Is it safe to take antacids, and staten medication with nitrofurant macro ## Hi Puba, I haven't come across any specific details notating that you can't use nitrofurantoin with statin medication. However Walgreens' drug monograph for nitrofurantoin strongly advises against taking any type of antacid that contains "magnesium trisilicate" with it. From what I've read, apparently the magnesium can impact how well nitrofurantoin is absorbed. Their statement goes on to mention that you should double check with a pharmacist in order to ensure whether or not a particular antacid has this ingredient prior to purchasing. Did your doctor recommend that all three types of medications be taken together? ## Thank yiu. No my doctor did not mention taking all 3 together. I do h...

Can I take tums antacid while on Augmentin 875-125???? ## Hello, Brandi! How are you? Yes, but you should be careful to take them about 2 hours apart, unless your doctor or pharmacist instructs otherwise. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have nighttime acid reflux mostly. The ranitidine works to keep my acid lower but I get very vivid dreams. I try occasional Gaviscon but all these antacids with artificial sugars give me bad gas and are bad for you. They say tums and other antacids would taste too chalky w/o the sorbitol? Too much baking soda is bad for your kidneys... PPIs are generally bad for you. My head is elevated and I don't have any food or drinks for 3 hrs. before bed. Any ideas on a safe antacid for nighttime GERD? ## Hi Trish, Sorry to hear about your condition with GERD. My dad has a similar problem and also doesn't eat or drink a few hours before bedtime. He was also searching for an alternative and I found a natural product containing apple cider vinegar and raw manuka honey that solves his acidi...

brown and white capsule...I didn't see any markings but took one for having gas... ## Without knowing the markings, it is impossible to say for sure what it was, but yes, there are some antacids on the market that match that descriptions, as well as many other medications. It could have also been a laxative or a vitamin. Do you know if it was supposed to be a prescription or over the counter item?

how do you treat it? I know it's treatable with antibiotics and antacids like omeprazole, but it didn't work for me. ## Hello, Glenn! How are you? How do you know it didn't work? Have you actually been tested for it, again, or are you just still feeling symptoms? It is highly possible that the bacteria was eradicated and you just need a longer course of an antacid to let things heal. And do you watch what you eat, so you stay away from anything spicy or acidic? Do you avoid alcohol?

I take Levothyroxine( Thyroid) medicine and on the bottle it says not to take a antacids or calcium within 4 hours of taking . I also take Pantoprazole SOD. This I should not take for 4 hours after the Levothyroxine? ## HI, Barbara! How are you? Other than the water you take it with, nothing else should be taken with the Levothyroxine and though it works differently than an antacid, I'd suggest waiting the 4 hours for the Pantoprazole as well, just to be sure. It really helps more if it is taken before a meal, anyway. Learn more Pantoprazole details here.

What snacks can I take with my doze since the bottle instructs not to take antacids, vitamins, iron, or dairy products within 2 of taking this medication...... ## This seems pretty unavoidable, since just about all food naturally contains vitamins and minerals or is fortified with them. So I can only assume that the package is referring to 'supplements' when they mention vitamins or iron. It would probably be fine to just have some trail mix or even bananas, since most people seem to tolerate fruit well. I hope this helps!

Its been ten days now and no oxycodne at all.I feel fine not nervious anymore but iam having alot of stomache pain.If i take antacids it seems to help just a little, maybe wishful thinking.Iam so happy to stopped takeing the oxy,it was prescribed by my doctor, i was takeing ten to fifteen mils a day for four years.Hopeing someone can give me some advise. Thanks so much ## How long were you taking it? It can take a month or so for the withdrawal effects to wear off, if you were taking it for a long time? Anytime you stop taking something suddenly, it can upset the balance of your body, since it has to readjust, which could explain your stomach problem. If antacids are helping, it sounds like you're producing too much acid. What type of antacids are you using?

Which combination solve the best for stomach discomfort and belching? 1) antacids (mylanta, magtasil, aromag, hydrosil tablet) 2) PPIs (omeprazole) 3) H2 blockers (ranitidine, famotidine) 4) Meteospasmyl, domperidone Doctor prescribed me with Magtasil, DomperidoneandOmeprazole. But I still feel too much gas in the stomach and cause me to belch a lot. I was thinking to replace Magtasil with Hydrosil tablet as it contains Simethicone that's used to help to break the gas bubbles. My question 1) Can I take Hydrosil withOmeprazoleandDomperidone? 2) Any side effects? ## I did not find drug interactions listed between Hydrosil (Simethicone) and Omeprazole. Furthermore, an article from Medline Plus states that "when taken as directed, simethicone usually has no side effects." As for D...

my dr prescribed this med for a infection. The Dr. or the pharmacy neglected to tell me that you are not supposed to take antacids with this med. When I got Home I read the paperwork and the warning was also on the bottle. I have to take antacids 2x a day for my GURD. I stopped taking the antacids. What would happen if I had take my regular doses of antacids. ## If you take it with regular antacids, such as the calcium based ones like Tums, it can cause less of the medication to be absorbed, so it isn't as effective. With Ciprofloxacin, you should make sure to take these types of antacids 6 hours away from the antibiotic. This doesn't apply, however, if you are taking some other type, such as the proton pump inhibitors that are sold as generics, as well as under name brands like...

I have been having severe acid reflux for several years and taking more and more acifex and other strong antacids. Last year I woke up ewith acid in the mouth day and night my gastroenterologist sent me to a surgon. I did not like the surgon so I found a different gastroenterolgist. After talking to two other Dr's, the gastroenterologist suggested I take Lyrica after uping the doseage from 10 mg twice a day to 50 mg twice a day I have some relief. for some reason he is resisting upping the doseage above 50 mg twice a day. I am getting some relief but after about 5 hours the acid comes back, although not quite as bad but it burns my tomgue and makes my tongue swollen, so I bite it.
