longer as effective for you. You may need a ...

How long does it take to withdrawal from clonazepam 1/2 of 0.5 for over 10 years? I'm getting withdrawal symptoms and was put on lorazepam. ## Most will say your minimal clonazepam dose shouldn't cause a substantial withdrawal syndrome period. They would be wrong.the best and only advice one should give is to be medically tapered or detoxified. In a proper medical setting benzodiazepine withdrawal can be life threatening. Best of luck and God bless ## My major problem is that I'm taking it for chronic neck pain. What do I do about the reason I'm taking it for? I never had side effects not even when I went from the 0.5 to the .25. But the because I came across bad batches I realized I had a problem. I always had used the same brand because I am extra sensitive to medicati...

There are all these conspiracy theories about clonazepam generics, the FDA heavily regulates these and cannot have > +/- 20% of active ingredient. I too favor the tevas, but those are the old school generics and I think we just have an emotional attachment/ placebo effect to with regard to them. These placebo/mental effects can cause REAL withdrawal symptoms (my psychiatrist is one of the top pain/anxiety management docs in Texas). Also certain message boards dont even allow generic brand comparisons because there can be no noticeable difference between generic brands in terms of the effectiveness, but there may be placebo effects on addiction/withdrawal. Does anyone have any non-anecdotal evidence to support certain generics being worse than others? ## If you really want to read up...

Klonopin, or clonazepam is one of the hardest drugs to get off of. I have seen this in hospital settings as a nurse myself and as a patient of this horrible drug. Benzodiazepines should never have been invented. I have been on this med for 3 years now, and cannot handle the withdrawal affects no longer than one month. I wish the doctor would have warned me of how dependent your brain and the central nervous system relies on this med only after even 2 months of taking this. I have been advised by doctors to slowly shave the pill down over a period of a year if needed, and then I have had some doctors tell me that may never be able to get off of this drug ever!! Withdrawal symptoms include for myself a feeling of anxiety and panic constantly, never-ending, shaking, hot and cold, no appeti...

I'm trying to kick suboxone, a friend gave me some clonazapam, will this work. I want to kick, not get another habit though. ## Hello, Tyree! How are you doing? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. Getting help from a medical professional would be best. The FDA classifies Clonazepam as a benzodiazepine, it is most commonly used to treat anxiety and nervous disorders. It does carry the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. That said, it may help with some withdrawal symptoms, but its doubtful that it will alleviate them all and yes, you could just be trading one addiction for another. Suboxone is a narcotic analgesic that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential ...

My father has been taking Clonazepam for years. He takes 4mg a night to sleep and he also takes Amitriptyline along with it. About 6 months ago he lost his bottle of Clonazepam and could not get it refilled for another 2 weeks (controlled substance law would not allow it until 30 days from the last refill). After about 5-6 days of cold turkey, he being having high blood pressure, vertigo, clammy skin, numbness in left arm, etc. We thought he was having a stroke. We went to an Urgent Care Clinic and the MD there said he believed it was the withdrawal from the Clonazepam. He prescribed a different Benzodiazepine that he believed would keep him from complete withdrawal and so we all assumed these symptoms would go away. Most of them did ease up, but not 100%. When he restarted the Clonazep...

Hi all, just a few days ago I got a refill for my Clonazepam. The manufacturer has been changed, the pills are produced by Northstar. For the life of me I can't remember what the previous manufacturer was, I will ask my pharmacy. Anyway, I feel like I'm having withdrawal symptoms ever since I take the new generic. Nothing serious, but irritating. I'm only taking 0.5 mg in the morning and 1 mg in the evening. After taking the one in the morning, for the rest of the day I feel like I've forgotten to take it (which happens sometimes). Irritable, dry mouth, jumpy. In the evening I notice a difference too, but not as much, because I take the 1 mg right before I go to bed and I am taking an OTC sleep pill (actually gummies, brand is Olly) as well. It's takes longer to fall...

I've had a traumatic brain injury and my right arm shakes uncontrollably. Do you think taking clonazepam will help the shakiness or tremors? After all the neurologist thinks it will. I want to know your views and thoughts on this condition. ## I myself have brain stem cancer and had the back of my skull removed and all but 2% of the cancer cut out. I'm on heavy doses of Meclizine, its a dizzy anti-vertigo pill but helps alot with shakes. I have shakes through-out my whole body and nerve damage on my left side. I'm on Clonazepam also, but i haven't noticed any help with the shakes from it. ## Clonazepam has been known to help with these types of symptoms. However, the FDA does warn that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea...

is anyone still having symptoms from a sudden clonazepam withdrawal. could you get any help? ## Pretty much everyone who stops this drug abruptly without weaning off, is bound to experience some sort of withdrawal symptoms. A sudden withdrawal also carries the risk of seizures. In my opinion, the best way to avoid this situation would be to talk to your doctor about setting up a tapering schedule and following that for however long it takes to safely stop using it without any repercussions. So to answer your question, yes, you can seek help from your doctor in so far as having him or her write a new script for you at a lesser dosage. Withdrawal symptoms can last weeks or even months for some people, so I think the sooner you're able to take action with your doctor the better. I hope...

