there is a generic Suboxone out now. they begin shipping them to pharmacies the last week of February. also, if you have any type of insurance you will automatically get the generic suboxin. The doctor has no say in whether you get the name brand or generic really. even if he writes a prescription for suboxone, the pharmacist will automatically give you the generics if you have insurance. if you don't have any insurance, you can ask the pharmacist to give you generics because they are cheaper. Plus, R and B has stopped making the name brand suboxin pills. they are only making be films now. So whenever your pharmacy runs out of the original suboxin, there will not be any more.

yes, that information is correct. Actavis is 1 of the companies now producing a generic form of Suboxone. Amneal Pharmaceuticals is the other. I can tell you exactly what Amneals generic Suboxone looks like, as I am prescribed to it and I have one right in front of me! it is a round orange pill, with the imprint AN 415 on one side, and no imprint on the other. besides being round, the other difference I have noticed is that these pills are much, much harder. it is something that I happen to like because they don't break apart or crumble up as easily as the originals. Plus, I feel that they dissolve much better because of that too. they dissolve a little bit slower, but they don't turn into useless Suboxone flavored spit either. I feel they absorb a lot more efficiently because of that. the taste isn't nearly as bad as the original ones either. I have never seen the other generic suboxin, but I have heard from many people that it has a half moon imprint on one side and the numbers 155 on the other. they are a white round pill. I will try to upload a picture of my generic Suboxone.

I agree with calling BS comment. I have real good insurance and they will not cover strips no matter what. Only generic pills and the doc has to be specific on the script. My insurance also will not cover him to write the script but the do cover the pills, all I pay is $15. They all work the same but the strip feels a little stronger but I'm not trying to feel high so generic is perfect. I found it harder to come of of strips. We are all getting screwed because you get off of one drug just to be on another. I just remember how I thought I was going to die from H come downs and it makes everything else in life easy. Take it one day at a time and don't let it beat you.

It is really sad that insurance company bureaucrats can dictate what is and is not acceptable treatment for addiction... Suboxone is proven to work and is acknowledged as ethical and prudent medical treatment. Honestly, they would probably spend a LOT less by paying for the appointments and prescriptions for someone who wants to be clean than they will end up paying down the road for the complications that arise from illicit opiate use (most of which can be blamed solely on the war on drugs, not the drugs themselves)

Not all states are the same when it comes to denials, appeals, and pre-approval coupled with diagnosis. Not to mention the doctor and his staff's skills, in network status and history with a given company. Just to be clear about my qualifications to call out these blanket statements...I'm licensed in 46 states for all insurance types and federally with the suit of numbered series brokerage licenses.
I have Medicare, but NO Part D at my choice, and my employer's policy (Aetna / Medco) thanks to LTD.
Suboxone was easier to get than trying to get effexor several years ago (same company, same policy). So much so I never tried effexor. Before sub film I was on oxycodone (9 a day, 30mg), morphine sulfate ir (12 a day, 30mg), plus a host of other controlled meds and was allowed to get it all in 90 day quantities so as to not go broke with the high cost of month to month retail price that Medco does to force mail order.
Support is a wonderful thing, and if that's not available then a minimum level of respect wouldn't hurt, no?

I second the better absorbtion and they are a lot more solid which is good for the crumbling factor but bad cuz they are hard to half and quarter. Tried a pill cutter and it "shatters" to a few pieces. The taste is definitely a personal opinion. I don't like like the "new" orange flavor. It shouldn't even be called orange flavor and the pharmaceutical company says it has a pleasant orange taste but i beg to differ. I prefer the still yucky taste of original suboxone but thats all i prefer over the generic version. Strangely generic is the same color though. All in all I am so glad the FDA finally realized what RB was all about and it boiled down to profit in the end. I hope the new amneal version sweeps the market so it is made in the US and keeps the profit in the US. Lord knows we need it.

You all are wrong. Insurance will cover the strips and so will passport. You have to get a pre authorization sent from your doctor. My sister gets the strips on passport and I get em on my insurance for a $20 co pay. And the strips work fine. The white 155 generics work fine, The AN 415 didn't seem to do much for me. Im prescribed 3 a day and the orange ones had me feeling like crap and it was not in my head. I have been on many different types and I am not afraid of change but the orange ones did make me feel rough. So try to get the 155 or strips. And don't think about it as different just go about your day and it will be fine. If you have had the orange generics and had it rough let us know so we can spread the word.

I am on the white generic 2's with the moon on one side 155 on the other. I tried all varietys shapes and sizes. Zubsolv was almost perfect except for they didnt last as long. I dose every 4 hours minimum and 6hrs max because i have chronic pain permanently i also get addicted and have problems as far as full opiods go. I dont like breaking tabs, they never break evenly and its a mess, so i still get 16mgs a day, but spread out at 240 2mgs a month. Strips are no good for me. I tried the 8mg orangr Amneal generic and felt ill and or headaches quite often with pain releif ending way to early. As long as i get 240 actavis 2mgs each month all is good!!! Everyone i knowbon them agrees except one person who actually likes the orange generic crap! No one i know prefers the films.

Those orange ones suck. I was prescribed n8 then started getting those. I take a whole one at 8 am by 3 pm i'm in WD already. Dr had to switch to subutex 54 411

I am prescribed the generic subutex. They are a oval/peach with a half moon on 1 side and 153 on the other. Only difference I have noticed is they have a very chalky taste.

Actually thats not true, my hubby gets the strips written out first b/c his insurance will only pay for those specifically & has to be pre-authorized & the generic would not even go through to be covered...once the pre-auth. goes through, he pays $10 co-pay but it depends on your whether u have insurance 7 a lot of factors based on which the doctor will prescribe, he has been going to same doctor for 4 years

Subsavedme-did you look at the subsidies and how you can spread them out to afford your care? The subsidies go a long way...

You may want to speak to an ACA broker to better understand this. Brokers are paid by the companies to assist you.

Shrinko - I would look to the other posts on suboxone board on here. There is a lot of useful information that will help. Even though it's only been a couple of weeks coming off the stuff has to be done at a steady pace and then the final 1mg has to be done super slow. The doc who put me on it said, how does an iceberg move? That's as fast as you'll want to go down. You'll could be tapering down longer than you took it as a constant. Regardless, check with the doctor who put you on it to make sure you're not going off too fast. Good luck!

The best way by far, is to skip a day or two between doses. Save the doses for when u need to be functioning. Then take smaller doses . Keep doing it. I once went from 8-12mg to .5 mg. and that was all i needed. Saved me alot of money. And that was after not taking them for almost a week. I found its the best way to get your tolerance down. U just gotta skip and go without. And even tho you feel like death; keeping active and getting out ( although the last thing on ur mind) can help alot. U will laugh more, feel more. Music sounds better. Thats the downside to opiates, they really numb ur senses.

Iv got a cpl questions first witch do you all thinkis a better choice the subutex suboxone or the zubsolvs iv been a daily iv h user for four years and a daily opiate user for at least 18 years now and have chronic pain that is permanent what do u think would b my best option and does ky passport cover any of them i CNT find much info on it would really appreciate any advice thanks
