Xanax I G 213

Not sure if this was asked but whats the difference between IG 213 and xanax?

Hi Mimi,

The pill you're describing marked IG 213, contains 50mgs of Sertraline hydrochloride.

The main difference I see here is that Sertraline is classified as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). This type of medication is supposed to work by increasing the amount of serotonin in your brain, in order to help maintain an even mental balance.

Alprazolam (Xanax) on the other hand, is classified as a benzodiazepine, which is said to work by decreasing abnormal excitement in the brain.

Even though both meds are in different drug classes, I have also heard of people using anxiety and depression meds interchangeably for either type of case. I guess it all comes down to what you and your doctor decide as far as what works best for you.

Is the pill marked IG 213 a xanax or not. Im very confused. I looked it up and it said xanax but what threw me off was the 50 mg of whatever. I just need to know if its a xanax or not, period. I was told once ehen i looked it up that it was a 50 mg zoloft. I will not take it until i know for sure and i dont feel like calling or going to the drug store.

NO, this is not a Xanax as David pointed out 3 years ago. Yes you could call the Drug Store but its best not to take pills that aren't prescribed for you