I have been prescribed Clonazepam (Klonopin) for 7 years, first for Restless Leg, then for ALS. The ALS was diagnosed at Columbia Presbyterian 3 months ago. My symptoms are clear but not completely incapacitating yet. In 7 years I have either lost or taken too many pills 3 times and each time nobody would help me, so I would go to the hospital, where I was always admitted (of course). This time I took too many pills and I just don't want to go to the Emergency Room again. It's ridiculous. They'lll keep me 2 weeks when prescribing the drug would do it... Is there another way? ## Hi Sarah, Usually for drugs like this the safest way to stop taking them is to tapper off them, if possible. Some medications can be taken in fractions (actually cut into pieces) and these smaller pie...

Hi. There has been a lot of talk about generic clonazepam brands with many claiming something is just not right, people experiencing horrible withdrawal symptoms as soon as they get on these generic brands, people having seizures once again when they hadn't had any in years, people claiming they have to take 2 or 3 mgs of these generic brands for each 1mg of their previous generic brand like Teva or Mylan. I recently had a depression relapse and was taken to the hospital. At that time I had both Sandoz Pharmaceuticals and Accord Healthcare generic clonazepam. And I had been taking both generic brands in the previous 3 weeks switching them around. They were both 2mg tablets. Well, guess what? I took a bag of all the meds I was on and went bottle by bottle telling the nurse which ones...

Withdrawal from Clonazepam can occur if you get use to taking the medication regularly and you become physiologically dependent on it. Because of tolerance you can feel it becoming less effective over time and get withdrawal symptoms even if you continue to take the same amount of Clonazepam. ## Withdrawal from Clonazepam can occur if you get use to taking the medication regularly and you become physiologically dependent on it. What happens when someone suddenly stops taking Lonazep 0.25 mg? Are there any withdrawal symptoms? ## If you've been on it for a long period of time, then it isn't safe to just stop taking it abruptly as doing so creates the risk of seizures. Lonazep contains the active ingredient Clonazepam, which is a benzodiazepine and since these medications can be habit forming you may also experience withdrawal effects, such as irritability, nervousness, headaches and diarrhea.

Want to carefully stop clanopen..what to expect. ## Hi Nanette, Depending on how long you've been taking clonazepam, I would strongly encourage you to contact your doctor first about setting up some sort of tapering schedule that you can easily adhere to. From what I've heard, withdrawal symptoms from this type of drug are nothing short of dangerous if you don't wean down properly after long term use. Reported symptoms may include but are not limited to the following: anxiety, distress, depression, flu like symptoms, insomnia, weight loss, paranoia, derealization, fatigue, aching jaw, etc, just to name a few. I sure hope you're able to seek the right kind of help before taking the plunge! Keep us posted if you will! ## Thanks for the info. I am totally off Clanopan. I we...

Taken clonazepam for 12 years 2mg 3 times a day for anxiety? Are they addictive? What happens when I do stop them? I was told that I can just stop at anytime. ## Hello, BL! How are you? Yes, Clonazepam are a benzodiazepine, so they can be habit forming and, if you've been taking them 3 times a day for years, then no, you can't just stop cold turkey. That creates the risk of seizures due to withdrawal, as well as other withdrawal symptoms, such as headache, diarrhea, irritability, nausea, anxiety and insomnia. To stop taking them, it would be safest to do a very slow taper, such as gradually lowering your dosage, while skipping doses, but only your doctor can help you decide the safest method for you. Are there any other questions or concerns?

Age 88 female with pacemaker, has bp of 130 /50... Is low diastolic a problem?? Meds are 40 mg Micardis and twice a day of 5 mg Plendil. Has sciatic nerve problem. Taking .5 mg of clonazepam nightly to sleep. ## It really depends on whether or not it is causing you any symptoms, according to the NIH, such as dizziness, headache, or fainting. Are you experiencing any such symptoms? I also take blood pressure medications and my cardiologist told me that there was no need to worry, unless you are experiencing such problematic symptoms.
