Will Fentanyl Show Up In Drug Test As An Opiate (Page 11)

Man the amount of people who have no clue what they are talking about yet spitting advice on it like they are an expert is bewildering. NO FENTANYL does not show up as an opiate on any test anywhere. In fact the only things that will show up as an opiate are morphine, codeine, and heroin and that is because heroin and morphine metabolize into morphine. Not even oxycodone or hydrocodone can be detected as an opiate they have to be specifically tested for as they metabolize differently, same with methadone, methadone has to be specifically tested for, it will not show up as anything but methadone. So unless the test you are taking is specifically testing for fentanyl then you will be fine. The question is whether or not the test you are taking is testing for fentanyl. I have yet to see a piss test that does test for it. Even if they sent it to a lab for testing they would have to tell the lab what to look for and that they specifically want to know if fentanyl metabolites are present. Anyone that tells you anything different from this has no clue what they are talking about or how opiates and their derivatives are detected after use. Drugs that have been taken are detected by looking for what they metabolize into, in the body and no two drugs metabolize the same unless they are from the same base as I explained in the beginning. Codeine, opium, heroin, and morphine are all detected as opiates because they are all made from opium. An opioid is not made from opium, they just have a somewhat similar structure and create the same effect by binding to the same receptors, but they in no way metabolize into the same metabolites which is essentially the by product of the chemical after the body has processed it. Hope this helps anyone who needs accurate information not just the random ramblings of nonsense.

I definitely agree when you say people post things they have no idea about. Ironically your one of them hydrocodone metabolizes as hydromorphone and you will fail for opiates every time.i hope no one was misled by your ignorance.

Hi I know this post is old, so I just want to make sure. I test at a lab that my probation office tells me to go to. I just recently got a patch and wanted to try it. I've been taking subs on and off for a few years and I know those don't show up. I'll be off probation in August and I really don't want to mess up this close.

No it does not! Oxycodone has to be specifically tested for.

It is unbelievable the amount of terrible and wrong information in this thread etc. Even the sticky at the top has wrong info in it. I will tell what I know and this is 100%. First off urine tests test on what the body metabolizes the substance into. First,hydrocodone will absolutely show up as an opiate,your body metabolizes it into morphine,100% every time. Secondly oxycosone for some reason will not show up a majority of the time as an opiate but most dipstick tests these days have oxy on the panel, I say most of the time because a majority of the time I have only seen oxy fail as oxy and nothing else but there has been random times where I've seen the Opi line light up but usually not. Methadone will only show up as MTD and never as OPI. Heroin if you are tested within 24hrs of use will show up as 6am which some dipstick have and some don't, if it doesn't have it,it will show up as OPI every time. Lastly and this one is the only one I am not 100% on bit have heard a lot about,Fentanyl from what I have heard will not show up as OPI but they do have dipstick tests that do test for it, again I am not 100% but I am pretty sure. Oh yeah and suboxone only shows up as SUB,never OPI. Anyways besides the Fentanyl, I am 100% positive on the others. I hope this helps someone out there.

If the body turns hydrocodone into morphine and it shows up on a drug test then why did my probation officer tell me "Oh you won't fail for opiates with Vicodin, it comes up differently." Also, I passed. No "opiates" in my system. I was a dope addict for a while so they are definitely looking for morphine compounds. The GC/MS was able to confirm Vicodin when tested by outpatient a day layer. Again that was a GC/MS test not a dipstick and even then it came up as it's own thing with it's own metabolites. Not opiate. Now I've read it is possible with very high doses of Vicodin but certainly isn't the norm as my p.o. had never even heard of that happening.

BUGS YOU have no idea what you're talking about. Nobody said it couldn't be tested for or even that it wouldn't show up. Just that it doesn't show up as an OPIATE. They Don't pick apart the drugs tested for. They look for the drug and it's metabolites in a lab. Often times the drug isn't even present anymore, they go off of the metabolites of the drug. AT LEAST do a Google search before spouting nonsense. I been on probation 8 years now. Got at least 5 to go, I didn't just pull this info out of thin air, it's from almost a decade of being both stupid and careful

This is somewhat confusing because I've had a urine test monthly and hydrocodone and oxycodone do come out as opiates because I've failed the test.. I simply wanted to know if fentanyl would show up as an opiate?

Cartfentanil cant be detected in a lab. I have took a million tests on it and i pass everytime and its sent to a lab sometimes they even do a 12 panel and nothing there either

Well...I just went in to the clinic today...n yes..fennel showed up..along with morphine n methadone .. n oxymorphone....so my dear fellow addicts..yes..it does show up..anyone else to tell you differently is wrong...

I just did a hair follicle test and have been on the 75mcg Fentanyl patch for 3 years. It did not show up as an opiate on the 12 panel hair follicle drug test.

Just fentanyl lit up all four of those?!? That shouldn't be possible at all. Is it a patch? Powder? This (if true) really needs attention. It lit up as an actual opiate and multiple opioids... think about it, it doesn't make sense.

You sure they don't come up as oxy and hydro? If they tell you "you failed for opiates" it's an umbrella term for any of that stuff. If it's a dipstick test I'm confused. If they sent it to a lab I'm willing to bet they saw oxy and hydro and your counselor/p.o. said you failed for opiates (most don't know the subtle differences.)

I am on 50mcg fentanyl and 5mg 4 times a day oxycodone. The test my doc gives me has 10 panels. One says OXY and one says OPI. When tested, the OXY always has a pink + sign, but the OPI never does. When my doc wants to check to make sure I have the Fentanyl in my system, he sends that away. He says the only way to test for its presence is to see if there is Ethanol in my system as that's what Fentanyl metabolizes into. But, the only sure way to make sure you pass your test, is to only take what is prescribed to you. Fentanyl is a strong med, if you need more than that and something for break through pain, then you have a bigger problem than just pain, and should seek help for addiction.

I spent 8 hours in an emergency room having serious withdrawal from fentanyl. They said they could not treat me for opiate withdrawal because the test was negative for opiates.

Okay Guys...i need some quick help... so i have been taking Fentenyal pills off the street and ONLY fentenyal pills. I know enough anout them to know how they look, feel,taste etc. and this past year every time i have been getting drug tested by PO they said i havr been doing good and everythings been negative (little did they know I've been using Fentrnyal thr whole time) well nothing changed with who i have been getting it from this past year or anything...all of a sudden the other day my PO called me back saying i tested positive for opiates (and she was surprised herself Bc likr i said all my drops have ALWAYS been clean..since from my knowledge as well Fentenyal does not show up on their panel) so WHAT DO U THINK CAUSED THIS OPIATE POSITIVE OUT OF NO WHERE?? I WILL HAVE TO GO THRU PAINFUL WITHDRAWELS IF I STOP AND I AM ALSO SCARED TO VIOLATE MY PROBATION.... I AM A 24 YR OLD GIRL,MOM OF 2 AND HONESTLY USE JUST TO GET THROUGH EVERY DAY SCHOOL,KIDS, WORK AND LIFE....
