I have been on Welbutrin 150mg for a few years and may need to add another antidepressant now. 300 mg is too much for me and doesn't work. I was given Lexepro 10mg but do not want to continue with this drug. Does anyone have any recommendations on what I could take that wouldn't have the horrific side and withdrawal effects of Lexepro? My issue is depression. Appreciate any feedback. ## Hello, Cassie! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. What type of doctor are you consulting? I think a specialist would be best, because many of the other antidepressant react badly with the Wellbutrin, they tend to increase its toxicity, which could be dangerous. You might be able to aid a low dose of a medication like Abilify, which is approved to augment that act...

i am on prodap, tryptomer and restyl for the past 12 yrs. i hav got rashes on my legs and feet for the past 4 yrs. no medicine is of any help for the rashes. can it be due to antidepressants?wat shd i do? ## Since you have been on them 7 yrs longer then you have actually been experiencing the rashes, it is unlikely that you are allergic to the meds. But something is going on in your system. I would recommend telling your doc about your symptoms and also recommend having some allergy test done. It could very well be environmental or changes to your body, (like pregnancies as an example) or possibly you have developed a food allergies. Best of luck to you finding the cause of your rash. They are no fun! On a side note. Make sure you are using organic products, like lotion and body wash. Th...

Hi, i have been on Zytomil for 3 weeks now and find that i am unable to climax. Will this problem go away in time? ## Yes, that can be a normal side effect of most antidepressants, according to the NIH. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings, and weight changes. However no, it doesn't usually improve and you may need to see your doctor and discuss trying a different medication. Is this the only medication that you take? ## Hi Verwon, i do not seem to have any other side effects. Yes this is the only medication i am taking. The Zytomil worked within one week and i feel a new person. Think i will stick with it for the 6 months my doctor suggested. i suppose one cannot have it both ways in life. Best regards. ## Best bet is to ask your doctor for Vi...

Haven't found one that helps me what is the longest time one has taken to work for you please tell me. I have seem no improvement at all ## Hello, Theresa! How are you? Usually, it should be about 4 to 6 weeks, that's the time frame it usually takes for them to reach their full effectiveness in your body and for you to know if it's going to work for you, or not. What type of doctor have you been seeing, a general practitioner or a specialist? Your best bet would most likely be to see a specialist, since they know different combinations of medications that can work for someone who is resistant to conventional treatments. ## It usually takes a few weeks before you start feeling better, I've tried every antidepressant and seems to work the best for me... If all fails get on...

I have been taking Norgesic for 18 months with 40mg of OxyContin 2 times daily & Lyrica 150mg as well as antidepressants, blood pressure medication of 80mg, as well as cholesterol tablets, plus 5mg of Endone (OxyContin). I take all this everyday, but sometimes I won’t take the Norgesic or the 10 Endone because I am so over it I can’t remember things sometimes. Has anyone else been on a similar regimen? ## When I took oxycodone and gabapentin together I couldn’t remember anything ever so I’m impressed you’re even managing this well because Lyrica is a lot stronger than gabapentin. The best way for me to keep track of multiple meditations is that I put them all in one of those Sunday through Saturday sorters, then I have another small container in my bag ...

Since this antidepressant can lead to weight gain, would it work if I took it every third day as i notice its half-life is three days. So I have 2 questions: 1) Would it work properly like this? 2) Would taking it this lessen its weight-gain/metabolism change propensity? Its a great antidepressant. ## Hello, Lorna! How are you? You should take it as directed by your doctor. For it to be effective, it needs to remain at a constant level in your body and that really wouldn't change it's side effects, anyway. The FDA lists its other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. There are some antidepressants that are weight neutral, or that even cause weight loss in some people. Have you considered trying a different medication? ## Thank you ...

