Will Amoxillian Give A False Positive Drug Screen

I have been sick and was taking Amoxicillian. I took a drug screen and tested positive for cocaine. I do not use cocaine and would like to know if amoxicillian would give a false positive result. I tried to speak with the toxicology department, but they could not give me any information. If you have any information on this matter I would appreciate it.

Yes, Amoxicillin will give a false positive for cocaine.

Other things which can do this include:

Kidney infection (kidney disease)
Liver infection (liver disease)
Diabetes
Tonic Water
and of course Amoxicillin

i have never done cocaine in my life,,honestly i swear, but i am on many meds,,for neuropathic pain which r not opiates,, and i also get marcaine injections in my back,,the only new thing was antibiotics for kidney infection..what in the world would make me test positive for cocaine in a routine urine drug test mandatory for work ? my whole world has turned upside down since this morning....can't stop crying,,,
please if anyone knows what can give a false cocaine let me know,,,now i have to try to figure this out so it don't happen again....or i will lose everything.....

Many things can give false positive readings. If you really don't use the drug, then ask to be retested.

I know for a fact that people who have hepatitus c virus, or other liver problems will commonly test positive for cocaine in a routine urinalysis test. Also people that have taking large doses of amoixicilin antibotics will test positive for cocaine, as well as people who are either diabetic or have higher than normal sugar levels, because all of the above happened to me and i tested positive for cocaine although i had not used it in years. I hope this comment will help someone who may have tested positive for cocaine when i fact they had not been using it.

Same thing just happened to me today went to my pain doctor tested postive for cocaine never used drugs in my life i have cried all afternoon, i have had some kind of throat since friday been to doctor 3 times and hospital one time things they put me on was amoxicillin, then cefdinir, clindamycin,apap/codeine, prednisone plus had 2 antibotic shots and 2 steroid shots.plus i have diabetes .Would any of this make me test positive for cocaine.

I just failed my ua for cocaine and all I have been taking is amoxicillin. Could that have made me fail. Please I need an honest answer or I will be going to jail and I can't have that. I have a newborn at home I need to care for....

How long do you need to be on amoxicillin before it will show up on a drug screen. And how much would I have had to take for it to show up???? How long does it stay in your system?

yes i believe it does. tested positive for cocaine today. i am under pain management and lost my dr because of antiobtics. i have never done cocaine in my life. what in the world is going on
