Xanax Worked, And Then Took It Again And Nothing.

Three weeks ago I flew out to ABQ. Flying is my worst fear (plus I have general anxiety.) I went to my doctor and got prescribed alprazolam .5mg. (I have been on klonopin and they do nothing for me.) anyway, on the flight out I took 1.5 mg and it was the best flight I've ever had! So on the way back, just today, I took the same amount and it did nothing. was still having panic attacks and i felt like it just made me a little irritable. What'sa goin' on?!

Hello, Kelly! How are you? I am very sorry that it didn't work for you the second time.

Sometimes, medications are just like that and there's really no way to explain it. The irritability can be a normal side effect of this medication, as well as headache, dizziness and mood swings. This medication also carries the risk of being habit forming.

You might have been more stressed and anxious the second time, so you may have needed a different medication, or a different dosage.

How often do you fly? How bad is your anxiety?

You might do better taking something on a regular basis that can help keep it under control, such as one of the SSRI antidepressants like Prozac. It may cause side effects such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight loss.
