Zoloft/scared/pregnant

I'm only on day two of zoloft. initial side effects are immense. I have been monitoring severe anxiety attacks with xanax for years. It is really the only way I function in society. I found out a week ago I'm pregnant and had to stop immediately. They prescribed zoloft. I am a bit familiar with antidepressant side effects and know that two days is too soon to give up. But the past two days have been so intense and scarey. My panics are through the roof. Trouble typing the shakes are so immense. Very hard to eat or sleep. And I'm getting lock jaw from grinding my teeth. And of course I'm worried about my pregnancy. I will certainly speak with my Dr about this but want to get through 72 hours or a week first. Anyone willing to talk any advice appreciated. Pregnant or not.

Actually, it sounds like you may be going through withdrawal from the Xanax, coupled with side effects from starting the Zoloft.

Yes, you definitely need to speak to your doctor, withdrawals could be dangerous for your baby and may put you at risk of seizures.

Zoloft is classified by the FDA as an SSRI and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes.

How much Xanax were you taking each day?

Yes I did figure part of my symptoms may be from xanax withdrawals. But these just feel more like an added chemical than a withdrawal. I am able to go a few days without xanax sometimes. I vary in the amount I take depending on the stress load of the day. Averaging 45 mg/month. Sometimes 2 mg per day for work and then none on days off to try and avoid dependency as much as possible.
So far symptoms are dry mouth. Trouble eating and sleeping. Dizzy Ness. Shaking and anxiety. Today while napping i had a lot of muscle involuntary muscle movement. Twitching and jerking. I called the ob clinic. They recommend speaking with with my regular health care professional but don't feel we are in any danger. Very hard knowing 1/2 mg of xanax would make me feel better but not knowing what danger this could cause prevents me from takingthe risk.
