Is this instant release of extended release? It's white oblong with 2 on back and Xanax on front

There is no instant release formulation of Xanax, just the regular and controlled release. This is a regular release formulation that contains 2mgs.

This medication has the potential to be habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability.

The information you were given is false. I have been on xanax six now and am up to 90 bars a month. My psychiatrist I've been seeing about 8 months first prescribed 3 mg extended release but if I remember correctly these were triangles. No body believed me that there even was such a dose in one xanax pill of 3mg. I was also told to take two .5s of the regular instant release. At the beginning the extended release did not help my anxiety much at all. I take it for a horrible anxiety i have endured for about ten yrs. I am only 24 but xanax is so far the only med that has helped. I tried ssri s like paxil, celexa, plus hydroxozine which is an antihistamine but none if these made a difference what so ever. My old Dr would prescribe me 4 mg a day but he was not a psychiatrist and my tolerance became so high after taking 4 to 6 mg of alprazolam a day. I have only heard of one acquaintance of mine being prescribed 120 bars . That doctor here in San Diego basically let him diagnose himself, made him pay only fifty dollars at their first apt now he doesn't charge. Anyway back to your question. What you got sounds like a normal 2 mg bar which is basically the quickest acting benzo around,, the down side is they do not last very long. But I needed the 2mg for panick attacks. If I took two .5s it would be so subtle because of my tolerance it would be like taking placebo pills. Its terrible i know so much about benzo. If you do want a longer acting benzo I recommend clonazepam. Its a much different feeling than xanax due to the xanax being less of a shorter more intense feeling and the clonipin lasts much longer. My Dr said six mg of alprazolam is equal to six clonipin and also said some of his patients needed less clonazepam than alprazolam or it would make them very tired. I agree it is very sedating but for me to have the same anxiety relief I feel I have to take MORE clonipin to equal the relief gives me. Everyone is different but I have been prescribed almost every benzo ( won't even mention Valium and lorazepam. if you already have a tolerance to one of the more potent benzo (pins or xanax) I tried switching the a longer acting one before I know what I do today. Valium are EXTR Valium in my opinion. Or you might know it as diazepam ( just because I use the brand name I have not known anyone who spent so much on the brand name benzos.brand name does not make it stronger and I really dint think many pharmacies even have those in stock and it would most likely require a special order.