I need meds for restless legs and fibromyalgia!!! I take 60mg of Cymbalta 1x a day and Lortab 7.50/300mg every 4hrs... I also take Baclofen 10mg for a neck injury when it gets bad but not every day. Nothing helps with the restless legs. Help!!! ## Cymbalta is horrible for Rls it's probably what's trigging it for u, probably should try a different antidepressant ## Cymbalta is probably making it worse. The opioid should help.... ## This may sound silly but I took Andrew Lessman Circulation & Vein Support for Healthy Legs. It helped within a week. It has 600 mg of Diosmin in it. You cam buy it at his website or at HSN. ## My Dr. put me on Carbidopa/Levadopa years ago. (Sinemet). Works wonders. The top rated ones have habit forming chemicals, like Xanax, Vallium. Are there any medicines that aren't addictive but still effective? ## I am afraid that ANYTHING you take regularly carries a risk of becoming dependent or addicted to it. The main thing of importance is to always see your doctor regularly and only take all medications exactly as prescribed. You are correct that those in the Benzodiazepine family are the most habit forming. You may wish to ask your doctor about some of the antidepressants, such as: Paroxetine: Or Pristiq: Some of them have been used to treat anxiety and have less addictive potential than the Benzodiazpines. Do you have any other questions? ## Yea i already considered anti depressants, but do they really work for anxiety and fear? The main thing abo...

What do you guys think? Because most of the top rated anxiety drugs are the ones with benzo, like xanax and vallium, but those are habit forming. ## Some of the antidepressants have been successfully used to treat anxiety and are much less habit forming. You may want to look into something like BuSpar: Or Paroxetine: Have you spoken to your doctor about alternatives, yet? ## Benadryl is an antianxiety or, if you want to try the herbal route valarian root works well for a lot of people. Or, if you are in a place where it's legal (??) marijuana is also really good for anxiety. Some prescription non Benzodiazepines (like Xanax and Vallium) that help with anxiety that I have taken are Trazodone, Neurontin, Tegratol and some antidepressants are also sometimes prescribed for anxiety. After being on every imaginable antidepressant over the past twenty-five years and undergoing ect, I have found that Ritalin has worked the best for me. I have been taking it for about two years now and wonder why I had to suffer for so many years prior. But that is history and I don't dwell on it. I look forward to tomorrow now. ## Really helps with my depression as well as my ADD. I believe the ADD contributed to the depression because it causes me to be less productive which causes stress. ## Greetings KM. . My doc just rx'd Ritalin for depression and memory issues or severe decline only 52, plus add, panic attacks, and anxiety. Think that covers it all lol. Can linzess be taken as needed. My antidepressant causes constipation? ## Hello, Jill! How are you? Some people do take it that way, depending on how it works best for them. There is no harm in trying it that way, if your doctor approves of your doing so. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, bloating, stomach pain and diarrhea. However, have you tried just using fiber supplements?

Left my paxil at home and I'm on trip. Can I take my wives prozac for a few days or just skip my antidepressant altogether? ## Hello, Chrissy! How are you? It would be best to check with your doctor, because the doses differ from one to the other, even though they are in the same class of medications. If you skip it for the duration of your trip, you may experience withdrawal effects, that may include nausea, diarrhea, rebound depression and anxiety. What dosages do you each take?

weening off this antidepressant, i have been on it for 3 months. any one out there with exactly the same medicine? how many mg did u reduce it by and over what period of time. Thanks ## This type of information is probably best given by your doctor; only because the difference in dosages can affect each person differently. What might be a safe tapered-dose for one person could also end up being too drastic of a change for someone else. I would even ask your doctor to help you put together a tapering schedule (on a calendar), in order track your progress and keep you on the right path to completing your goal within a specific time frame. Without a way to track your progress, tapering can sometimes be much more difficult than it needs to be. I hope this advice helps!

This is an SSRI antidepressant and side effects may include nausea, dizziness, weight changes and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with? ## No, but thank you for the information. I will ask my doctor for a new script.

Prescribed as a migrane medication ## Is this for treatment of shingles & hand swelling? ## What is the best medication that I can get over the counter at walgreens for herpes (cold sore) on my mouth? ## Blavil is listed as containing Amitriptyline, which is an antidepressant that can also be used to treat migraines, and certain types of nerve pain. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood changes, and weight changes. Felix, there is no real over the counter product that is guaranteed to work. What symptoms have you been experiencing? Are you on any other medications? ## Is "Blavil" a foreign brand of Amitriptyline from outside the United States, or is it simply a misspelling of Elavil?
