Can I Shower With Patches

Please let me know the gel brands for fent 25 patches. I always used PAR and now I guess they are obsolete. I'm in northern virginia and I hate the foil backed ones as they are like gum when they get wet and then a ball of gook. I could handle the little tiny ones that are non gel but I they too aren't very sticky once they get wet. The gel ones, I can take off when I shower and stick them back on their plastic and re-stick. I wear them on my hip wear my underwear elastic is and worse case scenerio, I put a bandaid over it if the sticky isn't very sticky. People are talking on a site about sucking on F patches.if I lose one in the shower its no longer good after being wet.how can the patch b wet and then used effectively? ## Well, that is the fact of relevance here, they aren't using them appropriately and effectively. Sucking on them is abusing them, they are trying to get all of the narcotic out to get high, rather than using it as designed by letting it slowly release to alleviate their pain. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I'm new on 100 Fentanyl patches for the second day - feel OK, I've been on opioids for pain management for few years, read a lot of scary posts on misuse and deaths... I am so worried at this point, that taking a shower scares me.. Can anyone suggest any "coverage" for the patch area, while in a shower??? I don't think I can just "take a shower as is", it will come off, I'm sure... I like the patch, it does work (I intend to use it EXACTLY as prescribed), but I am, as mentioned before, simply paranoid that I will get the patch wet, damaged, etc... Also, I read a "hot showers are a BIG NOs" - anyone tell me more about it??? Hello! I need help, please! See, I've agreed with my provider and am going on a 7 day patch plan. Typically I stay away from patches as I'm obese and one size does not fit all, however, he's convinced me to give it a go. I have tried a pain med patch once and I couldn't get it to stick to me. I was scared to death at the time, but now it's a great chuckle. Problem is I dunno what the problem is, I have very sensitive skin that is less than...textured? Just really smooth and no hair due to awesome heritage. That leaves the problem between baby butt skin, shower gel, or lotion or I'm insane and I'm actually sweaty and oily,who the heck knows, I need ideas! Please! The brand name patches are very good! They stay on my skin very well. However they will irritate if on passed a day or the next morning. The generic patches are useless everything from sticking together, to itching, to dropping off the skin,to curling in the corners is true. I have found that if you put a sock, a glove (a cloth glove,that will keep moisture out helps for the patch to stay on and in place. I did not like the generic patches,unfortunately my insurance will not pay for the better one.And now I can't get them at all!!!!!Try not to lotion down nor shower just before putting on. If you go out try to keep body cool as the patch will peel if any kind of sweat gets around the area.

I'm quite upset and feel like the rug was pull out from under me. I've had five back fusions via three surgies (4 cervical & 1 Lumbo-sacral ) , one surgery for silicone toxicity/ removal, 2-surgies on my hands, 1- surgery on my bladder. I've already detox-ed myself off of lortab, phentyl patches prior to each surgery.. My problem now is managing my chronic pain that's left over...I'm better since the surgeries but far from whole pain wise. I hurt so bad that I can't shower, or dress without help if I don't take some form of pain medication. I mearly use 30mg morphine extended release three time a day, as needed at night 1- 10mg percocet or valium to help sleep or decrease muscle spasms. I just don't feel like I meet the critiera of abuse to warrant me...

CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO KEEP THE PATCH FROM COMING OFF AFTER SECOND DAY ? I SHOWER A COUPLE TIMES A DAY AND ON THE SECOND DAY THE PATCH WON'T STAY ON.THEN YOU USE MORE THAN WHAT IS PERSCRIBED AND YOU RUN OUT OF PATCHES AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY WON'T PAY FOR ANY MORE THAN PERSCRIBED, THEN COMES WITHDRAWAL? ## The information I received with my patches indicate that the patch should not get wet. I have the same problem. In reading other post, there is a clear cover that can be obtained to protect the patch from water. I have not researched for any sourses, but will soon. I will contact you again if I find a resonable sourse, unless I see another post answers your question. I have been on 25mcg for 3 months, with tegaderm tape that goes right over the patch because they are breathable and stick excellent and I have naturaly oily skin and sweat easy. They don't fall off. When I take a shower I refrain from getting them wet. Just don't do it even if it says its ok. Once your short a patch it messes everything up. You patches, your breakthrough meds everything. Then you risk your doctor thinking something weird. Insurence won't fill and you always be behind 3 days if that how you wear them. They work great and I don't feel anything except thank the Lord, I'm pretty much pain free except breakthrough pain.

I am new to fentanyl treatment but no stranger to narcotic treatment for severe sciatica in my left leg. I was prescribed the 12.5mcg and the pharmacy gave me the Mylan 12mcg. My first patch didn't do anything for over 6 hrs. so I put another one on. Took a hot shower, went to bed and woke up the next morning pain free for the first time in a VERY long time. Since I was only given 5 patches to last me 2 weeks, I was wondering how long they really last. I've heard that there's actually enough fentanyl in each patch to last 7 days.
